Overview

Only You by Melanie Harlow

Nate Pearson is ridiculously handsome and wears the hell out of a suit and tie, but I've seen the parade of beautiful women leaving his apartment across the hall--a different one every time--and I want no part of it. When it comes to romance, I'm looking for something real, something that will last: the happily ever after.

As a divorce attorney, he loves to tell me there's no such thing.

As a wedding planner, I choose to disagree.

We disagree on almost everything, in fact. Everything except James Bond. The only time we really get along is when we're watching 007 flicks together, and I'll admit--he has rescued me from a disaster or five. So when one of the baton twirlers from his parade leaves a baby girl at his door with a note that says "I'll come back for her" and he begs me for help, I can't turn him down.

But it's a mistake.

Because watching him with his daughter, I start to see another side of Nate, a side that has my breath coming faster, my body craving his, my heart longing for him to change his mind about love and tell me there's a chance for us.

I don't want to be just another girl leaving his apartment in the morning.

I want to be the one he asks to stay.

Every time I read a book by Melanie Harlow, I am always struck by how relatable, supportive, and hilarious her female characters are. Only You was no different, and I loved Emme, her sisters, and friends/relatives right from the start. Nate wasn't half bad either ;) I was sucked right into Emme and Nate's story and didn't want to put it down. I loved their witty banter and their chemistry was off the charts! The will they/won't they created a delicious build up that set the stage for an explosion once they gave into their feelings. Their completely opposite outlooks on love and life made for a bumpy road, but given the history of our characters, it made perfect sense. Throw in the stress of becoming a parent overnight and it's no wonder that for every step forward they took, they also stumbled backward a few as well. I may not have agreed with the decisions Nate and Emme made, but I certainly understood them. Watching our characters grow and transform into stronger versions of themselves (whether it was becoming a parent or recognizing one's worth) was wonderful. I loved the theme of wishes throughout the book and Only You left my heart hopeful and happy. This was a really sweet and at times very emotional friends to lovers/single dad romance. There were a few push and pull heart stomping moments, but also tender, make your heart swell with joy times too. Melanie Harlow will have you feeling all the feels in this wonderful contemporary romance! 4.5 stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book*

This book was such a delight to read. Perfection in a novel to regroup myself. It’s full of hysterical moments, a life altering journey into fatherhood, self reflections, understanding the difference between fairytales & reality. The words spoke to me page after page. Correlating a connection with the characters was easy. The romance, heartache & sexual interactions take twists & turns you will not expect. The smut is written to perfection; not overbearing & not graphic or distasteful. There is plenty of humor to make you truly laugh out loud. Small areas where a reader may need tissues (I did). With a fantastic ending that I hope continues on in the next book with this series. Overall dive into a truly delightful, fun, energetic novel for all readers. CHEERS!

A sticky molasses of romance and sweetness!!! In Melanie Harlow’s latest novel, Only You, she has readers smiling big!!! Yes, this book was just downright cute, simple, sweet, and utterly adorable. The idea of two neighbors who are just friends discovering that feelings runs deep is a story line that I can’t resist. Toss in a baby into the mix, then you got a book that had me grinning like a fool. So all there is left to say go fall in love with these characters as a divorce attorney and a wedding planner discovers that sometimes the one you are looking for might be right in front of you. And for Nate, his only one is Emme, the next door neighbor.

Don't you love those moments when a book perfectly matches your mood? Well, that is what happened with this awesome book by the lovely Melanie Harlow. This book had everything I was looking for and then some. It was a friends to lovers, low angst, super swoony book. There was some mild twists and turns, but mostly this book was what you need if you just want to feel good. I loved every second of it. And as always, I love catching up with some of Melanie's amazing characters from her other series. All in all, I loved this book so much and it left me with a big smile on my face. Can't wait for the next Melanie Harlow swoonfest!

Melanie Harlow has written an effortlessly engaging storyline with steady pacing in the form of ONLY YOU. This sweet, friends to lovers romance features two very charming characters in their own right. One’s a divorce attorney who refuses to believe in love and relationships, and the other is a wedding planner who is an advocate for love and happily ever after’s. Naturally the two are going to have some interesting confrontations with hilarious, witty banter. They’re by no means compatible upon first glance, but that’s part of the beauty of this relationship. They have undeniable chemistry and a relatibility that pulls the reader in. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the transformational journey that these two take, especially our single dad hero. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll pant, you’ll swoon. Get ready to ooh and aww in this incredibly heartfelt romance!

Author Melanie Harlow knows how to make us swoon... Hard! Nate & Emme are amazing characters she created. Their story of opposites attracting is an entertaining one. Even though they seem like there is no way these two can come together to agree on anything, the major surprise that comes to Nate is the key to bringing these two together. I enjoyed the development of Nate and Emme learning to see past their old selves & come together in their time of need. Love has no boundaries and Nate will swoon your socks off! Go One click and Get ready to Only be in love with Nate as your new book boyfriend.

Loved it! I couldn't stop reading. Loved the friendship Emme and Nick had before they started their relationship, and even though they were opposites they fit perfectly together. Can't wait for the next book in this series and to find out more about these two. ??

Emme lives across the hall from Nate. She is a wedding planner and ironically he's a divorce attorney. He's pretty much a player and she's looking for her happily ever after. Both of them know that they aren't suited. He's pretty much her rescuer from everything Emme. The fixes she gets herself in are hilarious. When these two want down time they spend it together with take out and James Bond movies. They have real conversations and have gotten to be pretty good friends. Nate's world is turned upside down when a baby is left at his doorstep. Now Emme's rescuing him. I can't say enough good things about Nate and the way he stepped up and took care of his sweet girl. The more time Nate and Emme spend together the more other feelings and attractions build. All Nate wants is for Emme to be happy and have everything she deserves. He just doesn't think he deserves her or can be the type of man she needs. He is such so awesome and so, so wrong. Emme just wants to be loved, to be someone's everything. What I absolutely love about the way Melanie writes is that it pulls me into the story. I was right there helping out with Paisley and giving 'Gibbs slaps' to the back of Nate's head when he was pushing Emme away. The way the story evolved was really good. I can't say enough good things about this story. I laughed, I was sad for both Emme and Nate and I was elated with the outcome.

Nate, a divorce attorney, knows all about love gone wrong. With his job, he sees all kinds of examples how "love" fails. Nate's idea of commitment is an endless stream of one-night stands. As a child, Nate had good examples of love until tragedy struck. Nate knows how painful love can be, thus deciding love is not for him. Until... Emme is a dreamer. Emme wishes on stars, makes wishes on magic numbers (11:11), and believes in fairytales. But Emme is not so lucky in love. As a wedding planner, Emme believes in happy endings, love and commitment dreaming of the day she will walk down the aisle. Nate is Emme's neighbor who always seems to come to her rescue. Nate and Emme constantly tease, offer advice, and bicker as to who plays the best James Bond. While watching a Bond movie, Emme and Nate are interrupted by a crying baby. They open Nate's door to find a crying baby and a note. It appears Nate has a baby he knew nothing about. Shocked, Nate faints. Emme, a former nanny, helps Nate take care of Paisley. Working together, Nate starts to realize he likes having Emme around. While Nate realizes that his carefree, single life was lonely he's not ready to give in to his feelings. I believe this is one of the best Melanie Harlow novels I've read! I LOVED it! Only You had it all....witty banter, heartache, childhood tragedy, cute baby, and the stuff dreams are made of. I thought it hilarious that Emme wished on magic numbers. I thought I was the only one who did that! Lol. I also enjoyed the "guest" appearance of Lucas and Mia. Heartwarming and enjoyable from start to finish. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Only You by Melanie Harlow is a standalone romance. Two people could not be more different. Emme is a wedding planner and a believer in happily ever afters. Even though she can't seem to find her own. Nate is a cynical, divorce attorney. His past has taught him that there are no happily ever afters. He is a happy man with his bachelor life style and endless one night stands. When Nate finds a baby on his door step, his world comes crashing down. While helping Nate learn how to take care of his daughter, Emme finds herself falling hard and fast. This book evokes all the "feels". You too, will fall hard and fast for Nate. Emme and Nate have great chemistry. Their steamy, hot, goodness is off the charts. They will make you laugh out loud, swoon and break your heart. In true Melanie Harlow fashion this book has it all!

Only You by Melanie Harlow is a wonderful read! I enjoyed since the very first page until the very last! As always Ms Harlow mixes humour with romance and wonderful characters creating a read impossible to put down! Although we read about characters from previous books, this story can be read as a standalone.is Nate Pearson is a divorce attorney, he plays with women, he has no interest at all to settle down, he doesn't believe in love and happy endings. He takes what he wants whenever he wants it. Emme Devine is his neighbor next door and a sort of good friend. She works as a wedding planner and a romantic by heart. She falls hard for any possible candidate and then she feels sad and dissapointed. Everything changes when something happens and nothing will be the same... It is a very entertaining read, I loved the characters and Harlow's prose. Her sense of humour is a plus for me!

Anxious... Nervous... Scared... Nah... I was super happy to have news from this author. Can you see this picture? A new book plus an author you adore equals an amazing good time... Hell yeah. Let's dig in... Melanie Harlow is amazing and her books just came to reinforce my theory. Her writing is hot, intense, sweet and wild at the same time. Each book is a rush of adrenaline and I can't contain my excitement. Only You is her latest release and tells the stories of Nate and Emme. Emme is a wedding planner, a job that brings her so much joy. She's a disaster waiting to happen, lol, but when she's working she's super talented and professional. Normally she's a sweet and happy girl but when an invitation arrived in her mail she almost lost it. Nate is a divorce attorney and a very good looking guy... Ahem... Can I have my wicked way with him? He's Emme's neighbor and they are really good friends. His motto is one night stands with no strings attached but he just got the surprise of his life... Oh my sweet lord what a book this was. The plot is superb, very well written, super engaging and sometimes it was a complete mess. The interation between the characters is beautiful and sweet and you can really see the bond that connected them. The story progressed in a way that made me want to cry, or laugh so hard. If someone was looking I probably would look like a crazy lady but I really didn't care. Once I started to read this book I simply couldn't put it down. It was page after page non stop. The chemistry between them started in a way and it transformed into something else. Get ready for some steamy scenes as well as some heartbreaking ones as well. I really loved this book and I want more. Melanie you rock girl. This book is so sweet, so intense that I fall in love instantly. And the blurb to the next book from this series? Seriously? Do we have to wait till June? That's to long... Can't wait for it too. For the lovers of a good Friends to lovers romance this is your book. You can't miss another day without reading it. Trust me... I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

When I think Melanie Harlow, I think automatic one-click. She is one of my go to authors because I equate her with the romantic comedy movies that I love to watch over and over again. Her characters are always well written with a lot of witty banter between the couple and friends or siblings and I will experience every emotion within the story. Nate and Emme's story is no different. Like so many Harlow books, I was chuckling in the first chapter and then swept into Nate and Emme's story. This story gave me all of the feels and it was such a great friends to lovers story. I also loved that we got to reconnect with some of my favorite characters from earlier Harlow books. It's always nice to reconnect and catch up on characters that you loved. If Passionflix is looking for some great romantic comedies, they need to take notice of Ms. Harlow's work! Loved Nate and Emme's story and I can't wait for the next book in this world.

****4.5**** Nate and Emme are across the hall neighbors who have become friends. Nate is a playboy divorce attorney who doesn’t believe in love. Emme is a wedding planner who has been burned by love in the past, but is still searching for “the one.” When one of Nate’s previous conquests leaves a two month old baby on his doorstep things start the get really interesting for Nate and Emme. Nate doesn’t know the first thing about taking care of a baby, so he needs Emme to help him as much as he can. I loved both characters and watching them fall for one another while taking care of the baby. I also loved Emme’s sisters and the relationship the three of them had. (I’m looking forward to reading their stories.)

4 stars for - Only You - by Melanie Harlow. As with most everything Ms. Harlow writes - I am completely sucked in by the characters she creates and have to see them through to their happily ever after. While this was a complete stand-alone we did get to see a bit of the lives of a few much loved couples from previous series. Emme Devine is a wedding planner that has nothing but bad luck when it comes to finding love. The men she choses are not the right guys for her or at least that what her good friend and hotter than sin neighbor - Nate tells her. She is determined to not make a fool of herself this time and just try and be casual about sex. Emme's plan is working just fine until she tries to tell herself she can do "casual" with Nate. Nate Pearson is a very successful divorce lawyer that has never once planned on falling in love let alone having any sort of committed relationship. The closest relationship he has is the friendship with his neighbor - Emme. They have been good friends for the last three years and he doesn't want to jeopardize that by crossing the line and getting physical. He can't deny that he has been wanting to make the leap more and more lately though and just when he decides to make his move there is a random knock on his door. When Nate opens his door he finds a baby...his baby to be exact and all heck breaks loose after that. Nate experiences all seven stages of grief as he lays to rest Playboy Nate and turns into the father/man he never knew he was capable of becoming...

3.5* "This baby was a harbinger of evil. I could feel it." To say Only You started out with a bang is putting it mildly. Emme and Nate had me laughing out loud, right from the get go. They are total opposites: Emme is a romantic- a believer in the happily ever after, while Nate is your pretty typical womanizer who doesn’t believe in settling down. But they have such a comfortable, easy friendship, which I love. And Nate is always there for Emme, coming to her rescue and saving her from herself, more often than not. But then it's Emme's turn to rescue Nate, when Paisley is left at his door. Completely clueless and utterly lost, Nate knows nothing about caring for a baby- one who, until that very moment, he didn’t even know existed. As he scrambled to learn how to care for a baby, Emme was there for him every step of the way. Watching him flounder was really endearing and made for some very funny scenes. Is it wrong to say I enjoyed his struggles? Because I really did! As Nate and Emme spent more and more time together, their relationship started to evolve, and that made me so happy! I thought they were perfect together, Emme thought they were perfect together, and Nate led us all on, thinking he thought they were perfect together, too. Until he let his stupid, over thinking man-brain get the best of him! That’s when it got really frustrating for me. Ugh. Why do all these men feel like they can’t be what the woman needs, even when he’s exactly what she wants??? I get that he had a lot thrown at him all at once, and maybe the two of them should have held off on getting involved when they did, but pull your head out of your butt and man up, darn it. I wish Emme had made Nate grovel more than he did- I felt she was too quick to accept his excuses and apologies, for the hurt he put her through. But I’m glad it didn’t take him too terribly long to come to his senses, even if they shouldn’t have been apart to begin with! They really were perfect together, if you put aside his momentary lapse of smarts. All in all, I was pleased with the way things all worked out in the end, because Emme got her real- she got her happily ever after.

What a beautiful and fun story! I fell in love with Nate and Emme before chapter one was even finished, and it just kept getting better and better! Let's start with Nate first. I LOVE a good single-dad story. Add that to friends-to-lovers and you've got a real winner. Nate is successful, well-off, charming, and ridiculously sexy. He's practically irresistible, and if that wasn't enough, throw a baby into the mix and his sexiness multiplies ten-fold. Emme is fantastic! I loved her and her personality. She's very different from Nate and I think that balance works well for both of them. She's funny, loving, and has the biggest heart, especially when it comes to Nate. But like many women, she struggles with insecurities when it comes to him and her love life in general. I really enjoyed this story and I loved these characters. They're both flawed and beautiful, and their journey will pull you through all the feels. It's full of so much heart and emotion. It's an amazing story that you're going to love.

I loved this book. Nate is just too cute with Paisley. I loved that Emme understood that Nate was overwhelmed and scared but I so wanted to smack him when he kept her at arms length. I can’t wait for Maren’s book.

"Only You. Always You." Melanie Harlow is an amazing writer! She will bring you the good, the bad, and the sexy! I love Nate and Emme's story. I have read many romance backs with the "Surprise Baby" trope and what not, but Only You outshines it all. When we are introduced to Emme, I was laughing hard with her antics. Nate comes in and "saves the day" so to speak. You get a bit of their history and it really is hilarious. I love Emme with her clumsiness and all. With Nate's unexpected surprise, he realizes he needs Emme more than he could ever imagine. And I am not talking about help with his 2 month daughter! This story has some amazing sexy scenes. It connects Nate and Emme to a new level of intensity. What was suppose to be friendship, only grows to more. The challenges were there for this couple, and sadly Nate pushes away. I had a few curse words for him and was hoping in the end, these two would make it. Only You made me feel all the feels. I have a new book boyfriend and definitely have a claim on Nate. Watch out ladies! You will fall for Nate and Emme's love story fast and hard ;)

Melanie Harlow's books are like coming home for me. They are both wonderful and total comfort reads as I know I can always rely on her to deliver an exceptional story filled to the brim with wonderful characters, love, laughter and swoony emotions. That is exactly what we received with Only You. This novel was AMAZING!! I loved Nate and Emme. Their banter, friendship and chemistry was so addicting. On paper Nate Pearson and Emme Devine seem like opposites. Nate, A playboy divorce attorney, cynic and committment phobe puts the brakes on all types of emotional entanglements and is strictly a one-night stand kind of man. Emme, on the other hand is a wedding planner and big believer in the fairytale of love and marriage. She is quick to jump into a relationship and fall in love. But in spite of this, these two have developed a strong friendship and are reliable confidantes to each other. But what happens when Nate has the shock of his life when a former one night stand drops a bomb in the form of a baby on his lap. Will Nate allow his fears about love prevent him from having a forever future with the perfect woman right under his nose?  Gahh I loveee friends to lover stories and add in a baby and I am sold!! I loved Nate in this story so hard! His inner voice was hysterical and so honest. I loved how the author made him seem so genuine and real. I felt his panic so fiercely! Likewise, Emme was fantastic and I enjoyed watching their rollercoaster ride. While there were times I was frustrated with both Emme's willingness to keep putting herself out there and Nate's inability to look past the present, Only You was another solid read from this amazing author! I can't wait for more from her in the future! This was fantastic! Bravo! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula

Dear Ovaries, It was fun while it lasted! But let's be honest, going out in an epic, Nate Pearson induced explosion is pretty much the best way to go. It's all good. Love, Shelly I mean, seriously. The single dad trope is almost always a hit with me. But something about the way this was written - the sparky banter, the adorable tender moments, and the way things unfolded slowly but steadily, starting as friends and adding bursts of heat along the way - my ovaries never stood a chance. I loved these two and this whole adorable story. I sometimes wished for more tender moments and maybe a smidge less heat - but I very likely am in the minority on that (because let's be real - the heat is done very well, and my sappy romance loving heart can be a bit demanding!). But the romantic gestures that lie within? Top notch. The kind that I am powerless against, and the kind that left me with a giant beaming smile on my face at the end of this lovely story. In all? A super feel-good, heart-melting, happy-making story. I loved it! ~ 4.5 Stars

Nate and Emme...oh Nate and Emme. What a really sweet, funny story! I swear, every time I think Melanie can't write a better story, she does! In this latest story, she pairs together Romantic, easy to love Emme with the freaking handsome, love is not for me, Nate. They are neighbors who secretly like each other, but for fear of losing their friendship, keep their feelings locked away behind closed doors. That is until one fateful night that poor Mr.Easter Bunny decoration gets very hot under his ears! That scene, how it was written, was HILARIOUS! I had to re-read it twice just to enjoy the writing. From that moment on, Nate and Emme will never be the same. While the story is similar to others about the male character being against love, marriage, blah, blah, blah, the actual story line and how it was so wonderfully written really sucks you in. While rooting for these two, and the ADORABLE Paisley, there are still moments you want to hit Nate over the head and say "Snap out of i!". Another part of Melanie Harlow's stories that I love is that we do get to see a bit more of her past characters. In this book we get to say hi to Lucas and Mia (swoon) and Nick and Coco (hella swoon). It's like a visiting old friends. So, if you have't gotten the gist, this story is AWESOME and should definitely be on your TBR list! Get on that...NOW! P.S. No real bunnies were hurt in the story or this review.

This friends-to-lovers romance gave me the “feel good” feels. Do you know that easy and comfortable feeling you get from hanging out with old friends? Emme and Nate felt like old friends to me. The two neighbors shared that easy type of friendship that blossomed into so much more. They were such opposites, and you know what they say about opposites. Nate is a commitment-phobe and divorce attorney. Emme is a wedding planner who dreams of finding “the one” to share her life with. Their relationship was filled with a small bundle of drama, a promise of change and some sweet and sexy moments. Only You is one-click worthy.

Trust me: if you enjoy rom-coms with heart and heat... read ANY of Melanie Harlow's books and thank me later! Her new Contemporary Romance, Only You, is available today. Like the books that precede it, she puts an original spin on familiar story lines. For example, this book contains "opposites attract," "sexy neighbors," "friends to lovers," "single dad," and "swoon fest." What sets it apart from other romances is the author's storytelling, characters, plot, humor, feels, and depth of complexity.  Even the infant in the book is a three-dimensional character with a history and authentic traits.  Melanie Harlow never does anything half-way, and as a reader: it never gets old. I LOVE Nate and Emme's story. How they meet, the kind, supportive nature of their friendship, their mutual attraction, and early in the book, they circle the wagons when Nate's world is rocked. As he adjusts to his new normal, he comes to depend on Emme - not just for help with a two-month old daughter, but as a safe harbor in the storms surrounding his life. They both struggle with guarding their hearts from getting involved.  How this develops, comes to a head, and is resolved makes for an incredibly satisfying read.  Already looking forward to Melanie Harlow's next book, but then again: I always do.
