The Other Girl by Sarah Miller

Molly McGarry is about to learn that the only thing more traumatizing than spending six months trapped in your boyfriend's head is being stuck inside your ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend's head. After Molly dumps Gideon because she thinks he's lusting after some one else, a game of spin the bottle leads to a kiss between Gideon and the beautiful, sexy Pilar Benitez-Jones. Somehow, the kiss knocks Molly out of Gideon's head—and right into Pilar's. Now she's desperate to get Gid back. She uses all her "superpower" to try to come between Pilar and Gid, but instead of breaking them up, she seems to be bringing them closer together. Can she stand to be at school with Gid and at the same time be inside the mind of the girl he moved on with? How does Molly win back Gid without letting him know what's going on? And how on earth is she ever going to get out of Pilar's head...?

I first saw this book by randoming looking through the featured books at my library. I wasn't too interested first off, and even afer I read the preview of the book I still remained hesitant to read it, but I thought that I'd give it a shot and try it out. GREAT DECISION. This book was fantastic! As soon as I turned to the first page, I couldn't put the book down! My eyes were glued to the pages for I desperately wanted to find out what happened next. The way the author writes is intriguing; it really helped me relate to the girl she was writing about. The characters are absolutely hilarious and the ending was perfect. It's a shame that this has such few reviews because it truly is a great piece of literature.

I absolutely LOVE this book! At first, I was a bit skeptical that this was a good book, but as soon as I turned to page 1, I didn't put it down. The way the author writes- simply fantastic! I was pulled into the words and thought, "Hey! This is exactly how I talk!" I love the characters, and it's awesome how they face through everyday life just like real teens! It's fun to watch them over-come their problems, find new solutions, and just laugh as the characters make fools of themselves!

I haven't read this book but had to comment since both my 16 & 18 year read it and i've heard them discussing the book a lot. They both said they really enjoyed it and have friends who are waiting to borrow it for a good read!

"The Other Girl" is a very different and a truly original read. It is such a different experience when comparing to my other favorite reads. It seemed so real, though creepy in the way that the main character, Molly, knows everything going through the mind of whoever's head she's in. The writing was not particularly strong or drawing, and seemed to go off track during some areas, but it kept me hooked all the way through. I was facsinated with the fact that the author explores real thoughts that girls and boys have during relationships. Such as when Molly watches her boyfriend, Gideon, think of the most beautiful girl in the world, 'The Other Girl' Pilar, while they are having sex. *Heartbreaking, because it is something that will go through every girls mind while in a relationship...That 'does he think of other girls when he's with me?' thought.* And when she actually witnesses it, she ends their relationship, right as she watches the thought grow. Of course, he doesn't understand why...Because he doesn't know she's inside his head... Molly pushes Gid away and he falls into the arms of Pilar, all while Molly is watching, stuck inside his head. Molly knows that she still wants Gid...Needs Gid...But how can she be with Gid when she's inside his head? So she's on a mission to get out of his head, only to find that she bounces into Pilar's. And starts bouncing back and forth between them as the new couple gets closer...How can she get out of their minds, and break them apart at the same time?... "The Other Girl" was such a twisted story all the way through, and it was a great way to spend my time, I read the whole book in less than a day, not wanting to miss a beat...'The Other Girl' is a spectacular read!

At Midvale Prep, students Molly McGarry and Gideon Rayburn are an entry. She is his perfect girlfriend as she knows his desires as if she is reading what is inside his head; which is what she is actually doing as she is INSIDE THE MIND OF GIDEON RAYBURN. However, during an intimate interlude, Molly is stunned when she reads her beloved's thoughts as Gideon's mind wanders over to beautiful Pilar Benitez-Jones. Upset, but needing to conceal what she knows about his mental misdemeanor in order to hide her telepathy ability, Molly struggles with what to do next. However, she loses control of what next when somehow she mislays her brainwave connection to Gideon as her skill abruptly for no known reason that she can comprehend switches to reading Pilar. At the same Gideon starts a campaign to seduce Pilar. Although some of the support students are stereotypes of the affluent snob, Molly makes the tale with her rapid take no prisoners narration of others especially the rival. Older teen fans will enjoy her antics as she surfs heads not liking what she hears especially Gid and Pilar as a sexual entity. Sarah Miller provides a wonderful sequel as Molly is inside the mind of THE OTHER GIRL. Harriet Klausner
