Fascinating gems of social history are woven into stories of How, Why, and especially When vintage fashions evolved ... written by an experienced costume designer with an insightful sense of humor ... making this a surprisingly good read.

Over 700 charming, sequential illustrations reveal style clues that time-date clothes & old photographs of the 19th-21st centuries, making this, your primary "go-to" reference book...

Out-of-Style has testimonials from famous genealogists, university professors of theatre, Disneyland designers, and many more.

Out-of-Style has been added to all campus libraries at the prestigious FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) and at the Ringling College of Art and Design for their film program. Out-of-Style was reviewed by the Costume Society of America and added to their book store.

"This broad compilation of evolving fashion...makes a valuable addition to any reference collection " says Kirkus Reviews.

I found "Out of Style by Betty Kreisel Shubert to be a treasure chest of fashions through out the ages. I thought I knew a great deal about fashion but learned so much from this meticulously researched book. It took me an a wonderful walk down memory lane with fashions I've worn and read about beginning centuries before I was born. It would be a fabulous resource book for any author of regency romances, history . . . A complete guide from the 1820 though the 60's for men, women, and children. Complete with drawings and life styles. A must for costume designers. This treasure is written in easy to understand text. My hats off to Betty for all the detailed work on a valuable part of our history.
