SPOILER ALERT!!!!! This book was amazing!! It's about a young LDS missionary named Elder Groberg who gets called to a mission in Tonga for 2 years. He has the most amazing spiritual experiences of his life. He learned so much when he was out on the mission field. It was very inspirational, I thought. I loved the story about when the little tongan boy fell out of the mango tree and Elder Groberg thought he was for sure dead but all the tongans had so much faith and believed if Elder Groberg gave him a blessing he would live. Because of their faith and Elder Grobergs faith the boy did live. All of Elder Groberg's stories and experiences he had in this book are so uplifting and motivating to really be a better person and have more faith like the tongans. I also loved the part about when the hurricane hit Niuatoputapu and they all were practically starving to death and just when they thought they would all die a boat came with food and saved them from death. I think everyone should read this book. It has a great message to have more faith and trust in the Lord with all your heart like the Tongans in this story. It really is a motivating and intriguing story. I didn't want it to end!

This story is about a missionary who left his girlfriend in the united states to serve a two and a half year mission in tonga. This story changed my perspective in many ways. My point is......(drumroll)...........alwayse think the best in people......in other words, think of the best story of every crisis and event. That is what this taught me. I hope this is helpful. -a mormon

The Other Side of Heaven, by John Groberg, is an epic journey of a young mormon man who relates the adventure, and personal fulfillment he recieved from his mission call to the island of Tonga. He shares the experiences of having the soles of his feet eaten of by rats in his sleep, and almost being killed by going overboard in furious storms. Furthermore, he cannot wait to return to his true love that he left in the states, in order to fulfil his mission call. This auto biography is packed with so many stories, that it stays interesting through almost the entire book. The Only thing that may, or may not be liked about the book, is that it has many references to church, and other religious matters, so it depends on the type of books one enjoys reading. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read about a man who truely led a full life, and did exactly what he dreamed he would do. Also this book is for someone who likes to be absorbed into a book, and become so intuned with the person they are reading about, that they know the character inside and out. In conclusion, if you want to read some great stories that are fun to read about, and share with others, this is the book that puts all the other auto biographys to rest.

I read this book after watching the movie and loved it! Even though the reading is a little juvinile, I loved the story line and the incredible experiences John H. Groberg has. I highly recommend it for those who want to read a good, inspiring biography.
