About the Author

Cesar Fernando Lumba, a short story writer in his early years and the managing editor of a monthly trade magazine in Manila while still 22 years old, has published three novels and a book of essays. His first two novels - Sons, Daughters and Wine Tasters and ...And Soldiers, were published under the pen name Jules Lombard. The book of essays, Out of the Misty Sea We Must... is a blueprint for a new Philippines.
His authorship commenced upon retirement from a career in the financial services industry in the U.S. A longtime New Yorker, who spent ten years in Seattle where he earned his MBA degree, he moved his family in 2007 to Las Vegas, where an easy lifestyle awaited him and helped encourage his dream of writing one book a year until he drops. The sun always shines in Las Vegas, and its impossible to have foreboding thoughts. And there are, of course, the casinos, which in my case means entertainment, not gambling, he says of his new hometown.
A retiree since 2004, the author has had ample time to mine his personal story and the stories of many of his friends and acquaintances. He feels that he writes for the millions of American retirees who have so many stories to tell but who do not have the time or the energy to put those stories in book form.
