Extract from Introduction: Welcome to Gunville! History has left people with sharply defined views of our home. Although it boasted three chapels and no public house, it was once viewed as a lawless place where you took care not to tarry, or were escorted through.
Inhabitants of past generations found their employment within the village, working and socialising with their neighbours; provisions were conveyed to them by specialised transport; there was innovation and entrepreneurship, and export of goods to lands far from the Island.
Modern families live busy but more insular lives, commuting to schools and work, or operating small businesses from home.
Learn what our neighbours remember of the life of Gunville.
