No one expects to find love in the middle of a snowstorm.
Hollie Douglas has always dreamed of a white Christmas: carolers, pudding, chestnuts roasting on an open fire. But in her dreams, she shared that fire's hearth with a husband, and two months before her big day, her fiancé broke her heart and left.
Now, determined to go ahead with her honeymoon anyway, Hollie's plans are going awry. It's the day before Christmas Eve and she is stuck in the middle of a snowstorm in rural Canada. Thankfully, luck is on her side.
When Jim Bell braved a snowstorm to search for one of his orphaned animals, he didn't expect he'd be rescuing a stranded Australian tourist too. A widower, Jim has been dreading another Christmas without his wife, and he wonders if offering the stranded Hollie shelter is something he can bear.
Jim quickly realizes Hollie is carrying as much emotional baggage as him. But as he helps Hollie fulfil her dream of a white Christmas, the winter wonderland and spirit of Christmas may yet work their healing magic on both of them.
A sweet Christmas romance in the tradition of Melissa McClone and Alissa Callen.
About the Author
Nicki Edwards is a city girl with a country heart. Growing up on a small family acreage, she spent her formative years riding horses and pretending the neighbour's farm was her own. After spending three years in a regional city in New South Wales, her love of small country towns was further developed. One day she plans to escape to the country with her husband Tim and live on land surrounded by horses, dogs, cows and sheep. Until then she lives vicariously through the lives of the characters in the rural romance novels she loves to read.
In 2006, when Nicki's youngest child started school, she returned to university, juggling full time study, part time work and raising four small children, to achieve her dream of becoming a nurse. Always a voracious reader, Nicki's other dream was to be an author.
Nicki writes medical rural romance for Momentum and when she isn't reading, writing or dreaming about rural life and medical emergencies, she can be found working as a Critical Care Nurse in a busy Intensive Care Unit, where many of her stories and characters are imagined.
Nicki and Tim reside in Geelong, Victoria with their four teenage/young adult children. Life is busy, fun and at times exhausting, but Nicki wouldn't change it for anything. Visit her at nickiedwards.com.au.

ARC kindly provided by Momentum Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Review ‘Operation White Christmas’ is a second-chance romance story and a sweet Christmas novella: perfect for reading in front of the fire. It was full of raw emotion and I liked the characters a LOT. Both seemed to be internally vulnerable (aka full of emotional baggage per blurb) but full of spunk and resilience that I greatly admired. There were many times that I laughed out loud or grinned along with the characters! The writing flows well right from the beginning. Only a few pages in and I had already started to connect with the female lead, Hollie. I loved the author's writing style! She seemed to be able to capture all the important bits in the story and carry of the essence of the plot straight into the reader's hands and mind. I got really attached to our two main characters: Hollie and Jim. The setting was absolutely beautiful! I fell in love with the snowy outback farm of Canada and greatly enjoyed how the author used the place to create a sense of tranquillity and isolation: great for the start of a budding romance and for getting those sparks started. It was funny how the author portrayed Aussies and Canadians since I'm an Australian, too! She would exaggerate some accents gently and point out the way we Aussie tend to make the 'r' silent whilst Americans exaggerate it. It was great for a laugh! Not once did I see a spelling mistake or typing error. The grammar was excellent and there was not one bit that I could criticise. I greatly admired the prose and how well the author seemed to be convey everything. Surprisingly, this was a clean romance story. However, it did not take away from the absolutely gorgeous love story that captured my heart. Even though it was a typical and cliche stuck-in-a-winter storm I really loved the novella. I might just have to go out and read the other novels in the 'Escape to the Country' series. Congratulations to Nicki Edwards on publishing such a lovely Christmas novella! Rating Plan 1 star : Strongly did not like the book, writing and plot was bad. Idea of the book was against my liking. 2 star : Didn't like it, didn't find it interesting or gripping. Seemed to drag on to me. 3 star : An average book. Wasn't bad or good. Everything else was well done. Original idea. 4 star : Like a 3 star but has potential to it as a series or the book grew on me as it progressed and certain scenes captured me. I Enjoyed it and read it in one sitting. 5 star : I LOVED IT! I stayed up late until 3 am. Author is a genius, characters, plot, idea, development, EVERYTHING was EXCELLENT. Nothing else can possibly be said except that its 5 STAR!
A cute Christmas romance. Hollie Douglas, an Australian, is dumped by her fiancee 2 months before the wedding and Christmas. Her best friend convinces her to go on her planned honeymoon trip because she can not get her money back. They make a list of all the things she wants to do in Canada during her "White Christmas." She heads off on the trip and has a series of mishaps. Arriving in Niagara Falls, she finds out her ex-fiancee has cancelled the hotel room and there is nothing else available. Finding a room in Niagara-On-The-Lake in a bed and breakfast, she heads out in a snowstorm. She ends up in a ditch while avoiding hitting an animal. She is rescued by Jim Bell, a handsome widowed farmer, and ends up staying at his farm overnight. They have an immediate attraction to one another and one night turns into 2 weeks. She gets to participate in all kinds of things on her Operation White Christmas list and the attraction continues to grow. This is a novella that is short, sweet and romantic. A wonderfully entertaining Christmas romance set in a beautiful winter wonderland. It had been a long time since he'd had a woman wrap her arms around his waist and hang on like her life depended on it. It felt nice. Very nice. After two months on her own, the touch of a man felt nice. Very nice. OPERATION WHITE CHRISTMAS was a lovely, sweet contemporary Christmas romance. It was a quick read - one you won't want to put down once you've started. The cover initially drew me to the book; Just looking at it, makes me smile remembering the fun tale within. This was the first time I've ever read anything by Nicki Edwards and I don't plan on it being the last. I want to check out her other books soon. This was the story of Canadian rancher Jim Bell and Australian nurse Hollie Douglas. The snowy setting was a perfect backdrop to the tale. As the story opened, Hollie had been set to have the white Christmas honeymoon she'd always dreamed about when her fiancé bailed before their wedding. Her best friend encouraged her to take the trip anyhow because it was all paid for and it would sure beat moping about. Her friend jokingly nicknamed the new trip: Operation Nuptial Nullification. After renaming the trip OPERATION WHITE CHRISTMAS, Hollie began to plan. The flight from Australia to Canada went well. But from there, things went rapidly downhill. She landed to find that Canada was in the midst of a major winter storm. Hollie wasn't prepared for the cold, her luggage was misplaced, her room had been cancelled by her loser ex-fiancé, and, to top it off, she had an accident and found herself stuck in the middle of nowhere or as she called it the 'woop woop.' To say that OPERATION WHITE CHRISTMAS wasn't going as planned would be putting it mildly. Then... a man on a snowmobile came to her rescue. Or... did she come to his? You need to read this delightful story to find out! The hero and heroine were both genuine and likeable. Even though I don't care for cold weather, I do enjoy reading about it. It was a pleasure visiting Canada in the wintertime with Hollie and Jim. Jim was an awesome tour guide and totally swoon worthy. The couple's camaraderie exuded sweet and I laughed over and over at their humorous banter and antics. I would be remiss if I neglected to mention the wonderful supporting characters, including the animals. They all added another level of enjoyment to the tale. As I read, I learned some Aussie terminology; For instance, did you know that Christmas is referred to as Chrissy in Australia? I highly recommend OPERATION WHITE CHRISTMAS to anyone who enjoys remarkably entertaining Chrissy romances set in a beautiful winter wonderland.
