I loved Griffin's first book, Ten Mile River, so I grabbed this one as soon as I could, and he did it again. This one is so suspenseful, you know the ending on the first page, but you don't know the victim! It took all my self control not to turn to the last page, but I knew I would miss the excitement if I did. Great characters, great subject matter -- returning veterans, illegal immigration, bullying...all tied together in an intense story. Definitely a must read for my book club - can't wait to have someone to talk to about this!

Paul Griffin's second book takes a different turn from Ten Mile River yet captures the same intimacy with his characters. A quick summer read that will have you hooked from page 1. This books is not only for youth but for people of all ages. It touches on so many themes that are relevant in today's society...as felt and seen from the inside and out. Schools should have The Orange Houses as required reading.

This book was a particularly intresting book to read but i felt the author could have expanded the story a little bit because the ending is just a little off and your feeling like "what the heck? thats the end? that dosent make sence." but i do sugest that you read this book, other than the ending it is a really touching story.
