Outcast by Laura Marie Altom

When disavowed Navy SEAL, Jasper King, receives this cryptic message from Eden Marabella, an English lit professor he's fallen hard for, he's out of his mind with worry. Her behavior was already odd when she dumped him right before heading for Antarctica, but his every protective instinct kicks in when he takes her words as a cry for help.

Eden harbors a heartbreaking secret she never wants Jasper to know, which is why she followed her biologist father to his Antarctic research station. Upon her arrival, she expects to reflect on the cruel hand she's been dealt, only to discover dozens of dead Orcas washed along a lonely stretch of shore.

Jasper is also hiding secrets he'd rather not face, which is why he doesn't think twice about calling in a favor from his boss at Trident, Inc. Protective Services to arrange transport for him to the South Pole. Upon his arrival at the station, Jasper finds Eden's actions stranger than ever until realizing he's stumbled upon a nightmare far bigger than he'd ever imagined.

Eden's father is missing, and she's been taken hostage. The demand for her release? She must reveal the location to a vast Nazi treasure vault. But how can she do that when not only has she never heard of it, but she has no idea where it could be?

Will Jasper and Eden put aside their differences long enough to find the treasure and save her father? Or will they both be killed by maniacal fortune hunters or worse yet, the brutally cold and treacherous environment?

Liked the book much more than 'rogue', the first in this series. I dislike stupid whiney heroines. Lucky for me Eden in this book is a much stronger female. Liked the story set in Antarctica with hidden treasures. My only complaint is that the story is short, just over 100 pages. I like more for my money. If there were any typos they were so minor I didn't notice. Good pacing of action I thought with only one sex scene towards the end although there were memories of previous encounters. I liked the story enough to consider buying the next. Guess I'll have to check on amazon first to see the number of pages since barnes and noble doesn't seem to list with regularity....

Outcast by Laura Marie Altom SEAL Team: Disavowed Book Two Jasper King had vowed never to allow himself to fall in love. He didn't deserve to after what his foolish younger self had done. He'd done well with that vow. Joining the Navy and then working for Trident, Inc. with his other disavowed SEAL brothers. Did real well, until she came into his life. And then left it. Eden Marabella had the rest of her life planned. Starting with one last visit to Antarctica, where her father's life work had been. She missed Jasper but there was no way she'd put him through what her father had gone through with her mother. And then all heck broke out and even though she pushed him away...Jasper came to help her. Great series. Both this story and book one, Rogue, are action packed with romance lingering on the edges. Romance being secondary as the guys are a bit too busy saving their women at the moment to stop to buy flowers. Looking forward to the rest of the stories. Book three is Shunned. **Sexual content and language

Boy oh boy does Laura Marie Altom take the reader for a ride in the second book of the series, Disavowed. A quick read and more importantly, you don't have to have read the 1st book in order to understand the story. It even includes a cat! Wonderful characters and keeps you guessing who you can really trust in the end.

The second book in the SEAL Team: Disavowed series does not disappoint! It's full of intrigue and has you trying to figure out who the good guys are right up until the end. It was nice seeing the guys again from the first book in the series, Rogue ... and can't wait for Book 3 to get here! Eden Marabella is fretting about the injustice of life when she arrives at her father's research site in Antartica to join him on an excursion. She's just broken up with sexy ex-SEAL, Jasper King and is wishing things could have been different. Jasper is at his wits end when he receives a voicemail from Eden and at the end, she says "They're all dead", then the call suddenly drops and he's not able to reach her back. He uses his connections to make his way to Antartica to check on her. He arrives to find her father missing, strange happenings going on with the crew, and Eden being held hostage with demands for her to tell where a Nazi treasure vault is located. Will they figure out what is going on and make it out safely?
