Children's Literature - Children's Literature
The "What's for Lunch?" series features twelve different foods. including fruits, vegetables, eggs and bread. In this title, children learn where and how oranges are grown. The reader follows how oranges are shipped to grocery markets as well as how orange juice is made into a concentrate. The reinforced binding, color photographs and oversized text work together to make this a good purchase for an elementary school media center, especially if the food pyramid is part of the curriculum. The simple index and glossary could be used for teaching these library skills in the media center. 1999, Franklin Watts, Ages 3 to 8, $20.50. Reviewer: Wendy Pollock-Gilson
