I enjoyed this anthology, which also allowed me to contribute to the charity Oxfam because a famous group of authors contributed stories for it. I think the best story was "Caught Short" by Anthony Horowitz, which was about an arrogant young ad exec on whom life gets revenge in a very amusing and appropriate way. I bought his best-selling novel "House of Silk" afterwards (he also originated Foyle's War and Midsomer Murders, which I also enjoy). I also bought the most recent novel by Fred Varagas because of her story, which allowed me to meet Inspector Adamsberg. The story "Five Francs Each" was not only clever, but the characters were real and interesting (I am not surprised she has won the CWI Dagger award four times!). I immediately wanted to spend more time with Adamsberg. Finally I especially enjoyed Yrsa Sigurdardottir's "Black Sky" and purchased her recent book "Ashes to Dust." I should also mention Anne Cleeves, who contributed a very interesting story (she has written the Vera novels). All in all, an interesting anthology where you are likely to find a story by at least one of your favorite authors.

I am a acquaintance of both authors And when I read about Mark having a story in this collection I ordered it Imeadeitlly . When I received it and looked the book over Hidden among the other Gems; was one by Billingham's friend And (one of my other favorite current authors) John Connelly . throw in Stories by Some of Europe's best authors (and a few from Here in "the Colonies"), and you have a great read and top of this the proceeds are for charity! if you enjoy this there are 3 more collections in the series.
