    From the Publisher
"This magnificent work shows that origami is more than the sum of its folds. By weaving together art, history, music, Zen, his own life's journey and a collection of elegant, distinctive origami works, Engel reveals the spirit within this magical art. Origami Odyssey is a spectacular accomplishment, a work of art in itself, and a worthy successor to Engel's iconic Folding the Universe." —Robert J. Lang, author of Origami Design Secrets

"Peter Engel has done it again! Engel's streamlined aesthetic resonates with the simplicity of Japanese ink painting, garden design, and haiku. In Origami Odyssey he expands the frontiers of origami design still further and shares his secrets through easy-to-follow explanations and diagrams. My family has delighted in making these magical representations of the cosmos and the natural world." —Melissa Rinne, Associate Curator of Japanese Art, Asian Art Museum

"Peter Engel's origami designs sing for themselves: creations of elegance, whimsy, and surprise. Origami Odyssey is an extraordinary celebration of the shared territory where art, nature, geometry, and imagination come together and play." —Tom Rockwell, Director of Exhibits, The Exploratorium, San Francisco

"This is an important, long-awaited book from one of the intellectual leaders in the field of origami art and science. Origami Odyssey is creative, has great models, and is food for the mind as well as the fingers. For an inspirational and thought-provoking journey into the essence of origami, look no further." —Tom Hull, Associate Professor of Mathematics, Western New England University, author of Project Origami

"Life and nature are the inspiration; origami is the passion. Peter Engel's book invites you to explore how a single sheet of paper can evoke wonder in your heart." —Kimber Simpkins, author, Certified Anusara Yoga Instructor

"I love the different folds I can create in this book and the fun projects as well!" —TestTryResults blog

The Origami Odyssey by Peter Engel is not a beginners guide, but if you are starting out it can take some time to understand how to create each folded object/item inside. I do enjoy that it comes with a DVD, which comes in handy when trying to create the different odyssey origami items. The kit comes with everything to help you create each item, with the book, and instructional DVD. However, you will need to supply your own paper. The book is a nice hardcover, but of course, it comes in digital form too. However, I love the real book, it's so much easier to read and able to view each photo of the project I want to do inside. The one I really enjoy and want to try to make is the Origami Sun. Under the Solar System section is the sun that looks out of this world awesome! My mom loves all types of suns and this would be fun to create for her and possibly attach it to a gift on her birthday. However, this is such a creative origami fold, which now I know how to make since I have the directions and a visual instructor with the DVD.
