Organic Lasers and Organic Photonics

Organic Lasers and Organic Photonics is the first book since the early 1990s to address the physics and technology of organic dye lasers and it offers insight into the vast fields of organic lasers and their applications. A fresh perspective on the world of organic dye molecules is provided, with chapters that explore optogenetics, organic laser medicine and quantum communications. Aimed at researchers and practitioners in optics, medical research and photochemical industries, that utilize optically driven chemical or biological applications, this work illuminates organic dyes and aims to incorporate the laser-related applications of organic dyes in leading areas of photonics and biophotonics. Organic sources of coherent radiation with miniaturized organic lasers and coherent semiconductor sources are also discussed.

About the Author

F J Duarte is an award-winning laser physicist who is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Physics, and the Optical Society. As an expert in the field of tuneable organic lasers and their applications, Duarte also has a vast knowledge and research experience in coherent imaging, high-power tuneable lasers, interferometric microscopy, laser metrology, narrow-linewidth laser oscillators and numerous other related fields. He is currently exploring the physics of organic semiconductor coherent sources and quantum space-to-space communications, which are rapidly developing fields with exciting horizons. Other contributors to this book include Peter Hegemann, Suneel Kateriya, Alfons Penzkofer, Sergei Popov, Kathleen M Vaeth and Elena Vasileva, all of whom are experts in their research areas and provide distinct perspectives to the rapidly-expanding fields of organic lasers and organic photonics.
