All Everleigh Carsen wanted to do was complete her final semester at Hensley University and begin the life she planned.
When a wave of violent crime seizes campus, Everleigh is persuaded by her best friend to attend a school sponsored self-defense seminar, where she meets volunteer instructor, Hunter Charles. After Everleigh's biting sarcasm induces Hunter to eject her from class, an explosive relationship is born.
Everleigh is determined to forget the striking man, but fate-that fickle shrew- continuously intervenes. Unable to escape him, she casts Hunter as her prime adversary. The only complication...Hunter is resolutely pursuing his vindication...by any means necessary. Verbal warfare ensues, and despite Everleigh's ingenious efforts, in Hunter, she has finally found her equal.
Only For You is a compelling tale of friendship, desire, and redemption-brimming with witty characters, intelligent dialogue, unexpected twists, profound sorrow, unfettered hope, and love's unassailable perseverance.

“Plato Said, ‘Love is a serious mental disease.’ Damn that guy was smart.” –Everleigh, OnlyFor You Everleigh Carsen aka ‘Ev’ is preparing to graduate college with her best friend since childhood, Samantha Whitney. Girls attending Hensley University are being gruesomely attacked. Sam enrolls both her and Ev into a self-defense course, much to Ev’s displeasure. Hunter Charles is an instructor for the self-defense class. Their initial meeting is anything but enjoyable, but nothing is what it seems as Ev and Hunter find each other forced to endure each other’s presence. I loved the use of quotes at the beginning of each chapter. They somewhat foreshadowed what was going to happen in the chapter or where the situation was headed. I am a total quote girl and loved having such an awesome variation throughout the book. Ev and Sam’s friendship is truly beautiful and I admire both of these characters. I always looked forward to when they would be together in the story and I enjoyed their characters probably more than I did Ev and Hunter. I loved that since childhood Sam did nothing without Ev. From ballet, to piano and even college Ev and Sam were inseperable. Their bond is a true testament to friendship and sisterhood! Everleigh is incredibly witty and a hysterical character. I love female characters with wit and sarcasm and she was full of it. Her comebacks and internal dialogue, even in stressful situations, was so funny and kept the story going forward. The movement of the story with Everleigh and Hunter was sometimes slow. Hunter is so mysterious and aside from his back and forth banter between him and Ev, I sometimes found myself getting frustrated with him. While the characters in this book are all awesome and loveable and there is so much wit and hilarious moments, there are also really tough issues that come through. There are moments that are so heartbreaking, but the characters involved are truly inspiring. I truly didn’t know what to expect with this book, but was pleasantly surprised. I LOVED it. I cannot wait to read Sam’s story next! *I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
I don't have enough words to describe Only For You and how great it is. This book managed to hit on everything a great book should. There are trigger scenes with violence and rape so read with caution if those are a issue. I would highly recommend this book.
I haven’t read a good contemporary new adult book in a while. Truth is, I got tired of the same plot. When I saw this book, something about the synopsis intrigued and so I decided to give it a go. EPIC WIN!! Plot: The reason why I enjoyed this book so much is the great combination of a moving plot and characters. I adore how the plot had a great buildup from beginning to end, always keeping the reader right smack in the story. I could not put this book down. I even stayed up well into the night to finish. And when I was done, I was sooo giddy!!! Love: I like that this love is complicated because it revolves not only around them but what is happening around them. I really loved how they bickered and fought, yet they had a connection that goes much deeper. It’s like the more they said sarcastic comments to each other, the more they got to know each other and fall in love. Friendship: This friendship is awesome! They are truly best friends and always have each others back. Even though they are not blood related they can totally be sisters. The author also gives plenty of insight on Everleigh’s best friend so the reader has enough bite to move on to the second book. Seriously, when your done with this book you will want the second. Ending: Have I mention how fan-freaking-tastic the ending is? It’s amazing. Every bit of the story fell together nicely, giving it a solid ending with some plot for the next book. It’s just awesome. This story has brought me back to NA baby! It’s unique with lots of great elements that kept me engaged till the last page. A stunning story that will leave you smiling, Only For You is astounding!
First, I want to thank Genna for sending me a sweet request to read her book. If she hadn’t of, I probably would have missed out on this wonderful book!! This is one of those books that really grabs you, makes you laugh and cry and fall in love with all the players!! It had me guessing and second guessing the who dunnits and what was really going on. It had me disgusted too. But it was supposed to, there were violent crimes committed! I enjoyed the witty banter between Hunter and Everleigh. It was perfect. It had me grinning from ear to ear often. They were perfect. You could feel the chemistry between the two. Everleigh was so naïve or just in denial in the beginning about Hunter. Everyone else told her so as well. She just believed that the hot and cold from Hunter was because he was gay. Everyone told her that he was crazy about her, but something held Hunter back from giving her his all. I kind of figured out why, but it didn’t matter, it still was jaw dropping good!! I want a Hunter! He is perfection; he makes mistakes but knows how to own up to it! You can’t get better than that!!! Everleigh is best friends, more like sisters, with Sam. Samantha and she have been friends pretty much their whole lives. Sam’s parents are wealthy and Everleigh’s mom was their housekeeper and anywhere that Sam went she insisted Everleigh go too. So Everleigh was given much as well. When Everleigh’s mom died, Sam was all she had left and demanded to her parents that Everleigh gets pretty much what she got. Sam’s parents were well to do and gave everything money could buy to their daughter but they lacked in actually being there for her. So Sam and Everleigh were inseperable. Now they are in their last year in college together. When a string of violent crimes on women on campus increases and the violence ends up in deaths, things become a little tense at school but Everleigh is determined to finish her last semester out so she can get her degree and not finish somewhere else a year later. Everleigh and Sam have some amazing friends and for the most part they both make good choices. Some are harder than others to make. They both are the forgiving type and are kind and non judgmental. Everleigh and Hunter make mistakes but due to Everleigh’s forgiving nature and Hunter’s cute, witty, creative and sincere apologies, Everleigh holds on to this man that wants to be her best friend. Their conversations are deep and he treats her with respect and utter kindness. He takes care of her. But Hunter tells her that he is in no place now to be anything more than a best friend to her now. The chemistry is overwhelming and when they finally give in to what they want from each other, it doesn’t help. She wants more and he won’t give it to her. She kicks him out. What happens from there, I am not telling. You have got to read it for yourself. I can’t do this book justice! Yes, there is F bombs in here, but they are placed in moments of anger. So, I get it. It is not used in everyday context. But it is an excellent story, refreshingly different with chemistry and banter and wit that kept me giggling. There is a friendship that is selfless between the girls and it is everything I would hope for with my own kids. I would ask it for myself if I wasn’t already married with great friends. It is easy to get lost in this book. Well actually I did, I went well into the night reading this to finish it up. Now, I NEED the next book now. It doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, but I want to see what happens with Sam next. Because, it has the set up for another stellar guy and I love those types of guys that are kind and caring and selfless and know how to treat a girl. Quotes that I enjoyed…. “I gave her a brief rundown of what had occurred; subsequently Sam… lost her mind. She let fly a string of curses that would have made the most hardened ‘Sons of Anarchy’ biker blush, in combinations I was certain had never before been conceived before. She threatened every part of ….’s person ending with a threat to castrate him and shove his balls so far down his throat that he would have breasts. She raged while pulling her earrings from her ears and slipping off her shoes, threatening to find him ………or wherever he may be.” “I already knew, for me there is only you. No matter what happened between us in the future, it would only ever be you. I was made for you- only for you” “I need you now, knowing you’re really mine, not having to censor my words or shutter my emotions. I need you to see and feel how deeply I love you. Can I have you, angel? Can I have all of you and keep it?”
Only For You is the first book in a new series by Genna Rulon. It's a great New Adult romance told from the view of Everleigh – a college student at Hensley University. After many attacks on female college students, Everleigh’s friend Sam convinces her to take the self-defense course that the school is offering. Here is where she meets Hunter – the hot instructor who kicks her out of class. Feeling humiliated, she is determined to forget all about him...but that's hard to do when he ends up being everywhere she turns. There's a lot of comical banter between Hunter and Everleigh, and they end up being friends. Everleigh is a great heroine – she is a strong and witty character. She and Hunter have personalities that mesh so well, they fit together like 2 puzzle pieces. Because of some ridiculous reasoning on her part, Everleigh thinks that there's no chance that Hunter could ever be attracted to her (but I won't spoil what that reason is). She falls really hard for Hunter though. The story is only told from her point of view, so you don't really know what is going through Hunter's head. The mystery revolving the attacks is written amazingly. Not only do you feel a slight creepy vibe throughout the book, but you always feel on guard as a reader because you never know when the next attack is going to happen. The plot is really interesting and the character development is great too. Another character I really liked was Everleigh’s friend Sam. I see that the second book in this series is about Sam, and that makes me really happy. There's a lot of mystery, comedy, and romance going on – but my favorite part was the romance. Hunter and Everleigh have a lot of passion together. There's a lot of sexual tension leading up to when they FINALLY have their first love scene. It isn't detailed like in a lot of books, but yet it isn't glossed over either. I've been in a bit of a reading slump lately, and this book helped to pull me out of it. It was perfect and the writing was wonderful. I'm really looking forward to book #2!
You know that giddy feeling when you’re reading a book? The OMG THIS is why I read so much feeling? That is exactly how I felt as I read Only For You! I smiled the entire time reading. Couldn’t put it down!I became so engrossed in Everleigh and Hunter’s story. Everleigh Carsen and her best friend Samantha are attending college in Long Island, New York. Recently, there have been violent attacks on women across campus. Samantha convinces, or forces Everleigh to take free defense classes that are being offered to the women on campus. During their first session, Hunter Charles enters as their instructor. Sweet. Baby. Jesus. I loved him the moment he waltzed into the scene. Of course Everleigh makes a snarky comment and gets kicked out of the defense class on the first day! That isn’t the last she’s seen of Hunter Charles. He shows up in her life. Again. I absolutely adored this book. The banter between Everleigh and Hunter was hilarious. From the moment they met, the spark was there. They immediately connected. Due to unknown circumstances, Hunter could only offer Everleigh friendship. But, as they grew closer, deep down they both wanted more. They became best friends and suddenly Everleigh realized she fell in love with her best friend. By accident. Talk about angst and sexual tension! There was plenty of that in this story. But most of all you get to watch two beautiful individuals fall in love. Yet their love is challenged by means beyond their control. There are twists and turns in this story that you never see coming. “I wish I could tell you how much you mean to me, but words would never be enough” “He had a skull and crossbones label on him, but I drank his poison nevertheless and loved it; now I needed an antidote.” I really enjoyed the realism of this story. Everleigh was a great heroine in that I found her relatable. She was witty and intelligent. Hunter was funny, mysterious and sexy. I loved getting to know them, as well as Everleigh’s best friend Sam. As you read this story, you become so close to Everleigh and Hunter that when they are forced apart, you hurt for them. Their story attests that love truly endures all and knows no boundaries. True love cannot be denied. “Can I have you, angel? Can I take all of you and keep it?” While lovers of Slammed and Easy will love this book, don’t go into it thinking that it’s similar. This was such a strong debut, and I would definitely put it in a league of it’s own! There was a part of this book that was quite emotional. The subject matter was heavy, but the author dealt with it well. It was so refreshing to read a new adult novel that was so well-written. The plot, the characters, the pace of the story were my favorite parts of the book. The pace is slower than others, but I think this allowed us to truly connect to the characters. Overall, I highly recommend this read! You will laugh (out loud), tear up a little, and swoon. This book definitely reminded me why I enjoy reading so much. I cannot wait for more from this author. P.S. Can we PLEASE get more Everleigh and Hunter?
