Editorial Reviews

CM Magazine
"ideal for young readers venturing into chapter reading...The language is easily accessible...the penciled illustrations are detailed and wonderfully drawn. Highly recommended."
Canadian Book Review Annual
"A fine choice for readers who have just graduated to chapter books. Recommended."
Children's Literature - Rihoko Ueno
Burt, Keely, Reg, and Shawna are the Big Tree Gang, and this book contains five stories about their adventures together. Keely and Reg are sibling skunks, Shawna is a rabbit, and Burt is a possum, but these animals all get along and help each other out, whether it is saving a compass that has fallen out of reach or saving a friend from embarrassment on stage. The sweet and playful illustrations compliment the stories. Children will enjoy reading about the Big Tree Gang as they engage in various activities, such as sleighing and hunting for treasure, or simply enjoying each other's company. The stories and characters are cute, and Keely and Reg are good, competitive, and affectionate, a mix that most brothers and sisters will relate to. This is a nice book about a group of young critters who just have fun being kids. This is a logical choice for parents looking for pleasant stories for young readers.

"What should we do for fun?" asked Reg.

"I know!" said Burt. "We can go for a bug hunt! You love those, Keely."

"No, Burt," said Keely. "The bugs are getting ready for winter. We can't bother them. See, autumn ruins everything!"

"If we can't go on a bug hunt, maybe we can go on a treasure hunt!" said Shawna.

"That does sound exciting," agreed Keely. "But we don't have a treasure map."
