Overview

Some friends are big and strong... Some are small, but the only thing that really matters in life, is being a good friend to all!

When the World Wide Chess Championship comes to town, Pablo Prairie Dog finally meets his hero, Bodacious Buffalo, the half-human, half-buffalo hero of the WWCC - a wild mix of chess and professional wrestling. Disappointment follows when Pablo, who wants nothing more than to train as a WWCC hero, is cast aside because of his small size. Pablo finally gets his chance to shine when he's the only creature small enough to save Buffalo's treasured pet kitty, Chili, from a dangerous well. Through his adventures with the WWCC all-star team, Pablo Prairie Dog discovers his own importance and realizes his unique qualities are what make him special.

Join Pablo Prairie Dog and his friends on the adventure of a lifetime! Bodacious Buffalo, Chili, Chatty Chick-Dog, Ellegirl, Rancorous Ram and Malapert Mustang will entertain and excite readers of all ages.

This clever and cute kids book shines because of the lovely illustrations. Pablo Prairie Dog is a unique little critter who wanders off to follow the Heroes of the World Wide Chess Championship, a strange mix of professional wrestling and chess. Although the characters and 'matches' are fun to read, the story also has heart...and my nieces and nephews took immediately to the story of friendship and of finding your own voice. I recommend this for kids up to about 6 or 7 years old but it really shines with 3 to 5 year olds.
