Out of Position by Kyell Gold

Dev is a football player at Forester University, a small liberal arts college where he and his teammates get to strut around and have their pick of the girls on Friday nights. That's as good as it gets--until he meets Lee, a fox with a quick wit and an attractive body.

Problem is, Lee's not a girl. He's a gay fox, an activist who never dreamed he'd fall for a football player. As their attraction deepens into romance, it's hard enough for them to handle each other, let alone their inquisitive friends, family, and co-workers. And if school is bad, the hyper- masculine world of professional sports that awaits Dev after graduation will be a hundred times worse.

Going it alone would make everything easier. If only they could stop fighting long enough to break up.

About the Author

Kyell Gold began writing furry fiction a long, long time ago. In the early days of the 21st century, he got up the courage to write some gay furry romance, first publishing his story "The Prisoner's Release" in Sofawolf Press's adult magazine Heat. That led to a novel, Volle, and a sequel, Pendant of Fortune, both of which won the Ursa Major Award for Best Anthropomorphic Novel (2005 and 2006). His novels Waterways and Out of Position also won that award in 2008 and 2009, and he has won the Ursa Major Award for Best Anthropomorphic Short Story four times (2006-2009). Other strange things he likes to write about include mystical decks of cards, superheroes, and sports; his novel Out of Position takes place in the world of professional football. In 2010, he released both Shadow of the Father, which takes place in the world of Volle, and Bridges, a short novel about the building and breaking of relationships. He is currently hard at work on the sequel to Out of Position.

He was not born in California, but now considers it his home. He loves to travel and dine out with his partner of many years, Kit Silver, and can be seen at furry conventions in California, around the country, and abroad. With his friend K.M. Hirosaki, he hosts a podcast about writing called "Unsheathed," produced by Kit, and although Kit and K.M. both enjoy a glass of wine, Kyell prefers Coke Zero to fuel his podcasting and writing.

I loved this book. Very descriptive. I love how this book's theme could happen in real life and probably has. Read it 5 times and halfway through the 6th. I recomend to everyone in the furry fandom, people who love this kind of genre, and more. 10 stars

The first Kyell Gold novel I read about five years ago. Since then, I've delved into virtually all of his works and they're always touching and filled with great characters. I definitely recommend this, even if you aren't gay or a furry.

So far I think this is Kyell Golds Best Anthropomorphic books that he has written. As well, the illustration are epic! I have to say, blotch did a well job making the illustrations for this book. 5+ Stars

I have found these past few weeks of reading the stories of Kyeel Gold extreamly entertaining. Out of Position continues to be one of my most beloved books. Now although this story does involve a lot of mature material, it's not just another smut story, it's a wondersul story that involves these two learning more about themselves, what they want in life, and where the future will take them. I highly recomend this book.

This novel was not what I expected when I first purchased it. I was expecting an okay read with some interesting parts here and there. I was honestly surprised. This book is a smooth read and extremely good character development. A very good book for the furry community.
