About the Author

Carter Quinn was born and raised in a very small Western Kansas town where cattle vastly outnumber humans. Because he's contrary by nature, upon graduating high school, he went East, young man, hoping to find more people like him (shh: the gays!). After stints living in places as different as Omaha, Nebraska, and Ft Lauderdale, Florida, he settled in Lawrence, Kansas, and attended the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!). Although he still bleeds (Crimson and) Blue, Carter recently relocated to Colorado where he can be closer to his beloved Colorado Avalanche. He is the paw-picked human companion of the sweetest dog on the planet, a Beagle-surprise mix named Yashe.

I'm addicted to reading and have read hundreds of books over the years but never once have I rated a book until now. This book was so good it touched on every emotion you can have ( from utter sadness to overwhelming joy and everything in between ). I wanted to fight for Avery and hug Sam  and Noah.  Carter Quinn did such a wonderful job on bring these characters to life I'm exited to read more of his books!! I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a book that touches your very soul!!

This book blew me away. It was heartbreaking at the same time it was heartwarming. Avery is a young man who live a horrific childhood. His only saving grace was his foster brother Sam who became his protector and caregiver. After everything Avery has endured he doesn't believe his is worthy of anything. Sam finally gets him to agree to see a therapist and try to come to terms with his past so he can have a future. At the same time he has a chance meeting with Noah. A big strong guy who terrifies him just on site. Noah instantly realizes this and begins to approach Avery like a skittish colt. It turns out they have mutual friends and though it will take an enormous amount of time Noah is willing to do whatever he needs to in order to have Avery in his life. They embark on a journey of friendship, healing and in the end love. While I would have liked an epilogue to see how all the characters made out it was still a 5 star read.

The first 6 Chapters I cried for Avery. I cried because the world was so cruel to him. And after those 6 Chapters I laughed, cried a little, and just rooted for Avery and Noah. He had such a strong friend and family base that I wanted to jump in this book and give him a strong hug and cut his bangs. Normally I don't go for the book that makes me cry so much, but I'm glad that I did. I can't wait to read more work from this amazing Author.
