Ozzfest 2001: The Second Millennium

The folks who put together this 65-minute foray into the belly of the beast have issued a boast that "finally, hell has a soundtrack." Well, for those of you not prone to hightailing it out of the room when Beelzebub and company come blazing in, let us assure you that they ain't kidding. Culling live tracks -- recorded in June 2001 -- from bands off all three stages on this year's Ozzfest tour, The Second Millennium pays homage to evildoers both young -- e.g., American Head Charge, whose "Reach and Touch" is guaranteed to raise a few hackles -- and, shall we say, mature, such as perennial headliners Black Sabbath, who check in with a wicked version of "The Wizard." There's a good bit of musical dexterity, as evidenced by a searing "Superterrorizer," courtesy of Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society, as well as a heaping helping of bad attitude, in the form of Hatebreed and Disturbed. Marilyn Manson's sneering "Love Song" takes on an intensity only hinted at in the studio version, while Slipknot's "New Abortion" goes a long way towards capturing the chaos the masked men exude onstage. Yeah, fans of long bathroom lines and smelly bodies might think there's something missing from the live experience, but for the rest of us, The Second Millennium is every bit as good as being there.

This si the best CD out there! You probably have to be a big fan of hard rck and metal to appreciate this great live CD. THey have some of the oldie sof rock, like Black Sabbath, and some of the newer ones, like Disturbed and Linkin Park. If you like most of the bands on the CD, buy it. It is probably one of the best decisions you'll ever make.
