I am going to try to do this without being a spazzy fan girl. Okay, I loved this more than Obsidian, which up until reading this was one of my favorite books ever. (It still is, but this one tops it) I freaking loved this book!! I want to hug it, and pet it, and snuggle it. I want to read it over and over again and shout from the rooftops that everyone should read this!! So much for not being spazzy!! There is a ton of stuff going on with this book. Daemon is even more swoon-worthy than ever, and him and Katy are hotter than ever!! Katy is fighting being with him, but together they need to find out what is going on and try to stay alive in the process. Katy is just as awesome as ever! I seriously think she is one of my favorite fictional characters ever. She is tough, and won't take crap from anyone. She obviously wants Daemon more than she wants to even admit, but out of fear that he isn't really into her and it's just the alien mojo connection working it's magic, she refuses to give in. Not to say there aren't some hot scenes between them. Of course JLA wouldn't let us down with the smexy, but Katy is much stronger than I could ever be in that situation. I totally would have been putty in Daemons hands by now. Daemon is even more incredibly yummy, swoony, melt my heart, awesome in this one. Not that I don't totally love his snarky side, but oh my, his sweet side made me a puddle of goo. No worries, he is still the arrogant, full of himself, cocky Daemon too, but he is out to prove to Katy that what he feels for her is real. He totally 100% wants to be with her not because they are connected now, but because as much as he has tried, he couldn't not want to be with her. She is worth it to him. He knows the consequences for getting involved with a human. He lost his brother because of it, but he can't help it. I don't know how she resists him as much as she does. I would have done naughty things to him!! This book is full of twists. There is plenty of great Daemon/Katy interaction, and then secrets and things that they discover that are quite shocking! JLA knows how to pull you right in and won't let go until you have turned that very last page! This book was like an addiction. If I had to put it down there was like an insistent tug to get back to reading it as soon as possible. If you haven't read any of the Lux series, what are you waiting for? You are totally missing out!! I loved this book with every fiber of my being!!

Holy chocolate chip cookies. This book was hot and I could not put it down. Jennifer did not disappoint in this sequel to Obsidian. It is just as action packed loaded with humor, sarcasm, plot twists and our favorite book blogging heroine Katy. It is pretty much leave me alone, I'm reading, or Oh is it seriously 3am? kinda book where the world seems to fall away and I get to experience what Katy is feeling and almost feel like I am a part of this world of smoking hot aliens, dept of defense peeps around every corner, and trying to figure out certain boys who shall not be named. It is so hard to review this without talking about what happened, but let me try. There are so many conflicts going on, I just want for the characters I love to be happy, but I guess what kind of series would it be then? There is conflict with Dee, not only with Adam and what their relationship should be, but also between Dee and Katy. Katy makes some bad decisions, and I just want to smack some sense into her (and so does Daemon for that matter), but I totally understand her motivations behind each of those decisions. And that makes her still a strong and determined main character that I admire. But anyways, one of her bad decisions eats up pretty much all of her time, and leaves some feelings between her and Dee. There is also the DOD peeps, and several other new characters that I had absolutely no idea what to think of. They can seem so harmless and good intentions one second, and then the next I am questioning them and wondering if I am paranoid. The drama between Katy and Daemon is so thick you can cut it with a knife. And I love every second of it. Their bickering, his pen pokes, the sexy moments and the whispered endearments and declarations. I ate it up. It kept me turning the pages just looking for another scene between them, and then left at the very end yearning, wishing the next book was in my hands. And mother of all cliffhangers, really? December can't come fast enough so I know what happens, if revenge is sought, and what exactly they meant about everything changing with mystery character rescued that shall not be named. Jennifer is an amazing author, and I love this series, as well as the Covenant series, and just like I know I will probably love everything she writes.

I truly feel as if I can't say anything in my review that you haven't heard from everyone who has read Onyx. YES! Onyx is as awesome as Obsidian. YES! Daemon is infuriating, awesome, and gorgeous as ever. YES! Onyx lives up to the enormous hype. I feel as if I can't say a lot without giving precious details. If you loved Obsidian, you will be blown away by Onyx. Here's why: Daemon. But it's not what you think. Yes, Daemon is impossibly aggravating, in a ridiculously sexy way. In Onyx, though, a different side of Daemon emerges. I wouldn't say he's softer, exactly, but it is a welcome change to see him not actively trying to push Kat away. Of course, the chemistry between the two is fantastic. Daemon and Kat are continuously drawn to one another, with Kat fighting it as much as possible. But who are we kidding? We all know there isn't a snowball's chance in H-E-L-L that she can resist Daemon for long. But...there's a new guy in town, one who takes a noticeable interest in Kat. Could Daemon have serious competition? As for the plot, there's not a moment's rest in Onyx. The DOD is a continual threat, especially since Daemon and Katy's connection is stronger than ever. The Arum are circling. And it turns out that there may be more to Lux /human bond than ever imagined. Kat learns that no one can be trusted. No one. But is it already too late? Onyx deals one exciting bombshell after another. It's no secret that Armentrout is a fantastic writer. I read Obsidian last fall, but her story and the strong impression she made enabled me to slide easily back into the world. I didn't have to jog my memory for details. I didn't have to do a quick re-read, though that would be fun. There's a reason the Lux series is such a big deal. It's that good and worth every bit of the hype.

My Summary: Katy may have survived the attack from Baruck but she's not the same Katy as before. She's connected to that jerk of an alien living next door. And Daemon's trying to convince her his feeling for her aren't about them being linked. She's not buying it - not after the way he treated her for months. But some bizarre connection with Daemon isn't even the problem when the Department of Defense is lurking around watching. The risk of them finding out about Katy and Daemon's connections puts them all at risk, again. Then there are the Arum making a appearances. But a new boy shows up at school hiding his own secrets and Katy has to decide who to trust. Everything she has believed about this new life she fell into is about to change and when it does which side of the fence is she gonna be on? Where does that leave her and Daemon? My Thoughts: 5 stars - Incredible romance & intense action How does one review such an awesome book four months early without spoiling things for others? I've thought about this a lot. Here's what I decided. I'm giving you a couple quotes from the end of Obsidian that are telling for what to expect in Onyx. He placed his hand over mine and squeezed. "But it's not too bad. I mean, I'm pretty sure I morphed you into something and this whole heart thing proves we must be connected." He grinned. "Could be worse." Page 295 Obsidian He placed his hands on my hips and tugged me forward carefully. His breath stirred the hair around my temple. "If I wanted to be with...." he started, his hands tightening. "If I wanted to be with you, you'd make it hard wouldn't you?" I lifted my head. "You don't want to be with me." His lips twitched into a smile. "I'm thinking I kind of do." Page 299 Obsidian So there's your hints for what's important in Onyx. AND make sure you have read Shadows because.... well.... I loved the..... um..... just read Shadows first - trust me. Now you have an idea of what to expect in Onyx BUT then add a bunch of twists that changes everything! Jennifer is brilliant at sending the reader down a path believing one thing and then BAM something changes and everything you believed 5 minutes ago about the story just did a 180. Gonna enjoy this roller coaster ride. Of course, I LOVED the characters. Katy is like a friend. She runs a book blog and there are some fabulous lines linked to blogging that I loved. One scene that I can talk about without spoiling anything is the making of her IMM in vlog form. Daemon helped! It was so funny - him handing her books and making comments. Better yet was when she got so many comments the next day on the post mostly talking about the HAWT guy sitting next to her. I thought I'd die laughing it was soooooooo good. But more than the fun of Katy, I love that she didn't roll over and accept all the jerkiness that was Daemon in Obsidian. He can't treat her that way and then expect her to just fall into his arms. You GO Girl! And while I'm talking about Daemon, he is the most swoon worthy male character I've read in like forever. I could compare him to Will from Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare but better. What I LOVE even more in Onyx is that we get to see the sweet side of Daemon. The Daemon who wants to make up for being a douchbag before. A Daemon that shows his feelings and yet he is still that self-assured very MALE character that had me swooning in Obsidian. If you didn't read my Swoon Thursday last week, check it out here. Daemon knows how to kiss a girl that's for sure. Every book I read of Jennifer's seems to get better and better. I find myself needing to create a new level of awesominess for her books. Five stars just doesn't seem like enough to describe how absolutely fabulous Onyx is. So peeps, here's the deal on Onyx. PRE-ORDER it NOW! You will not want to wait one day longer than necessary before you get this scorching hot book in your hands.

I have to admit, I was worried when I started this book. I’ve had so many experiences where the second book of a series never lived up to the first. Well, I am pleased to say I wasn’t disappointed when I read ONYX. Jennifer delivered the same action, humor, and sexual tension as she had in OBSIDIAN. I flew through the pages, and I cannot wait for OPAL! I was really impressed with the evolution of the characters. When we left Daemon in OBSIDIAN, he was ready to commit to Katy. However, we knew Katy wasn’t convinced he was for real. Oh, it is SO fun reading as Daemon tries to prove himself. I am more in love with him than I was before (which I didn’t think was possible). Besides her issues with Daemon, Katy also has to figure out her new powers which is quite a challenge. A new character (Blake) is introduced who believes he is “like her” and offers to “help” her. And, can you guess how Daemon feels about Blake? Tehehehe…it’s so good! Another problem for Katy is the Department of Defense. Things get serious when they show up, and it’s on from there. Bottom line, if you loved OBSIDIAN, you will devour ONYX. I would recommend the LUX series to anyone who loves YA fantasy or sci-fi.

Guess which blogger loves Onyx even more than she loved Obsidian? This girl. Here in book 2, we see Katy struggling with her feelings for, and connection to, Daemon. She tries to convince both Daemon and herself that what they think they are feeling isn't real- that it's just an after-effect of what went down in book 1. As she works to remain indifferent towards Daemon, another boy starts giving her some attention: a nice, normal boy, with whom Katy can do nice, normal teenage stuff. Of course, this new development does not sit well with Daemon, and he's not shy about making his opinion known. And that's just where the action starts to pick up. This book is chock full of action; the pace is gloriously break-neck, leaving the reader turning pages as fast as possible. What keeps me coming back to read more Armentrout is her characters. They leap off the page, speaking and behaving in ways that are absolutely realistic. They are flawed: Daemon pushes people's buttons, Katy is a book nerd, Dee goes overboard with her interest in boys, and Katy's mom can't see the forest for the trees. They mess up in very realistic, very human ways. Each gets an opportunity, however, to present their good intentions. The primary character draw for this series is the hottie leading love interest. Daemon Black is some sexy bad boy, deep-fried on a stick with caramel sauce on the side for dipping. So, so bad for you- yet, so tempting to indulge. His Hotness may have an ego the size of North America, but his courage, loyalty and love for Katy are just as intense. For those of you who are already firmly Team Daemon: I will of course refrain from giving a spoiler, but I will say that you will not be disappointed. There is a scene here that is going to knock your socks off. When you can tell that you're getting to a good part, you might want to find a quiet space with a locking door, so you can read without interruptions or distractions. You won't want to miss a thing.

Katy Swartz's entire life changed the day she met Daemon Black. Going back to the life she had before she met him wasn't an option. But she wasn't sure that moving forward with him was something she wanted either. After everything they'd gone through together, she just wanted a chance at normal for awhile. A chance with someone who didn't drive her crazy. A chance with someone she wasn't connected to. A chance with someone other than Daemon. Someone human. But try as she might, she just couldn't seem to stay away from him. Even with the new boy more than willing to offer her a distraction. Even with the knowledge that being with Daemon put her and everyone she knew in danger. And even though the possibility of a happily ever after for them was more dream than reality. Maybe it was their connection. Maybe it was because she needed his protection. Maybe she really did like him. Or maybe it was just the simple fact that she was his Kitten. Whatever the reason, she'd have to make her mind up about Daemon fast, because time is running out. Someone's been telling lies. Someone has betrayed their trust. Someone's coming after them. And this time luck might not be on their side. *** Onyx is the electrifying second book in Jennifer L. Armentrout's Lux series. Tension-filled, suspenseful and exciting from start to finish, this book will keep readers on edge as each new discovery is made, each secret uncovered, each new danger unleashed and each betrayal revealed. Shocking surprises, deadly threats, heartbreaking losses and sizzling chemistry all combine to make this sequel a blazing-fast and addictive must read. With the return of the series' two favorite characters - Katy and Daemon - and the introduction of a few new ones, readers must decide what to believe, who to trust and who the real enemies are. As Katy Swartz tries to cope with the connection she has with Daemon, she'll have to find a way to determine whether his interest in her is real or a product of their bond. And she'll have to decide not only whether she can trust his feelings for her but whether she can trust her feelings for him. But with a new arrival in town, someone who seems to be able to offer Katy the normalcy she's been longing for, things with Daemon seem that much less clear. So when she gets the opportunity to learn to protect herself instead of relying on Daemon she jumps at the chance. Even if it means keeping secrets. And even if it means risking her own safety by putting her trust in a stranger. Because as dangerous as that may be, it's nothing compared to the risk she'd have to take by putting her trust and her heart in Daemon's hands. Author Jennifer L. Armentrout has delivered yet another spellbinding book in this series. Her lovable heroine Katy and the easy flow to her writing will keep readers coming back for more. Her at times antagonistic protagonist Daemon will keep readers transfixed. And her intriguing and nail-biting plot infused with humor, sarcasm, fiery personalities and smoldering chemistry will leave readers anxious for Opal, the next book in the series. Onyx is an absolute must for anyone who enjoyed Obsidian, for readers who love an easy to devour book with characters they'll want to connect to and for fans of paranormal/sci-fi books with a bit of a mystery, a whole lot of action and an electrically-charged love story.

I loved Obsidian. Devoured it. Nothing JLA ever writes could possibly be as good as Obsidian. Except for Onyx. She took Katy and Daemon to a whole other stratosphere when it comes to romantic tension. After Daemon saves Katy’s life at the end of Obsidian, he’s ready to finally be honest with her, he likes her and he thinks she likes him, too. But Katy’s convinced his feelings aren't real, that they’re based on nothing more than some sort of weird alien connection as a result of saving her life. All she wants is a normal, HUMAN boyfriend. Is that asking so much? Enter cute California surfer, Blake. As a So. Cal girl, I can attest to the cuteness of California surfer boys, so I was on board with a nice little diversion, and it was fun to watch Daemon’s jealousy rear its ugly, albeit sexy, head. But when your next door neighbors are aliens and constantly being watched by the DoD, nothing will ever be that simple. Chaos ensues. Katy uncovers a secret the DoD would rather remain covered and, as she so often does, makes all of the wrong choices. This time the consequences are far worse than even she could have dreamed. Plot: The plot was simply amazing. This action-packed sequel hit the ground running and never let up. The romantic subplot sizzles even more than in Obsidian. Anything but predictable, JLA foreshadows so expertly, you don't even realize until after the fact how beautifully she’d set you up. And it was delicious to sit back and watch Daemon working so hard to get Katy after she spent all of Obsidian trying to get him. Characters:  As fantastic as the plot is, the characters are what really make this series. The characters are well-rounded, if not essentially deep. They are fun and funky and the kind of people you'd want to invite over for Friday night zombie movie watching and popcorn. Bottom Line:  This is a fun, pulse-pounding read that is equal parts exciting, funny, and quirky, and I highly recommend it.

You can't help, but love Daemon and his attitude when it comes to Kat. She's a great heroine and knows how to carry her own weight!

This book is an awesome sequel to Obsidian. I loved it so much and couldn't set it down!!! I read it in 1 day( well like 6 hours) it is so easy to get caught up in it.

It just sort of lacks direction and depth. If someone were to ask me what the basic plotline for this, was i honestly wouldnt be able to tell them. There was just too much unrelated stuff and the book didnt really move forward. That said, it wasnt terrible, just i wont be reading this again and there are better books out there.

HOLY MOTHER OF ALL ALIEN BABIES! Onyx is everything Obsidian needed to be. Bar none, this is now neck and neck with the Covenant series and is officially in competition for my favorite Jennifer L. Armentrout series. I completely stand by my Obsidian review and if you’ve read it… I did not likes at all. Jennifer L. Armentrout completely redeemed herself in this latest installment in the Lux series. In fact, I think, (this is SO HARD for me to admit) that this is the best book she’s written thus far (I’m sorry Alex, Aiden and even Seth). UGH! This is coming from a die-hard fan of the Covenant series! I don’t give five stars often but I have to say Mrs. Armentrout has kicked it up about a thousand notches and has earned every single one of those stars. Onyx picks up right where Obsidian has left off and it didn’t miss or skip a beat. This book had it all. There was action, intrigue, great character development, great world building, angst, excitement, romance, ha ha moments and so much more. I read this in one sitting and didn’t catch any sleep until the end. I just had to know and know until I couldn’t know anything more because the next book, Opal, is not here! Now let’s talk about Katy and Daemon because these two have been THE TALK in the YA book world and honestly, I couldn’t stand either one in the last book. In Obsidian, Katy allowed to get played by Daemon and kept getting played by him. Daemon was a total douche and I couldn’t understand why in the world everyone was falling for him. He was over the top mean and demeaning. If that was the kind of guy girls fell for I was seriously questioning the kind of role models we have out there for our teens. It truly bothered me to no end. After reading Shadows, the prequel to Obsidian, I understood Daemon’s behavior more in Obsidian and went into Onyx not liking Daemon a little less. In Onyx, I truly fell for them and totally enjoyed them even when they were being a bit annoying and unreasonable. Both characters showed growth in this book. Katy acknowledged that she allowed him to get away with treating her like crap and that she couldn’t continue to let that happen and kept rejecting Daemon for almost the entire book. Daemon on the other hand did a total 180°. 180° because he still loves to give Katy a hard time but it was more playful and not at all mean. However, put 100% effort into apologizing and trying to prove his worth to Katy. Both characters opened up to one another allowing space for understanding. In the end you had two very likable characters, that I could respect, who were trying to survive the madness and who I felt compelled to root for and even protect. Lastly, the most impressive part of this book was its flow. I didn’t find myself struggling to believe that this could or could not happen or that the timing was off or that things were pieced awkwardly together. It all made sense and became totally believable. It was smooth and everything came together seamlessly and effortlessly. Everything that happened had to happen, every action and every word was meant to be. In the end I was left in awe, feeling fulfilled having just read a very unique and complete story. Once again I find myself giving Jennifer L. Armentrout props for being a great story teller. **Recommended for mature readers ***Recommendation: Read Shadows if you haven't already and if you have, read it again. It'll help. I have to re-read mine now.

If all aliens were easy on the eyes, and strangely both arrogant and caring, then I really don't think that I would object to an invasion. In other words if there is a group of aliens that are exactly like Daemon, then I would say come on in! In Obsidian, Daemon was mostly the jerk that we all loved, and we rarely (just like Katy) got to see the more caring/sweeter side of him. But now, Daemon and Katy have some alien connection that Katy thinks could explain certain feelings. Daemon does like a challenge though, and will just have to prove Katy wrong! Then a new guy with surfer good looks comes to town, and Katy thinks he may just have the normalcy that she craves, much to the dismay of our favorite jerk alien. But, normal may be just what Katy needs, because the big bad DOD has come to town, and their black Expeditions are everywhere. There is no way you can go wrong with such a great plot, and Armentrout certainly does not. She instead goes one step further and completely knocks it out of the park! In addition to the great book that is Onyx, I was surprisingly blessed with a bonus scene! It's not really an extra scene, but at the end of the book, one of my favorite parts was retold...in Daemon's view! That right there only made me love this book that much more!

I fell in love with deamon and katy in obsidion and was beyond excited to read onyx. I was a litttle worried because sequals are never as good as the first books, but i had nothing to worry about. This book had just as much action, if not more. There were many times throughout the book where i would laugh so hard my sides would hurt. This book draws you in to the point that you feel like the lux world is real and you personaly know the characters. Throught the book Katy and Deamon have hystarical word battles and arguements. This book even made me cry at one point. I have read this series 5 times and it never gets old. This book is truely written beautifuly and deserves 5 stars.
