Our Family Has Cancer Too based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
I was searching for a more positive way to discuss this with my two sons (ages 7 & 9) after their dad's lung cancer diagnosis. It seems there are plenty of resources that help deal with grief, but few that focus on the hopeful. This little book does that without making false rosy promises. Told from the child's viewpoint really helps open discussion and cover lots of difficult subjects. The illustrations and humor keep things from becoming somber. I also liked the author's ending with the statements about sharing and becoming closer as a family and remembering the importance of love. This is something that often gets lost in the day-to-day dealing with illness. Our family is keeping a journal inspired by this book, with each member having a chance to add to it.
