Good Book.

The Opera Ghost Lives by Ann Kraft is intended to be a sequel to Phantom of the Opera. It tells what happened to Erik after he lost his dear Christine to another man. While the Phantom of the Opera seemed to me a mix of Goth and Comedy with a bit of romance, The Opera Ghost seems more a Christian romance. Unfortunately this will affect my review as I am not a fan of romance. The themes of “God's grace can redeem anyone, no matter how bad they think they are”; and “what you look like on the outside doesn't matter it's what's inside that counts” are obvious. In my opinion the most exciting part and a bit of a twist comes at the end. This book wasn't what I expected it to be, but it has some good themes.

Is it possible that the Opera Ghost didn't die? He planned for everything, right? Couldn't he have escaped? Of course he escaped! He did have help, though. An angle came and saved him... Even knowing him, and the things that he has done, she still came to his rescue. She couldn't refuse. His angel made a promise to a friend of The Opera Ghost that she couldn't ignore. No matter how she wants to refuse him, a promise is a promise. But to follow through on all of the promise may prove to be more than even an angel can endure.

The Opera Ghost Lives weaves a story of suspense and intrigue. The characters in the story learn to love and trust others after tragedies and hardships in their lives. Mrs. Kraft has done a fabulous job of captivating her readers with drama and a touch of romance. As the story unfolded giving glimpses of the Opera Ghost's past, I found it impossible to put the book down. It truly does remind us to "live, love and trust what our heart tells us". The Opera Ghost was a pleasure to read. I would highly recommend it to everyone as a "must read" book. I am anxiously awaiting the release of her next book!

This book takes a different approach at examining the life of Erik, the famed Phantom of the Opera as his life seems to have come to a crossroad in which he has to decide whether he will return to the life he knows or try to become someone that an old friend always beleived him to be despite all of his flaws. Although this author is new to writing, I thought her storytelling was very good and her descriptions, which were not overdone, made me feel like I was there with each character. This book seemed sappy at times with some of the romance but that was okay because I like sappy. Anyway, the story has more plot twists than a roller croaster and it kept me so involved that I couldn't put the book down. It's truly a journey that I was glad I took with Erik and in doing so I found out a little bit more about who I am and what decisions I might make in my life if faced with similar challenges. This book is great and I'm reading it again. If you haven't read the original book you may be a little confused in the beginning but she does a fairly good job of explaining all of the past references to the original story.
