Once Upon A Ghost is the latest Anthology from the “Once Upon” series of Anthologies. I didn’t have time to read very many of the stories, but believe me when I say I’ll be going back to this repeatedly to read the other stories! The thing I love about Anthologies is the ready introduction to new (to me) authors! This review focuses (for now) on Yasmine Galenorn’s story, Rapunzel Dreaming. Fairytale retellings, “Dark Fairytales” or “Twisted Fairytales” are very popular right now, and it’s evident to me that Anthologies like this are some of the reasons. Why is there such emphasis placed on beauty? Who gets to say what constitutes beauty, and how far is too far to go to get it? These are just some of the things you think about when reading this wonderful short. I highly recommend this story, and from the parts of the other stories I’ve read, all 20 stories are easily recommended. I can’t wait to finish all of them!!

I was given an ARC as a gift for an honest review. I have not had a chance to read the whole book yet, but I have read Ella and the Haunted House by Sarra Cannon. This was a very interesting version of a Cinderella story. I really came to like Ella and understand her plight with her family. Very good read and would highly recommend to anyone looking for some good short stories with new and interesting adaptations of fairy tales.

These dark tales are not the fairytales you heard at night. These authors have teamed up to give their versions of those sweet little tales and changed them to the things nightmares are made from. From Sleeping Beauty to the Little Match Girl these authors will have your mind racing and heart palpitating as your imagination soars. I thoroughly enjoyed my journey through the land of fairy tales and all they encompass. I can say that I wasn’t disappointed, maybe a little creeped out at times and totally enthralled at others. If you are faint at heart make sure you put it down when it gets dark and you are alone.
