This book is very well written and hard to put down. The pages seem to turn themselves. The subject matter is difficult to handle, but a story that needs to be told.

From the first to the last page you will be captivated by the strength of young Geoffrey as he takes us in a journey not endured by many but nonetheles inspiring. This journey, at times quite painful, proofs to us that 'we are all much stronger then what we think we are'. Young Geoffrey shows us that we're all capable of reaching our goals no matter how harsh the path to get there may be. The author's ability to draw out this story in such a simple yet picturesque way, takes us to not only the mind, but the very soul of this young boy in his process of discovering not only his sexuality, but moreso, his true self.

I found this book hard to put down. It was a tough read because of the subject matter but I was mesmerized and drawn into the tale. Like a great work of Art, the beholder is thrust into it. The book is written in a clear, descriptive manner. This is a book that disturbs; yet one is compelled to finish it; putting it down to catch one's breath & breathe fresh air every now & then.

I loved reading this book. I couldn't put it down. It was a great read and is now one of my personal favorites. The book was sad, dramatic, suspenseful and even funny at times. Wow, what a journey. I'm glad it had a happy ending, but I'm interested to see what else Geoffrey Brooks' life has in store for him. This is a 'must read'. Don't miss out on this.

Some secrets must not be kept. Our Little Secret exposes some very serious crimes against innocent children. The title does not prepare you for the graphic nature of the torture two young boys suffered at the hands of a strong powerful respected man in the community. His absolutely evil control over the children intimidated them enough to keep the horrible secret far longer than they should have. The characters are wonderful; you really like the protagonist and everyone will wish they had a 'Grandpop' in their lives. The title seems so benign since the secret was so sordid. This book is not for the faint of heart or stomach but I think parents, teachers and other adults should read it as it might help them protect other children from actual sexual predators who can maim a child forever. I am looking forward to Mr. Carey's next work.
