Overview

Torie Mills is beautiful, successful and a New York Times best-selling historical romance author. Determined to find some solace from her fast paced and demanding life, she decides to move to Mahaska County, Iowa—a mile outside of the tiny town of Fremont and into her great-great-grandparent’s old homestead. Her plan is to restore the property to its 1870 glory days.

She hires handsome, renovation expert Dave Cameron to do the work and together they bring the old Victorian house back to life. When Torie moves in, she discovers that restoring the house has opened a portal into the past. Time traveling each night to the Fremont of old, becomes her wonderful escape and her secret obsession.

When she and Dave become lovers, he gets swept into the travels as well—until they both realize, much too late, that there was evil in the past that would have been better left alone.

I read this as part of a challenge, as time travel isn't a sub-genre I would normally choose to read. That being said, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I loved hearing about the renovations and work being done by Dave. I also fell in love with him immediately. I liked Torie and her passion for writing and researching geneology. I thought Claire was a wonderful addition to the story. I enjoyed the time warps experienced and thought it was interesting how much she knew based on her own family research. I'm pleased I picked this book to read. If the same characters are involved, I could even see myself reading more of this series.

This book was a unique take on time-travel. I very much enjoyed the added family history and ditterent time periods. The love story was very well written with just enough heat to make it a true romance. Highly recommend this read. SQ

I like time travel books; also, I like to finish reading books that I purchase. I did finish this book, but it was like torture. It is extremely slow paced and so full of useless information the author injected, it was like author was just trying to make the book longer for some unknown reason? After first half of book, i sped things up by skimming over perhaps 50% of pages and did 't miss a thing relevant to the ending. Rewrite, leave out all the useless info and there would be a 150 page book that might be pleasurable to read.

I really enjoyed this book! I've read a lot of time travel romances, but this one was slightly different from the others...in a good way, of course. I loved the characters and the chemistry between them. There was suspense and laughter, and I didn't find one boring moment while reading. It is well written.

I really enjoyed this book. It's a different twist on time travel. It's an interesting journey. The love story is sweet. The ending is unexpected and will leave you shaken. Great read...sw

I liked this book. It takes 100 pgs for the romance to begin and then it happens too quickly for my taste. There was a long-building friendship and then boom.... they're in bed. Before that, they'd have a moment and she was off traveling so the spark had to wait. I found too much family history in the first half of the book. She travels back in time in her dreams to gain family history and there are SO many relatives that it is hard to keep a grasp on them. But, that said, the last half of the book does keep your attention to the end.

I normally love time travel romance books but this book was not great. It moved too slow, way too many characters from the past and grammatical errors.
