Out of Darkness by Darrell Case is a compelling story that kept me on the edge of my seat from the first page to the last. David Padgett is the pastor of one of the largest churches in the world, an author with numerous best sellers, and a motivational speaker who receives forty thousand dollars for each appearance. In addition to this, his ministry on TV and radio reaches millions each day and his internet site receives thousands of hits each day. David’s wife, Anne, is also a motivational speaker and their son, Robert, is being groomed to take over when David retires. Everyone thinks that David has reached the top of the success ladder but the police have a very different opinion, they think he is a serial killer. Twenty-five years ago David was suspected of the murder of a college classmate but the murder was never solved. One of the production assistants at the church commits suicide and a very wealthy member of the congregation is murdered and all the clues point directly to David. He is arrested and charged with all three murders for the police think that the suicide was actually murder. David feels that everyone including God has forsaken him and he falls into the deep pit of despair that has plagued him for two decades. As David sits in jail he thinks back to how happy he and Anne were when they were just starting out in a very small church and had very little money. Darrell Case has a talent for writing a suspense novel that gets me hooked on page one and does not let go until I have finished and then I sit there thinking about all that happened in the book. The plot line has many twists and turns but was so well developed that the plot was easy to follow. All the characters in the book were portrayed very realistically and all came to life on the pages of the book. Some of them I loved but several characters were quite unlovable. I became so engrossed in the lives of the characters that I was crying with some and laughing with others. The author did an excellent job in the description of the action and I felt as if I were right there in the middle of whatever was taking place at the moment. The church and grounds were so well described that I could picture it all in my mind. I was very happy with the ending of the book but it could have ended differently. I really like the way that Darrell had the forgiveness of God as a dominant theme in the book. I highly recommend this book to everyone who likes a great story with suspense that keeps you guessing almost to the last page and who also likes for the love and forgiveness of God to be throughout the entire book. Thanks to the author, Darrell Case, for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Out of Darkness by Darrell Case Another super book by Darrell Case. Got sucked in from the beginning, this book is action packed and will keep you guessing who did it until the very end. Pastor David Padgett, his wife Anne and son Robert have it all. He is pastor of a mega church, a bestselling author, a motivational speaker and now the suspect of murder. Is he a serial killer? One by one their lives fall apart. Are they so caught up in fame and fortune that they forget what God called them to do? The author does a superb job of showing how as Christians we can loss sight of God. But it never to late to renew our relationship with Christ and come out of darkness. This book is very well written and shows Darrell Case’s heart as a jail missionary, associate pastor and a man truly devoted to our lord and Savior.

Out of Darkness by Darrell Case held me captivated as the conspiracy and intrigue of his characters came to life, from one plot to another.    David Padgett, married to Anne, is a young Pastor with a vision.  He loves the Lord and hungers to preach Jesus Christ to the world.   He lands in Grafton, Illinois. A wealthy city that is well groomed, lined with Oak streets and clean parks to enjoy.  Citizens are friendly and proud of their community.  They cherish their families and the family owned businesses lining the streets in the downtown area.   Every day David would wake and spend hours visiting every home and business inviting them to worship once the completion of the Church he was laboring on was complete.  Then, in the afternoon he would go to his part-time job at the local grocery store and end his days exhausted. With the Church finally erect, he proudly calls it Grace Tabernacle.  But this wasn’t enough for David!  He longed for a broader audience.   The moment David walked through billionaire Tibb Russell’s office door, David’s yearning was so evident it wasn’t hard for Tibb to set in motion a devious plan.  Still young in the Lord, David didn’t understand that accepting Mr. Russell’s council, and acting on it, literally meant he was submitting to a deal with the devil! In the years to follow, David reaches astounding success. Grace Tabernacle had been rebuilt, David and Anne’s son, Robert, has been groomed to assume the position of lead Pastor, once his father retires.  But their success will soon fade. Three murders have taken place and the Padgett’s idyllic life quickly goes from bad to catastrophic. A MUST READ if you love suspense and witnessing the resplendent work of our Lord Jesus Christ! Thank you Darrell for sending me your wonderfully written, intriguing book, so I could review it!  I hope that my review will help others discover you. If they are not already aware of your writings, I pray they find you and become a fan.  I CERTAINLY AM!!! Rev. Lorrie J. Sims Duluth, MN.

Review for: “Out of Darkness” by Darrell Case By: Dr Wesley Rose As a rule I rarely read fiction, however after reading this book I am beginning to think I may be missing an entire dimension of Christian thought. I’m a fan of Vampire movies; something about them really get my heart going and my thoughts begin to flow like a flooded river. I can see the fight between good and evil and hear the echo of scripture reaffirming my thoughts and imaginings. I never would have thought reading a book of fiction could elicit the same heart pounding response. But it did! Darrell Case masterfully engulfed me in a scenario that reminded me of one of my worst nightmares – of being in the wrong place at the wrong time and being mistaken for some wanted criminal. “Out of Darkness” is so well written, the characters so well portrayed, that as the plot unfolds one easily becomes part of the drama. I learned from this work that fiction can be a good a teacher of moral principles as anything. It reminded me of the fables I read as a child and the many stories offered to children to help reinforce a moral principle. In this world created by Case the story, although familiar to anyone reading the news today, is more than just a story of ministry off track or the errors made by one of God’s fishers of men. It is a compelling and vivid telling of crisis, faith, friends, and how the dark things of this world can begin to surround us and even break us down. It is about the trials of faith and so much more. The ring of truth and familiarity of the heart this book exhibits is so compelling that one cannot help but read the entire book without stopping. Indeed it was impossible for me to even put it aside for more than just a few moments. I would prescribe this for those who enjoy reading in general and especially for those who reap maximum benefit from strong moral tales based on Biblical principles and spiritual longings. It will indubitably touch your heart!

In the beginning,I had a little trouble trying to figure out where this story was going. However, as I read on, it became apparent how far into darkness one can fall while doing all the "right" things! David knew and preached all the right words, but allowed the devil to lead him into places that took much to return from. Well written, perhaps a little long at times, but the author resolves all the subplots in a most satisfying way.

The topic of this book is very relevant in the world we live in today, where we have seen multimillionaire TV Evangelists rise high in the limelight and fall down into the depths. We wonder how this can happen. Well, here is a story that tells the tale. Young David Padgett begins his ministry as a youth who wants nothing more than to dedicate his life to following Christ and to helping his fellow man. Early on, instead of trusting the Lord to bring this about, he feels the need to depend on other sources, and therein lies the story. David thinks the Lord is leading him as he and his church expand and grow rich, but he is following Satan's plan instead. The plot shows how the Lord works and pulls David out of the morass he fell into and brought him back into the will of God, and makes his ministry into a thing of beauty. Out of Darkness was spell-binding to me. I could hardly leave it alone until I finished it. I am looking forward to his next novel.

This story starts in a small town called Grafton. Pastor David Padgett and his wife with their only son, Robert want to bring the word of God to as many people as he could. He gets caught up in all the money and lies and looses his focus on his real mission. He is framed by two cops and a man called Tibb Russell, whom is after David's congregation for the money they bring in. David is arrested for the murder of three and called a serial killer. With some help from his friends he is free because they caught the real murders. Thru out the story you find that not only David but his wive,Anne and aslo Robert are born again to serve the Lord. They change their lives into serving the Lord in a different light. This was a very interesting book which kept my full attention thru. I had to just keep reading to find out who the real killers where and what was going to happen to David and Robert. God isn't through with David. The Lord is about to bring His servant out of darkness and into His marvelous light. Please, read this book and you will enjoy every page you read. I can't wait for Darrell Case to write his next book.

This is the most poorly written book I have ever read. There are grammar and spelling errors throughout the book; I'm estimating over 50 errors. The storyline was interesting in the beginning of the book, however, by the time you get to the 4th murder that appears to occur within a small timeframe, the book becomes boring.
