During the late 19th century, Henry M. Stanley spent 17 years living in Africa where he had the opportunity to hear the oral history of ancient African tribes. He was amazed by the similarity of some of the stories to other tales such as those written in the Bible. But to his great delight, Stanley found many of the account passed orally from generation were both unique, timeless and a great treasure for all of civilization.
