Approximately 1% of women younger than age 40 years develop premature ovarian failure. All gynecologists should read this book as the definitive resource on the subject. The authors are active investigators in the field of immunology. Line drawings are of excellent quality and clarify relevant textual matter. Monochrome photographs, both light and electron microscopy, are of excellent quality. Their value would be greater if they were larger. The references are extensive and current; the bibliography is reason alone to have this book on your shelf. The table of contents is useful and the index adequate. This is a valuable resource for investigators in the field of ovarian physiology and pathophysiology. This is also a needed reference for clinicians who care for women with amenorrhea, infertility, climacteric symptoms, and autoimmune disorders.
