In Bishop's third novel featuring multi-tasking, CSI wannabe, Jemma Chase, and Detective Tucker, she excels in writing suspect characters that are complex. When a local journalist is murdered during the photography club meeting at Jemma's aunt and uncle's Dude Ranch, she does her best to restrain her detecting instincts so she won't jeopardize Tucker's career. In the meantime, Tucker threatens their relationship by getting involved with an old flame. Jemma grows in character in this book and as always, Bishop puts the reader right in the mountains watching for clues. The suspense held up throughout the story as I tried to figure out who had done it, and, finally I received a surprised ending to satisfy!

Each of her books keep getting better and better. I have read all of Ms Bishop's books and hope she continues, whether with the Dude Ranch Series or going in a different direction. Always enjoy meeting and talking to her at the many shows in the mountains of NC.

Maggie Bishop always gives us a good mystery as well as making us feel that we're insiders in the world she and her characters live in In this book she's taken us to Jemma's photography club meeting where - since it's a mystery - a popular local photo journalist drops dead - apparently from poison. Detective Tucker and his partner are called in and the members of the club all seem likely suspects. Each has someone to hide. The genius of any good mystery writer is to keep us guessing until the end even though the information is in plain sight. Maggie Bishop has done it again.
