Rector Hugh Tarleton has no patience for the Society philanthropists who seek to bestow their pity—and not much else—on his oppressed flock in one of London’s worst neighborhoods. When the daughter of a marquess is kidnapped and brought to the rookery, he vows to protect her, but the temptation to surrender to their mutual desire will certainly ruin them both.

I don't know how Darcy does it but she takes an impossible to resolve storyline, the Rector and the Marquess' daughter, and makes it work. I thought it was headed for a train wreck but I had faith in Darcy. She worked the impossible and they got their HEA! I have really enjoyed these stories revolving around The Wicked Duke's Club. It was like a historical version of the old TV series Cheers. Lady Penelope Wakefield is desperate to escape the marriage her parents are forcing on her. The Earl Findon was the father of Pen's former betrothed. When he died Findon decided to marry her instead and beget another heir. He was old enough to be her grandfather and leterous but her father wanted control of Findon's boroughs and her mother wanted he daughter to be a countess to improve her social standing. When Maisie, a girl from Hugh Tarleton's church befriends her offering to help her get "kidnapped" and get away Penelope jumps at the chance. Unfortunately Pen trusted the wrong person and Maisie skipped town with Pen's money and set her friends Robert & Joseph to kidnap her for real. Rector Hugh witnesses the abduction and interferes, sending the boys off and determines to return her home in the morning. They end up spending a torturous and tantalizing night together at an inn in the rookery of St. Giles. Upon her return home Pen and Hugh find out how much they will risk to be together. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

One Night of Temptation by Darcy Burke is the sixth book in the Wicked Dukes Club by Darcy Burke and Erica Ridley and definitely worth reading. You will love this series if you love great historical romances. I really enjoyed this series! Lady Penelope Wakefield will do anything in order to not marry the man that her parents have decided would make a perfect match for her, including damaging her reputation. Rector Hugh Tarleton takes it upon himself to protect Lady Penelope when he discovers she has been kidnapped and is being held for ransom in the neighborhood where he cares for his congregation, but can they both get out of this situation without surrendering to their mutual desires and with both of their reputations still intact. I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

Darcy has done something I’ve not seen before and made the hero a rector and she now has me wanting more! A simple act of fate brought Huge to her rescue and linked their hearts to each other. Every second they are together the heat builds and just when you think they will cave something interrupts them. You are left waiting with bated breath many times for different reasons. When you put multiple members of the Wicked Duke together you know they are going to come up with a wild plan. The man her father wanted her to marry made my skin crawl. That whole scene at the church had me on pins and needles. I have to applaud the bishop for how he reacted to everything because it was not what i expected. Penelope is nothing like her parents and the more she is with Hugh, the more her true self comes through. I loved her from the start with how brave and bold she was to escape that marriage. She knew exactly what her heart wanted. Hugh is nothing like you expect him to be and you will love him the minute he winks. He wants to help others and isn’t like most men in many ways. I loved how he thought about things bringing them together and the control he had over himself. The Wicked Duke members are always there for each other. This was my favorite in the series! I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. One Night Of Temptation, by Darcy Burke, is the last story in the Wicked Dukes series. Available at booksellers and on-line on 6-25-19, even though it's part of a series it works very well as a stand alone. I think you'll like the characters enough to backtrack to the beginning. This series was written by Ms Burke and Erica Ridley, 3 books each, intertwining characters must have been brain taxing, but they pulled it off. Our female lead is Lady Penelope Wakefield, daughter of a marquess, expected to do what she's told and marry an old man, grandpa age & not nice. Pen hatches a plot to get away with a "friend", who double crosses her. Mr. Hugh Tarleton, parish rector in St Giles, saves the day just like a knight of old. He's got to be one of the most laid-back, sweet, helpful men I've read in a long time. He may be a rector but he has values that all people should aspire to, like The Golden Rules. When Hugh hears Pens story he agrees to shelter her for 1 night, then she goes home. 1 night is not going to be enough, forever sounds more like it. Pen is a nice, thoughtful, lady who is ecstatic to find love, she didn't think she'd ever have that option. They're perfect for each other. Loyal, empathic, helpful, loving people who'll be terrific as a team and you just know the parish is in good hands. No rogues, no tiresome balls or visiting hours. This book is all about people, feelings, determination and love. I liked that. Happy reading. #NetGalley #WickedDukes #DarcyBurke #OneNightOfTemptation

Two likeable people, Lady Penelope and Rector Hugh, are thrust together under unusual circumstances - her kidnapping. I feel the author should have included some female friends from the previous books in the series to help her along the way. A rector keeping a young woman out all night to help her ruin herself is a bit over the top for me. I did enjoy the entire Wicked Dukes Club Series! I received an ARC for my honest review.

Lady Penelope Wakefield has a plan to avoid a society marriage she does not want or welcome. Her brilliant plan is foolproof until a handsome sexy rector comes to her rescue. Rector Hugh Tarleton has no patience for the Society philanthropists, his flock in London’s worst part of town so when he sees the daughter of a marquess is kidnapped and brought to the rookery, he vows to protect her. Penelope was desperate to escape such a marriage so she must be ruined one way or another. Penelope and Hugh are attracted to each other and grow closer even though they come from different backgrounds. Can a sweet love be worth the gamble, can they overcome obstacles to be together? I loved this sweet story of a two people falling in love and then finding a way to overcoming family and society’s obstacles. I have voluntarily read the excellent book and here’s my honest review.

This is the final book in the delightful Wicked Duke Club series. Lady Penelope Wakefield is being forced by her heartless parents to wed the father of her former betrothed who had died suddenly of an illness a year and a half ago. Now the Earl of Findon is old enough to be her grandfather and not a very nice man to boot, so like the other ladies in this series, Penelope takes her future in her own hands, by arranging to be kidnapped. But the plan goes awry and she ends up bring rescued by Hugh Tarleton, who is the rector of a poor neighborhood in London, St Giles. He went to Oxford with the Dukes and Eastleigh is a close friend, thus the connection to the Club. Penelope explains to Hugh her dilemma and he offers to protect her. In that one night that they spend together in the church, they get to know each other. Hugh is looking for a wife who wants to help others, while all Pen wants is kindness, something that she never received from her parents or siblings. Do they two have a future together, when Pen's father is determined to marry her to Findon, for his own greedy purposes? I received a free ARC as a member of the author's review crew. This is my voluntary and unbiased review.

I received an ARC of this book to read in through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. Once Night of Temptation by Darcy Burke is the sixth book in the series Wicked Dukes Club that she writes jointly with Eric Ridley. Darcy writes the even numbered books and Erica writes the odd numbered books. You could read this as a stand-alone but I have very much enjoyed reading the other books in the series. Lady Penelope Wakefield is desperate to get out a marriage her parents have arranged with a gentleman old enough to be her grandfather and who is frankly quite nasty. Her desperation leads her to arrange a false kidnapping and that turns out to be a bit of a disaster but thankfully she is rescued by Rector Hugh Tarleton who is handsome and kind and just what one would look for in a husband if only she was not the daughter of a marquess. Perfect read for a sunny afternoon. Medium steam. Publishing Date June 25, 2019 #OneNightofTemptation #DarcyBurke #WickedDukesClub #DarcyBurkePublishing

One Night of Temptation by Darcy Burke Wicked Dukes Club #6 Throughout the series we have had glimpses of Rector Hugh Tarleton. Each time he appeared I felt more and more intrigued by him and wanted to know more. He sounded like a man dedicated to the people in his flock located in a less than desirable neighborhood. So, when he appeared to save Lady Penelope Wakefield from an attempted kidnapping gone awry I was more than curious to see how it would work out. Penelope’s father saw her as a pawn to use to further his own interests and though she knew this was her lot in life was not willing to marry the man her father chose for her (with good reason). She came up with an alternative she thought would save her and thus ended up in the care of Hugh for a night. With scandal averted (not what Penelope was hoping for), the wedding back on and her interest in Hugh and his in her...a few friends from the Wicked Dukes Club and their wives were called in to assist the couple find their HEA. I loved Penelope and Hugh. Their relationship was one I could believe in. They stayed true to their beliefs and one another as they moved forward toward a love everlasting. Great ending to a marvelous series! Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review. 4-5 Stars

Freedom! Now just to get to her friend in St Giles and she would escape the marrige to that awful man! But Lady Penelope Wakefield only found herself in a jam as two ruffians tried to kidnap her! But fate, or could it be devine intervention! steps in and Rector Hugh Tarleton steps in and rescues her. Ironically he knew the lads and could only try to set them back on the right path! Hugh is one of the last in a group of friends who meet at The Wicked Duke tavern. Surprised to find the lady was Penelope that was being kidnapped, he took her to a nearby inn to sit and talk so he could find out what was happening. Hugh had such a compassionate heart and as she talked to him it seemed he sparked something within her... Her goal was to make herself unmarriagble and look like she was ruined by staying away from home. Brilliant idea? Well maybe, but maybe not. I adored this story. Penelope had not felt a lot of love during her life and as Hugh finds out, she is not the "typical" society peer. Those who can afford it most and barely giveto help the needy. Hugh only wants to protect her and as they talk through the night and get to know each other there is a real connection. Can these two ever come together? A Clergyman and a lady of society? Be prepared to fall in love with Hugh and hope that Penelope can get out of her arranged marriage. A perfect ending to this brilliant series that I have enjoyed through every sigh worthy hero and the women that grab their heart!! Lori Dykes

Lady Penelope Wakefield has a kind heart and wants to marry for love even though she has seen little kindness or love in her home. Her father wants to marry her off to an odious old man (for his own benefit). To escape the marriage, she plans a pretend kidnapping complete with ransom notes, and plans to be gone just long enough to make her parents and the lecherous suitor think she is ruined. It seemed to be a sound plan, but it turns out to be a real kidnapping. She had trusted the wrong person. Fortunately, Hugh Tarleton comes upon the scene and rescues her. Hugh is a wonderful character. He disdains society and their superficial attempts to help the less fortunate. He is a caring man dedicated to his parishioners. They stay up most of that night getting to know each other. He treats Pen with the same protective care and delivers her safely home, but to what? After a bit of soul searching, Hugh decides that he wants to marry Pen. He needs a plan. Who should he go to for advice? He decides to get a little help from his friends (and their wives) at the Wicked Dukes Tavern. Before the plan plays out, there is a confrontation with Pen’s angry father and the Bishop. How does everything turn out? You have to see for yourself. The Wicked Duke is a successful tavern owned by Caleb Sutton, the Duke of Colehaven and Valentine Fairfax, Duke of Eastleigh, the original Wicked Dukes. In One Night of Temptation we meet yet another charming, sigh-worthy patron, sadly the last of London’s most notorious tavern. Hugh and Pen have a lovely story. I enjoyed and happily recommend it. Each of the couples in these stories have learned about themselves and each other. They have found love and acceptance – family. As predicted, The Wicked Dukes Club is an awesome series by Darcy Burke and Erica Ridley. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

ONE NIGHT OF TEMPTATION is the sixth and final instalment in the historical, romance WICKED DUKES CLUB series co-authored by Darcy Burke and Erica Ridley. ONE NIGHT OF TEMPTATION by Darcy Burke focuses on Rector Hugh Tarleton, and twenty-one year old Lady Penelope Wakefield, and can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Told from dual third person perspectives (Penelope and Hugh) ONE NIGHT OF TEMPTATION follows twenty-one year old Lady Penelope Wakefield, the daughter of the Marquess of Baber, as she devises as plan to escape a marriage to a man twice her age, a plan that goes afoul when her scheme to be kidnapped turns dangerous and real. Enter Rector Hugh Tarleton, the man who would rescue our heroine from uncertain fate, and the man with whom Penelope will fall in love. What ensues is the quick building relationship and love between Penelope and Hugh, and the potential fall-out as Penelope’s parents insist she marry the other man. ONE NIGHT OF TEMPTATION is a quick read; a sexy, engaging and delightful historical romance that culminates in a marriage of love. The premise is enchanting: the characters are energetic and flirty; the romance is fun, fast and fabulous.

I’ll be honest and say that this book surprised me; I didn’t know that a rector could have such strong feelings. Even though this is a short read you could feel the connection between Penelope and Hugh from the bet go. They have much in common with wanting to help those less fortunate. I loved how much he wanted to protect her even if she would choose a life without him. It was so fun to read how he involved all the previous couples to help him secure his future with her. Final book in the series and it was a perfect conclusion to it. If you’re looking for a fun, short and steamy in all the right places read for the summer this series is for you. ***Review copy requested and reviewed on behalf of OMGReads Blog***

Loved Hugh, the rector of St. Giles. He rescues Lady Penelope (who cooked up a scheme to avoid marrying the father of her deceased betrothal). Who knew a rector could be so tempting? Recommned.

This story surprised me in the very best of ways. When it started off, I had no idea how it was going to get us where it looked like we were going. First off, we have our clergyman hero. All Thorn Birds references aside, I was a little concerned by the possibility of intimate encounters with a man of the cloth. The author handles the situation with a deft skill I can only admire. But this paled in comparison to the obstacles of our heroine’s parents, the fiancé her father wants her to marry, and the very large difference in the social stations between Penelope and Hugh. This was all handled with some delightfully clever plotting that brought all the previous books’ heroes and heroines back to play. What we get from this is the adorably sweet, yet still a little spicy, story of Penelope and Hugh overcoming the odds. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and I find I’m reluctant to say “goodbye” to these characters. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author through NetGalley.

All it takes is one night to fall in love! Hugh rescues Penelope from a very real kidnapping, only to find out that she has very good reasons to want to be presumed missing for the night. Ever the gentleman, he tries to help her with her end goal, even if it means he’ll never see her again. Their relationship gets right to the heart of what makes a good partnership and marriage, and I loved every quick-witted step as they stay ahead of the Bow Street runners and out of the reach of the common dangers in the area. I love the solution they found, and how Hugh was able to arrange it all. The last scene with her father was priceless. As the last book in the Wicked Dukes series, we have a terrific epilogue that wraps up everyone’s HEA nicely. If you love Regency romances, you don’t want to miss these books. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This is the last book of the Wicked Dukes Club, which is sad because I have loved the series. The series started off awesome and ends with another awesome book. The book has an unusual hero, Rector Hugh Tarleton, who is so good and kind. Hugh rescues Lady Penelope from an attempted kidnapping and then helps her by keeping her safe throughout the night while she tries to end her engagement. I loved seeing Penelope grow into a strong, independent woman. Hugh and Penelope were such amazing characters! I loved seeing all the characters from the previous books appear at the ending since the men from the club helped each other to find their HEA. This is a MUST read series and I know I will be rereading it again. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lady Penelope has developed a plan to help her get away from the odious man that her father has found for her to marry. She has been deceived by the ones which are supposed to help her and is now being kidnapped. She is rescued by a Rector, named Hugh Tarleton. He is handsome and kind. Penelope and Hugh find that they have more in common than either realize. They fall in love, but Hugh is considered beneath her. With the the help of all the friends, whom Hugh considers family from The Wicked Duke, it becomes a reality. I really loved this book. Since Hugh is a Rector, I wondered how it would be handled. I loved the way Hugh held on to his character and still won the girl. It was a great story. I received this book from Net Galley and Darcy Burke Publishing for a honest review. I voluntarily read this book.

One Night of Temptation is the sixth book in The Wicked Dukes Club by Darcy Burke. I truly enjoyed this book up until the last few chapters. Hugh Tarleton is a wonderful character. He is a man of kindness, integrity and everyone’s favorite rector. When he discovers Lady Penelope Wakefield in serious trouble in the slums of St. Giles, he does all he can to help her. Penelope is also a likable character. She’s been sheltered her entire life and groomed to make a wealthy match within the ton. When she finds herself betrothed to an elderly ogre, she makes up a daring plan to escape the marriage - a plan that goes awry. My biggest angst with this story is the blatant inconsistency with Hugh’s character. He serves more than just the people of St. Giles. He serves God. His ending actions don’t reflect that relationship. On the whole I have loved this series. This is the first story that I felt disappointed in. Although the writing is excellent, I just didn’t feel that the character of Hugh stayed consistent with the man portrayed in the story. I was gifted a copy of this book.

This is the last book in the Wicked Dukes Club series and I've enjoyed it so very much, I wish they would continue on forever:) Darcy Burke proves herself to be an awesome writer once again with "One Night of Temptation"!! This one is a bit unusual as it involves a Rector as the hero of the story but oh, what a handsome and worthy hero he is. Rector Hugh Tarleton finds himself in the right place at the right time to rescue Lady Penelope Wakefield from being kidnapped by one of his parishioners in the rookeries of London. He learns that she had planned a "kidnap" and to spend a night away from home so that she'd be considered "ruined" and not forced to marry the awful man her parents have chosen for her. However, her plans had gone awry and she really was being kidnapped for real until Hugh came along. He vows to protect her but spending the night with her is filled with temptation!! I loved the story, I loved the characters, I loved the slow burn, I loved it all! Darcy Burke and Erica Ridley have done an exceptional job with this series and I, as a reader, thank them for giving us such enjoyable books to read. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Penelope wasn't about to marry the man her father picked for her. In an attempt to make the ton (and her would be fiancee) think she was ruined, someone actually did try to kidnap her. Luckily, Hugh was there to save her. They end up spending the rest of the day and night together and neither can believe the feelings that develop in that short amount of time. But will Penelope's parents let her marry a lowly rector? I really enjoyed the last book in the Wicked Dukes Club series. I loved watching Penelope and Hugh fall for one another. Their chemistry was red hot from the moment they meet. I'm sad to see this series end, but I have throughly enjoyed it!

One Night of Temptation is a perfect series ending to The Wicked Dukes Club. The whole series, alternately authored by Erica Ridley and Darcy Burke, was so enjoyable to read, with charming and slightly rakish heroes and independent, and sometimes feisty heroines. Penelope Wakefield plans to escape her father’s efforts to marry her off to a lecherous, older suitor by faking her own abduction so she is “ruined.” Unfortunately, it becomes a real kidnapping. Hugh Tarleton who is a rector in St. Giles, a notorious slum area in London, observes her being kidnapped and rescues her. Darcy Burke did a wonderful job with the story of Pen and Hugh and their romance. He is such a caring man and Pen is able to see that in how he treats his parishioners and others in St. Giles area. This work is probably my favorite in the series although they are all delightful reads. I was fortunate to receive an advanced copy of this work to review. All opinions stated are voluntary and my own.
