I started this book, and I was so saddened for Darian.  To lose anyone is devastating. To lose your first love at such a young heart went out to her. In her quest to ease the pain in her heart, Darian begins a journey that only the strongest of souls can survive. And she has a strong soul.  The author did a wonderful job of surprising me with this book. A couple of chapters in and I was starting to predict the ending, but oh no no...the author was not going to make it that easy on me. I was delighted with the ingenuity of this tale and with the overall writing. "Twilight closed the day like cinders slowly losing their glow in an overnight fire."  Just beautiful! I was really pleased with the path the book took. When I so-called, "predicted" the ending, I just wasn't quite comfortable with what I thought was going to happen, and the author came through! This book is actually worth a re-read because of the complex characters who all had stories to tell, and who were all equally intriguing. Romantic, scary, poignant. One Petal Flower was an awesome read.
