Count on these frogs for a luminous read-aloud bursting with lyrical sound play and visual surprises.

On a wet spring night, one big frog sings KA-BLU-URP! Two tiny frogs sing PREEP, PREEP, three young frogs sing RIBBIT, RIBBIT, all the way up to ten frogs who trill PEEP, PEEP as a frog chorus fills the air with grunts and croaks and chirps. The night is resonant until . . . a car splashes down the street and all the frogs, from ten down to one, are hushed! Shirley Parenteau offers a joyfully cacophonous counting-up and counting-down story, vibrantly illustrated by Cynthia Jabar.

Good read aloud. Good noises and counting book, 1-10 and back down again.

My kids LOVE this book! There are lots of opportunities to interact with the kids rather then just reading. We repeat the frog songs, count the frogs, point out the number matching the number of frogs they counted, and they can practice counting forward and backward from 1-10 and back! My 4-year old likes to take the book on her own and count the total number of frogs--at least as far as she can count. Highly recommend. You'll love this one. :)
