A princess on-the-run finds sanctuary where she least expects it...

After nearly dying in an assassination attempt, Princess Alessandra of Glorvaird escapes to a place no one would ever think to look for her: small town Oklahoma and a ranch staffed by a herd of wooly, uncouth cowboys. One cowboy in particular gets under her skin, until she sees his softer side. She knows this interlude can't last forever, but that doesn't stop her from wishing it might...

Former Navy SEAL Gideon Hale might've rescued the princess from freezing to death, but the soldier doesn't trust easily-or at all-especially when his gut tells him Alessandra is keeping secrets. But as Alessandra begins to fit into his life, he discovers another side to the princess-one that he can't help but like.

When Alessandra's enemies close in, Gideon must fight to save the woman who has become so much more than a princess...

Sweet clean read" A very enjoyable story, but yes the inevitable but, there were to many unanswered questions. Yes it is a series so you expect a few. But there's more than a few. The narrator has a nice soothing voice. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audio book at my request at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This did not impact my review in any way.

The blurb for this story sounded good but when it included an ex-SEAL turned cowboy with a princess on the run, I just had to read it. This story starts off exciting right away with an assassination attempt on Princess Alessandra. When she goes on the run, ending up hiding in the back of Gideon's truck in Texas and he finds her, he wants to know what she's doing there. Lucky for her Gideon doesn't recognize her but his marine brother who is with him does. It's hard to think of this as a fairy tale type story because of the dangerous situations Alessandra gets in. She couldn't have picked a better truck to hide in, though. With Gideon's SEAL training, he's the perfect man to keep her safe. Gideon is a bit rough around the edges but a very good man. Alessandra is a surprise. She has always lived in a palace with every minute planned for her. So sometimes she's at a loss for what to say or do. But she digs in at the ranch, making herself useful in the kitchen. Her hard work and caring personality make her well liked by the ranch hands. Before long, Gideon and Alessandra have fallen for each other. Even though this story ends nicely, there are lots of unanswered questions leaving openings for more books in this series that I can't wait to read.

The books in this series combine a couple of my favorite things to read about..fairytale princesses and cowboys. It seems like a funny mix, but the author does a great job of creating seemingly realistic scenarios and characters, which make the events that occur in the books totally believable to me. It has just been such a joy to listen to these stories. Once Upon a Cowboy is the first book of the series and the two main characters, Alessandra and Gideon, were so easy to connect with. Their backstories were interesting and the attraction that began to bloom between them was perfect. I love fairytale princess novels for the happy feelings they leave me with and Once Upon a Cowboy did just that. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lacy Williams has come up with an unusual story line in Once Upon a Cowboy! You will enjoy this light story of the meeting of a princess and a cowboy and the compromises that follow.

Once Upon a Cowboy, written by Lacy Williams, is a wonderful princess story with a cowboy twist! My favorite character is Alessandra, of course! She's the princess so who wouldn't love the princess, but this story had a different twist where this princess wasn't the rich, snooty, kiss my finger kind of princess. Allie was tenderhearted, caring, hard working. She was stuck in a life or death situation and was capable of finding a way to figure out how to stay alive! She wasn't a ditz! I also had to totally love Gideon too! He was a bear of a guy. Didn't see past his having to keep the ranch going for his sister and her little one...so he couldn't see much good in life...just surviving...especially after having been a Navy SEAL! Love how Williams made this a modern day story with old time flair that kept me wanting to turn those pages to see what was going to be happening. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book of the series. I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this novella about a modern day princess. The author did a great job portraying her desperation to escape, her fear of danger, and trauma from the recent violence. Gideon is a pretty tough nut to crack, but when he falls, he falls hard. Allie's pleasure in cooking for the cowboys and working in the kitchen endears her to all the men working on the ranch, and soon they can't imagine life without her. The fact that her stay is just temporary creates a strong tension, while the suspense from the danger she's in keeps the story quickly moving forward. Looking forward to reading more in the series! (Thank you to the author for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review)

Once Upon a Cowboy is a book you won't want to put down. With the perfect blend of a fairy tale princess and a handsome former Navy SEAL you have the makings of a knock-out novel by Lacy Williams. This bestselling author has created another book that reels the reader in and doesn't let go until the very end and you are longing for more. It's a book you won't want to miss. This was a joy to read . It’s a romance with some suspense, an ex-Seal now a cowboy, a princess, now a runway, and lots of interesting secondary characters. Princess Alessandra (Allie) from Giorvaird, is in NYC when there is an attempted shooting of her. She escapes and ends up in Texas . There she ends up in Gideon’s truck as a stowaway. Needless to say, as the story develops , their attraction becomes clear. Without giving anything away, let’s say that the HEA, doesn’t come easy. So if you are looking for a quick romance story, with a hunky ex-Seal , a princess and the promise of more stories, you will not go wrong with this one. I received this book for an honest review. Glad I got it :)

This is my first book by Lacy Williams. I was given an advance copy in exchange for my review. Ms. Williams has a way of developing characters that pulls the reader to want to know and understand them. Even the secondary characters were developed in a way that the reader could understand what made them. The storyline was easy to follow. I do wish that some details had been included but it did not detract from the story. The epilogue brought in a nice twist which will be intriguing to find out the outcome. I highly recommend this book for a sweet delightful read. I was so captured that I read it in one setting at about 3 am. Will Gideon and Princess Allie be able to overcome their differences and make a life? Will Gideon and his crew be able to keep her safe? I look forward to finding out.
