This book had some promise initially, and then, sadly it faltered badly. Ugh! I do not recommend.

I think I got this thinking it was more of a romance but turned out to be more of a mystery. While most of the plot was predictable, there were a few twists that I didn't guess. It was an easy read and I actually hated to put it down! Having some musical background, I appreciated how she used music to set the mood! While there was a love interest, it wasn't descriptive, so it's very well suited for some one who wants to read about a romance with out all the raunchy sex scenes.

At first i did not know what to expect from this book. I admit it was a little slow in the beginning. and honestly i was scared it was going to be like "the reliable wife." Fortunately it was not!! the book was definitely dark and melancholy, and at times eerie. There were so many suspenseful parts, that i honestly i feel as if the book were a thriller! the plot! oh the plot! there were so many twists and turns! i figured out one part, but definitely did not see the other part coming, and i am pretty good at figuring plots out! honestly it was an amazing book! it just never answered one question, and pls if anyone reads this pls answer me: who is that eleanor "sees" in the tower room when she explores the house on the hill? but yes, i read this book late into the night, and the woke up early and read it until it was done!! it was haunting in way, quite fitting for contents of the book.

Bryant's book captured me from the first page. The characters, the story and the authentic musical references created beautiful images. This is a masterful first book. I can't wait to see future works. This would make a wonderful movie!
