About the Author

Tia Louise is the USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of the “One to Hold” and “Dirty Players” series, and co-author of the #4 Amazon bestseller The Last Guy.

She loves all the books as long as they have romance, all the chocolate as long as it’s dark, and strong coffee. After years as a teacher, an editor, a journalist, and finally a magazine editor, she decided to start writing love stories and never stopped.

She lives in the Midwest with her trophy husband, two teenage geniuses, and one grumpy cat.

4 star The story has laughs, twists and turns, betrayal, ton of pleasure, and heartbreak. I would recommend reading the below before reading this story One to Hold (One to Hold, #1) One to Keep (One to Hold, #2) One to Protect (One to Hold, #3) One to Love (One to Hold, #4) This is Mariska and Stuart’s story. Stuart is in a bad place. When he came into the gym and Mariska met him she felt a pull to him like she had never felt before. Now she is having dreams about him. When she finds out that Elaine is going to see him she tags along. She does not really know Patrick or Elaine as she is friends with Kenny but they agree that she can go. Chemistry between Stuart and Mariska is out of control but Stuart has decided he is going back where he thinks he needs to be. They spend a lot of time together and grow close but one jealous person whispers lies in Stuart’s ears and he pushes Mariska away. Will he be able to win her back or will he just head back to work on move on? I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I recommend this book, the series, and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

Tia has seriously mastered the art of writing a series that gets better and better with each addition. While this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend you start at the beginning as these characters and their stories are interconnected. One To Leave was one that I just could not put down! “Deep in my heart, I knew he belonged to me, but that wounded warrior wasn’t letting anyone in. He had his plans, and for whatever reason, they didn’t allow room for love.” Stuart Knight returns from his service in the Marines, a broken man. He battles demons and struggles to return although he is injured. He wants nothing more than to give his service to his country. But deep down, he knows he must heal...physically and emotionally. Fate allows Stuart to meet Mariska Heron for a brief moment. But that brief moment was all that it took. Mariska felt something in that meeting. Something she is not willing to let go. “You saved me from going back to a life that was killing me. How?” Stuart ends up at his uncle’s ranch in Montana to heal and this sexy cowboy absolutely stole my heart. Without giving it away, fate intervenes once again and Mariska ends up at this ranch. Stuart feels this pull towards the beautiful woman. He is not interested in love, but his soul has recognized it’s other half in Mariska. Their pull is almost magnetic. I felt it. And it only deepens with time.  “You loved me when I wasn’t strong enough to love myself, let alone you.” I found One To Leave to be the most sensual of all the books in the series. It’s not something that can be described, the connection is simply felt. Their chemistry is undeniable. The idea of fate and one’s soulmate is a constant and common theme throughout this book. I wouldn’t call this insta love. I would call this desire. Stuart and Mariska whole heartedly desire one another. This desire is passionate. It allows two people to truly follow their heart. This story is simply romantic.  “Be sure to thank your soul for wanting my broken one.” Overall, One To Leave continues to add to the list of books by this author I have enjoyed and devoured. What I love about this series is that there are so many personalities that you will never find in any other series. Tia Louise’s writing adds depth to her characters and their stories. You will find yourself wishing you can be friends with him in real life. One To Leave is a heartfelt and wonderful addition to this series. I am absolutely over the moon that there will be more!

"Sometimes it takes more courage to give up one dream for a new one." ~ Mariska Minor spoilers alert!!!  Another sexy, feel good contemporary romance in the One To Hold series! I liked how author, Tia Louise mixed in some humor and plenty of steamy scenes to balance out the more series issues of Stuart’s secret addiction to pain meds, his identity crisis and his steadfast reluctance to commit to a romantic relationship. In addition to Mariska and Stuart's POVs, this novel also features multiple POVs from a few of the series returning characters like Derek, Patrick, Elaine and even Nikki.  'My lips moved to her cheek, and I held myself over her. "Stuart wouldn't be lost if he had this." Derek Derek’s concern for his business partner and former Marine buddy, Stuart Knight was touching and sincere. I loved how Melissa understood his need to go after his friend and offer his support. 'Stuart Knight had locked his heart up tight, but I was determined to break in and steal it.' Mariska I found Mariska’s quirky, passionate, vibrant, youthful and determined personality quite charming. She trusts her instincts about Stuart and follows him to his uncle’s ranch after a brief introduction and a disturbingly psychic dream. Their connection is immediate, but Stuart stubbornly fights against it. They give in to their attraction quickly and fall into a very passionate but tempestuous relationship. I loved the discussion that Stuart’s uncle Bill and Mariska had about how long it can take to break a colt because it was analogous to Mariska and Stuart’s stormy relationship. Bill gives her wonderful encouragement at the end of their conversation. ‘I pictured Stuart like one of those wild horses, running free, refusing to take shelter, being injured… Bill pushed away from the fence and turned to me. “I’ve been watching this phenomenon for years. It takes patience, a gentle hand, and a lot of love.” I squinted up at him. “Patience is the hardest part.” “Yep.” He looked past me at the horizon. “But I think you’ve got what it takes.” 'I had no strategy for Mariska. She intoxicated me like nothing I’d ever experienced.' Stuart I liked Stuart’s quick desire to protect and possess Mariska despite his misgivings about not wanting to have emotional ties or someone back home who’d expect letters. He had his plan for kicking his addiction to pain medication. Fighting the push and pull of his attraction to Mariska was entirely another matter.  “Time passes, situations change. Mom never expected Dad to be killed, but it happened. Now she’s looking at a new path.” His hazel eyes cut to mine. “You’ve got to see when it’s time to change paths, start something new.” Patrick I love Patrick’s advice to Stuart. It gets him to think about how being with Mariska actually made him feel happy for the first time since he left the military, that she could be the someone new he could serve and protect. “You loved me when I wasn’t strong enough to love myself, let alone you.” “I had no choice,” I smiled, kissing him back. “I saw you and my soul came to life inside me. All the reason no one was ever good enough made sense. They weren’t you.” Stuart finally gets his head out of his bum and embraces his feelings for Mariska and just in time for his brother, Patrick’s wedding. Be sure to read the epilogue from Elaine’s POV and the bonus chapter from Patrick’s POV at the end. I loved Patrick's reaction to Elaine's fashion show. And their wedding vows were so perfectly matched.

The settings are in different places from big cities and penthouses to a ranch in Montana and a beach house on the East Coast ...In every instance I could not wait till the next book in this series...

My Rating: 4.5 Favorite Quotes: “He might color outside the lines, but he manages to turn it around and come out on top. He's a good man.” “My need to protect her was overwhelming. I'd never felt anything like it. She was sunshine and warmth and fire under my skin.” “Elaine's voice grew wistful, 'If you love someone, set him free.' ... 'If he doesn't come back, hunt him down and kill him.'” “He kissed me like I was a country to be liberated, and he was he Marine for the job.” “I saw you and my soul came to live inside me.” “The first time I saw you in Arizona, I knew you were something special. Only, I thought it would just be a week-long special.” My Review: This was my first time reading Tia Louise, and I don't know what took me so long – I could kick myself. It was well-written, emotive, insightful, descriptive, and held my attention beginning to end. I am an instant fan. The sensual scenes were volcanically hot and had me gasping to catch my breath. Written with a melancholy air, this piece was frequently angsty, occasionally humorous, and continually engaging. I am hooked. I want to go backward in the series and read them all. Tia Louise currently hold the top spot on my favorites list.

Swoony, sexy, and sinfully delicious... Tia spins a sexy tale that is emotionally gripping as our hero battles the serious demons of addiction and our heroine does everything she can to set him free. When he spoke, his voice was tight. "Don't set your sites on me Mariska." Hazel eyes burned into mine,  "When the time comes, I will leave." This story is not just about Stuart and Mariska.  The story begins with Nikki and the fact that she had one amazing night with Stuart before he left for active duty and she is looking forward to adding many more nights when she picks him up from the airport.  You can only imagine her heartbreak when Stuart makes it clear that he is not interested.  She will not give him up without a fight though and we get to see Nikki's true colors towards the end of this read.  Tia may very well end up writing "one" amazing story about Nikki someday that will have all of us looking at her in a different light. Stuart is trying to get his head on straight and flush his system of all the pain killers he has been taking because of a career ending injury.  He is a Marine and needs to get back in the line of duty even if it means private security in the Middle East.  He plans to leave as soon as he possible can.   Mariska has been having these crazy dreams where people are being shot at and there is a lot of pain and suffering going on.  She does not understand why these dreams are happening until the day she meets Stuart Knight.  He came by the gym with a message for Kenny and Mariska could see that he was hurting and offered to make him one of her famous smoothies.  One brush of the hand and she knew that she was connected to him somehow.  Her grandmother told her many stories about her visions and taught her how to read turkish coffee grounds.  She trusted her gut and when the opportunity arose to go see Stuart at his uncle's ranch she only hoped that she had the power to heal him. Stuart is stunned when he looks into Mariska's hazel eyes and feels a sense of peace wash over him.   "Just looking at her beautiful eyes seemed to help me relax, and her cheeks blossomed with that rosey glow.  My gaze dropped to her full, pink lips, and a force inside me pulled.  it didn't make sense, but I wanted to explain why I couldn't stay with her, why I couldn't take her with me." I found myself fanning myself one minute and tearing up the next.  Tia writes a very powerful story about drug addiction and withdrawal filled with hope and healing.  Her characters are complex and have insatiable chemistry as well as a spiritual connection to each other.  I have loved this series from the beginning and was super excited to be reunited with Derek, Melissa, Kenny, Patrick, Elaine, Slade and Lane.  I can't wait to read what Tia comes up with next.
