This is a beautifully illustrated and heartwarming story written in verse that shows the evolving friendship between two very different creatures. The words are nicely descriptive, but simple enough for little ones to understand and are uniquely drawn by hand on each page. The pictures are colorful and eye-catching and the poems were quickly picked up/remembered by my four-year old. A nice story for kids, but would also make a good gift for a long-time friend of any age. I liked that the book did not come with an annoying dust-jacket that would only get ripped or stuffed in the closet, but it did have a durable, glossy hard cover that seemed like it would stand up to lots of snuggly-reading time.
