That smoking hot one-night stand with a former rock star? Turns out he's my son's new music teacher.

The night I met Campbell all I knew was he played my body the same way he strummed a guitar — like he owned it. Now I've learned he's the man coming to my house twice a week to teach my kid — the best music lessons money can buy.

Time to turn down the volume on the late-night shenanigans with the sexy single dad. Only that's easier said than done.

I can rock a guitar solo in front of thousands, I can write chart-topping tunes, and I can absolutely stop thinking about my student's mother naked.

Trouble is, the more I get to know Mackenzie, the more I like all of her -- she's an awesome mom, a great friend, and she gets along perfectly with my teenage daughter.

All we have to do is set some rules and no one gets hurt.

It's all working out beautifully. Until we start breaking the rules, one by one.

Wow !!!! What a great start to a new series and if Once Upon a Real Good Time is anything to go by Lauren Blakely will have yet another hit series on her hands. Campbell Evans was a teen idol in a boy band but that all changed when he became a single dad and his priorities had to change so now he plays in the local pub teaches music to kids and watches his very talented teenager daughter bake and make cookery videos. Mackenzie is also a single parent her teenage son is a very talented violinist who needs a music teacher to push him in the right direction and when her ex introduces her to their sons new teacher she suddenly realises this is the man she meet in her local pub who was only meant to be for one night ......both Campbell and Mackenzie agree the line they crossed once can not be crossed again their children need to come before any needs of their own but what happens when the feelings become so strong what happens when teenagers get into the match making business well you get another brilliant read with all the Lauren Blakely touches we have come to expect, chemistry, banter, loveable characters and a new man to add to the Blakely stables of swoon worthy men. A brilliant fun read that I couldn’t put down and I’m so excited for the rest of this series which I understand isn’t to far away.

## Holy hotness batman, this book is phenomenal. This was fun & sexy with amazing characters. First of all, THIS is how you write a heroine. Strong, beautiful, smart & kind. She's knowledgable in sports, is an awesome mom, successfully self employed, and she can cook. She's fun, witty, & playful. Loved her. The hero is terrific as well. I normally do not like stories about musicians because we get hit in the head with all the catty groupies and have to read about how easy it is for them to score, and how they've lost count of all their hookups. Bleh. Not so here. This hero plays in a small band locally now while also teaching music. There is a dead wife but she's rarely mentioned as it happened 12 years ago. The chemistry between hero and heroine was off the charts. Not to mention the witty banter. This was such a fun read. I highly recommend it!

Once Upon A Real Good Time is the first book in the Heartbreakers series and was a fantastic read. Campbell is a former teen idol turned music teacher who happens to also play lead guitarist with a small band in a local pub. He happens to be a single dad, his daughter is amazing. Mackenzie is also a raising a child on her own and her idea of a good time is going to the local pub for a trivia quiz. These two hit if off from the beginning but soon find that they have obstacles in their way. I highly recommend this book, it was great!

So we meet the first Campbell, I had gotten and ARC for the next book but I felt like I had to read this one first just to get the most out of these brothers and I was happy I did. So we met Campbell or Mason he was once part of a group the heartbreakers along with his brothers, first they were a duo until the third brother joined and they were famous. Now he is a single dad and a music teacher along with playing in a bar on weeknights. He sees Mackenzie one night and is instantly attracted, Mackenize is also a single mom who is a trivia queen and doesn't really have much of a life besides being a mom. When she is encouraged to let her hair down and have fun before her son returns from summer camp she does with Campbell and they had a fantastic night only to then find out he is her sons new teacher and you can't go there can you?..fun grab a copy and enjoy!

I love rock star romances, this one is a good story, it's about Mackenzie and Campbell’s relationship, which is sweet and swoony, being older single parents make it different from what I usually read from this type of books, their professionalism and responsibilities made their relationship so real. I can't wait for next book of the series.

While I typically don’t read novels that involve single parents (it’s just not my thing), Lauren Blakely is one of the handful of my go to authors. Her skill at creating realistic dynamic characters is evident and they draw you into their world. It is impossible to not become invested in their stories just as it is hard not to love them. Her leads have blatant chemistry, with witty and humorous dialogue and more than just heat between the sheet. They just...work so well together. Blakely should be commended on her ability to take cliche, overused tropes and make them entertaining. From the former rockstar dad to him being her son’s tutor to their agreement to just stay friends, separate they all sound like a story that has been written a million times. It’s Blakely’s skill as both a writer and a storyteller that turn these into an engaging story. From her engaging characters to her steamy scene involving a couple clearly mean to be, everything about Blakely’s novel is absolutely lovely.

I absolutely fell in love with this book!!! I loved Campbell and Mackenzie together. Their values synced perfectly with one another and at times that makes thing hard for them to find love. Campbell was just perfect for Mackenzie, the instant attraction that made denying themselves impossible. You definitely can't deny that dirty mouth that's for sure. Her history was interesting and one that was funny since it turned out so well. His was tragic and really affected how he does things now. They both have commitments that make being together difficult but maybe what they have is worth making it work and I absolutely loved the journey!! This is a MUST read and you will love it!!! I can't wait for the next Heartbreaker.

Mackenzie is a young mother, single and proud. Owning her own business, she splits her time between work, nights of trivia and motherhood, and she definitely does not have time to date. Campbell is the father of a teenager girl with culinary skills who loves to post recipes on Instagram. He is also a handsome and once famous musician. A prodigy of music who becomes an excellent teacher. A couple full of chemistry who meets in a bar and has everything to go if it were not a small problem: Campbell is the new teacher of Kyle, the son of Mackenzie. My first book by Lauren Blakely and I totally fell in love with her writing. Mackenzie's unusual, laid-back family structure, Campbell's relationship with his daughter. All the supporting characters are great and well built: Kyle, Samantha, Jamison, Roxy, Campbell's brothers and bandmates. Kyle and Samantha give a show during the plot twist. And if it has a message that the author wanted to convey is that everything is not always as complicated as it seems or how we think. A very peculiar cliché, very well narrated, fun and highly recommended. That reading that you enjoy from beginning to end, without getting tired, with that couple that you miss when the book ends.

If your idea of a real good time is immersing yourself in a smoking hot, steamy, romantic read with great, witty, humorous, and smexy at times back and forth banter, well, look no further, folks. You are in for a treat. Once again, this author has proven she can serve up a likable main couple with enough character background you’ll fall in love with them and root for their HEA. The instant attraction and chemistry felt genuine, as well as the emotional connection that grew between these two destined to be together lovebirds. This single parent duo seemed to bond together perfectly, as they struggled to juggle doing what they felt was right for their teenage kids, while wanting a chance at their own happiness together. Though I wasn’t a huge fan of the heroine’s explanation of how she got pregnant, it was surprisingly sweet, endearing, and even funny at times how well she got along with her baby daddy. Color me crazy, but I couldn’t help but picture Owen Wilson playing that likable, always clowning around, goofball but takes his role as a father quite seriously character. I’m also happy to report there was no lurking in the backdrop, ready to cause chaos OW/baby mama drama on the hero’s side, as well. It’s likely a sure thing that book 2 will be equally as entertaining, my fellow romance book loving friends. Miller and Ally will bring a new but similar theme with some kid drama to this steamy, romantic comedy series. From being a friend to a lover, who’s been on the sidelines at the same time front and center helping Ally raise her daughter, Miller is likely going to finally make his big move to claim the woman he’s always wanted. Btw, with release dates relatively close together, we won’t have to wait overly long to read all the HEAs for this band of heartbreaker hunks of burning love and their leading lady love interests. Title: Once Upon a Real Good Time, Series: Heartbreakers (Book 1), Author: Lauren Blakely, Pages: 296, stand-alone but part of a series, MC both have a teenage child, very detailed, graphic smexy scenes, no love triangle, no OW/OM drama, no cheating, great back and forth banter, instant attraction. Book 1 - Once Upon a Real Good Time (Campbell & Mackenzie), 9/10/18 Book 2 - Once Upon a Sure Thing (Miller & Ally), 9/24/18 Book 3 - Once Upon a Wild Fling (Miles & Roxy), 10/8/18 (I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Great start to a new series! A big hello to the Heartbreakers! Three brothers who experienced rock star success more than a decade prior to when the story begins. The Evans brothers are Miller, Miles, and Mason (Campbell Mason that is). This is Campbell`s book. Campbell is over the rock star lifestyle. He is single dad to a teenage daughter and musically he lays low, playing occasional local gigs incognito. Life experiences have schooled him regarding his priorities which include raising his daughter and teaching music to select students. He meets our heroine, Mackenzie (Mack) at one of his small gigs and the sparks sure fly. Mack is also a single mom of a teenager. It is great to see her successful co-parenting with her son's dad. Sometimes the horrible ex trope gets old so it's nice to see this pair as besties. Mack is also a woman who puts the well-being of her son first. Herein lies the conflict between Campbell and Mack and their budding relationship. Campbell becomes her son's music teacher. A bad idea to become involved with him, she thinks so they agree to cool it. Easier said than done though because they just click physically, emotionally and intellectually. Ms.Blakely excels at witty, sharp dialogue between her characters. It was easy to see that these two just had to be together. I loved watching Campbell and Mack try so hard to fight their attraction, thinking that parenting should be their only priority. Watching them realize that it's ok to want and deserve more. Looking forward to books for the remaining Heartbreaker brothers. Reviewed by: Jamie B.

For me, Lauren Blakely is one of the all time best romantic comedy writers ever. And she proves it once again with this first book in the Heartbreakers Series. Once Upon a Real Good Time is funny, romantic, and to be honest, simply a feel good story that captivated me from the very first page and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. Campbell and Mackenzie are two incredible characters. To be fair, considering that Campbell is a tattooed ex-rock star with an adorable teenage daughter, he is straight forward irresistible. So it is not a surprise that I fell for him from the very start. Bu I was a little bit surprised that I liked Mackenzie that much. She was so sweet and I loved her geeky self, even if at times she was scared to take the risk. Ultimately, this is an amazing funny and relaxing read from THE mistress of romantic comedy. So don't waste any time and pick up your copy NOW :)

Mackenzie is a single mother whose life is focused on her son first and her career as a graphic designer second. The one thing she allows time for is to pursue her love of trivia and that is how she ended up at the bar with her friend. Stumped on a trivia answer she receives divine intervention from the sexy musician who is getting ready to play. As Campbell is a single father he has left his career as a successful Rockstar and now plays with a band that performs locally and gives music lessons. While setting up for the set he can’t help but notice Mackenzie. They have an instant chemistry that evolves in a one night stand but any thoughts of a repeat are put on hold when they find out he is her son’s music teacher. With the best of intentions, they enter into an agreement where they will keep their relationship strictly friends, what could possibly go wrong? Fun and flirty this is a story you won’t be able to put down. Both characters have always put their children first and when you combine that with the humorous banter and off the charts chemistry it leaves you knowing that the next book in the series can’t come soon enough. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.

4.5/5 Once Upon a Real Good Time certainly lives up to its fairytale inspired title. Full of swoon but also with the important message that when life throws you a curveball it can lead to wonderful if unexpected things. Campbell and MacKenzie are both single parents whose whole world revolves around their children. Although as their children are growing into young adults they now have the freedom to indulge in their own pursuits. For MacKenzie, this involves trivia nights at the local watering hole, while former teen pop/rock-sensation Campbell, is able to satisfy his musical passion by playing at a local bar. The bar in question just happens to be the same one both MacKenzie and Campbell frequent. Sparks fly from their first glance  When the opportunity to scratch that itch occurs, neither Campbell nor MacKenzie hesitate. What they don't expect is the ease at which they click together and not just physically.  Although they are perfectly matched neither of the wonderful duo were expecting more than one-night but are unable to deny their desire to explore their potential. Unfortunately, they are thrown adrift when Campbell is hired as the new music teacher for MacKenzie's son. Rather than risk any awkwardness and potential fallout if things didn't work between them they both agree not to date for the sake of their children. However, the more time they spend together the harder it is to deny the connection they have and the deeper feelings that are developing. I loved everything about both MacKenzie and Campbell, their positivity in making the most of their respective situations and the fantastic relationship they have with their children. their parenting style was amazing and the uniqueness of their family situations complimented their overall appeal.  Their respective children are also pretty amazing, a musical prodigy for a son for MacKenzie, and a Vlogging cooking sensation of a daughter for Campbell, Both children are also surprisingly intuitive for teen and want happiness for their parents  We are introduced to the other members of Campbells siblings who made up the former teen-band The Heartbreakers within Once Upon a Real Good Time, although there are snippets of their backstories I am really excited to get to know each of them better and witness them falling hard. Hopefully, this will include watching the progression of MacKenzie and Campbell's relationship

Lauren Blakely taps into the forbidden fantasy of every woman on the planet with this deliciously sexy romance between a former rock star and a beautiful trivia buff whose one night stand is guaranteed to fulfill every woman’s wildest dreams. There’s a good reason why romance books have gorgeously muscled men on the covers and Lauren Blakely rocks at picking the best cover models I’ve ever seen. You can be sure I kept that delectable cover in mind the entire time I was reading Campbell and Mackenzie’s story. What I enjoyed most about this book is that these lovers are mature 30-something characters who always remember that their teenage children come first in their lives. That rarely happens in this day and age and for a mature reader like me, I find that really sexy! I read an early copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.

Once Upon a Real Good Time by Lauren Blakely is book one in her new series, The Heartbreakers. A three-book series that stars the Hart brothers: Mason, Miller and Miles. The first book focuses on Campbell Mason Evans (aka Mason Hart) and his life now that he is no longer part of the Heartbreakers, though his brother Miller keeps asking to get the band back together. Instead, Campbell is playing incognito with an indie band while raising his fifteen year old daughter, Samantha, and teaching music as a private tutor. When his band plays at a bar during trivia night, he can't tear his eyes off the woman enthusiastically playing trivia while watching his every move on stage as he gets ready to play. What starts off as simple eyes meeting across the room, then weeks later a night to remember, soon leads to an awkward moment when reality intrudes and Campbell finds the woman he is attracted to is the mother to his new music student. Mackenzie is definitely hot for teacher, but with her son Kyle being her main priority, she and Campbell put their feelings on hold. What I love is that a lot of this story was seeing their friendship grow into love and I enjoyed their moments with their kids. Ms. Blakely really pulls you into this romance that is not only sexy and funny, but heartwarming with its emphasis on family. The kids Kyle and Samantha were charming and stole the show. Overall, Once Upon a Real Good Time by Lauren Blakely is a fun read and very enjoyable. I happily recommend. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received for free in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)

Lauren Blakely has a knack for blending naughty and nice. She serves up a healthy dose of both in Once Upon a Real Good Time, and I must say the combination goes down nice and smooth. It’s a simple story of two single parents who have devoted their lives to their kids, putting aside the possibility of romantic relationships in the process. Campbell is a former boy band star turned private music teacher. Mackenzie is an entrepreneur with a wealth of Jeopardy-level knowledge. These are two amazing characters who are perfect for each other. I love their playfulness and sexy banter. Campbell’s dirty talking bedroom skills are on point! It’s no surprise that I wanted their happily ever after like I wanted my next breath. What’s really refreshing is how lovable their teenagers are. Let’s face it. Anyone with a teen knows how difficult they can be. Mackenzie’s son is a well-rounded violin prodigy. Campbell’s daughter is a sweetheart who loves to bake and has her own YouTube channel. They each love their parent and aren’t afraid to show it. When Campbell winds up teaching Mackenzie’s son, it throws a wrench in their plans for a possible romance. I really didn’t feel like it was that much of an issue, but thankfully instead of lots of drama, good humor and warmth prevail throughout. I’m counting this as a solid win. Campbell has two brothers with their own books coming out. I hope I enjoy the rest of the series just as much as this story.

This book was...GAH! You know all those rock star book boyfriends readers gush over? Well, Campbell Evans blows them out of the water even if he is, technically, a FORMER rock star. The guy exudes this confidence but he is by no means cocky. He doesn't downplay his musical talents but he also acknowledges that he's good enough that he passes on what he knows to kids who share the same gift. And to be paired with someone like Mackenzie? Jeez but how adorable AND smoking-hot these two were! There's sweet but there's also sexy, and there's a whole lot of amazing storytelling in between. I also happened to like the supporting characters who were part of the story, with special mentions going to their respective teenagers. With a healthy dose of humor and lots of heart, this series starter was a change of pace from the author's previous release, which had more angst. I love that Lauren Blakely is able to keep things interesting for her fans and readers, and if the rest of her new Heartbreakers series is as fab and funny as this opening salvo, the next few weeks will be great! Five-plus stars for Once Upon a Real Good Time. ♥

HOLY HOTNESS! Lauren Blakely is on fire with this story! I LOVED IT! Campbell and Mackenzie's story is sexy and fun with a whole lot of angst. I think I wiggled and smiled throughout this entire book. The chemistry between these too is white hot and delicious. Not to mention, the storyline is super endearing and I just adored the kids. If you are looking for something light and steamy that you can consume in one sitting, Once Upon A Real Good Time is it! ♥ Review by Lys

5+++ stars!! All hail the queen of the rom com. Lauren Blakely wowed me again. I devoured this book!! DE-VOU-RED! I just could not get enough of the chemistry between Campbell and Mackenzie. My goodness!! Everything about this book had me giddy as can be. Once Upon a Real Good Time had all my favorite elements - outstanding characters, fun & flirty banter, single parents romance, sexy rock stars and all the steaminess you could want. It was a sweet, light read with tons of heart and many swoons. Lauren Blakely is the master of witty and entertaining dialogue. The characters had a natural chemistry that made the banter between them feel effortless and extremely enjoyable. It had me smiling the entire time. This book will now be my go to book if I ever need a jolt of happiness. Once again Lauren Blakely has created a group of characters that were easy to root for. Mackenzie, Campbell and all their family and friends were so brilliantly entertaining. There was not one person I disliked even a little. I absolutely loved Mackenzie. Her strength, intelligence and her selflessness are a few reasons why she will always be one of my favorite heroines. She's had to (happily) dedicate so much of her life to her son. I loved seeing her open herself up to a possibility with Campbell. Not that that was a tough challenge because Campbell Evans... holy cow!...am I drooling? I have a massive crush. He's so talented, charming and sexy with a deliciously dirty mouth. *fans self* Seriously hot! He's also just a really great guy. Whether he's on stage, in the kitchen tasting his daughter baking creations, or on the phone watching Netflix with Mackenzie, this man was easily winning over my heart. Their connection is my favorite part of this story. They started off fast but when they were forced to step back the friendship they built was everything. It felt real. I love love love this book! When I finished it, I immediately wanted to read it all over again. I can’t wait to see what the other sexy rock star brothers have in store. If it's half as good as the first book, than I already know it'll be a future favorite read.

Once Upon a Real Good Time was a fun and light rom com! It's low on angst and drama and was a wonderful single parent love story with a touch of forbidden thrown in for good measure. I really loved Mackenzie and Campbell! They had undeniable chemistry and Campbell's dirty mouth was just delicious! The push and pull between them was perfect and created just the right amount of build up. I really appreciated that though they both wanted more from the other, their first priorities were always the happiness of their children. Having them both be single parents was a twist on the trope I haven't seen often and I found it really refreshing that the hero and heroine were both mature and responsible adults with established careers and lives. Mackenzie was such a quirky and fun heroine. Her endless trivia knowledge and cooking skills were awesome and I loved the backstory behind her single parent status. The secondary characters were just as amazing and added some wonderfully to the story, especially Jamison. The epilogue set up the next book perfectly and I can't wait for Miller's friends to lovers romance! If you're looking for an easy and sexy rom com, you don't want to miss this one!

This was so good! I'm giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion. I absolutely adored this ARC. The characters were fantastic, the story flowed, there were some great sexy times, and lots of sweetness. Seeing the way Campbell and Mackenzie interacted with their kids was adorable. They're fantastic parents, and I was rooting for them from the very beginning. Campbell is definitely going on my book boyfriend list, and I think his brothers might be joining him once I read their books. The book was told in dual POV, and I loved seeing both sides to this story. In addition to loving Mackenzie and Campbell, I liked Kyle, Samantha, Jamison, Miller, Ally, and lots of others too. There wasn't really anyone in this that I didn't enjoy reading about. If you had doubts about how much I enjoyed this, I read it in two sittings in the same day (finishing the entire book within 12 hours of starting it). I could have easily read it in one sitting, but I didn't want it to end that fast. I am super excited for the next book in this trilogy! Thankfully I won't have to wait very long. I highly recommend you check this one out if you love single parent romances, rock star/musical romances, or just a really cute contemporary with a bit of a fiery side.
