Chapter One

      Love just is ...

    The color red;
Water is not as thick as blood.
You still remember the things he said,
But he chose to treat you like mud.
    Your charming stud,
    Turned into a dud.
    He stood you up,
And then later has the nerve to say what's up.
He kept you thinking he could still be the
    one.
After all the things he had done,
    He just turned his head.
    You he shunned,
And you're the fool who wishes you were
    dead.
    Now he's studying med,
And you won't get out of bed.
    Your heart wasn't getting fed.
At least that's what they said,
    The day you bled.
    You remembered that last moment,
Your time and you owned it.
    His apology couldn't postpone it.
It might have been different if you would've
    known it.
You need to find yourself and leave him
    alone,
'Cause pain you don't want it.
What you think is right, is really wrong.
No one decides when it hits,
    Or crashes into a ditch.
    Love just is,
Like a cut without a stitch,
    A soar that can't heal,
A fuss that makes a big deal.
If it doesn't make you ill,
    It's sweet as sugar peels,
Your candy giving you an elevated feel.
It causes a love drugee to propose, and get
    down and kneel.
It'll leave you wanting one more kiss,
Then he leaves you for another young miss.
    Love just is,
Even if you have to take the ultimate diss,
    Love just is.

      The unexpected

I don't really know how to feel about this
    thing.
I don't know what to call it.
It's something I'm not used to,
An attraction that came out of the blue.
    Your touch is tantalizing,
    Your smile enchanting,
    Your knowledge entrancing,
    And your eyes,
    Beautiful.
I didn't expect us to be going down the same
    path.
    When I couldn't see,
I didn't expect you to bring out the best in
    me.
    You saw right through me,
My inner self revealed to you.
    I feel naked.
When you grow weary and tired of waiting,
    Expect the unexpected.

      Say yes!!

It's something about the way you look.
It's something about that breath you just took.
I hope this poetic crunkness gets inside your heart
    and soul.
'Cause my plan is to get you shook.
Wise beyond my years, I was told.
Your innocence of love can't be taken.
    Your truth is within.
And for others you could be hope.
What I'm telling you is no joke.
You could breathe life in that crying note,
Just like I could write that beautiful letter carried
    over by ship or boat.
Patience is what's all around us.
Lilac petals in the river, they float.
A young love's sympathy has yet to follow us.
Our two connected souls are putting up a sweet
    fuss.
    And they ask why us?
    Long whispers say trust.
But what are you to do?
Will you put up a good fight,
    Or sing the blues,
    And say goodnight?
I can see it in your eyes.
Remember words were once told that I was wise.
    It's not a surprise.
Your heart and mind is full of stress.
    With this love free yourself,
    And just say yes!!

      Somewhere under the moon

    In a classic untimely book,
Is a story that was shook,
And tormented with people's wants and funny
    looks.
For the talk of fortunes and great happenings,
    Sometimes turned into shocking unraveling.
And to be misunderstood was neither bad nor
    good.
When wise people and people wise beyond their
    years joined,
To decipher between the heartache and tears.
It was all because of a fairytale's constant jeers.
    A book of lies,
    Troubled the wise,
And led you to find a tricky surprise.
For truth is like your sight,
And you know it doesn't deceive.
Because it's what lies beneath the eyes that ties.
    Whether you choose to accept,
    Or you're tired of regret,
Have ye but a little faith,
And you will find your fairytale.
    And somewhere under the moon,
    Is where you'll sail.
Even with your wise findings, the story is brought
    up in you.
    And it will compel.
And until the day prince-charming finds me,
    I'll be waiting here,
    Somewhere under the moon.

      Never been kissed

You say I'm little Miss Priss,
Every boy and young man's one wish.
I always seemed to get dissed,
For being me, pretty, and with.
Although, my so-called history is a myth.
    I've never been kissed.
I don't know who told you this.
It wasn't me in the back of his four seater,
Listening to R. Kelly's greatest hits.
How did I make the list?
    Even though I'm not mad,
This subject is starting to make me sad.
    Never been kissed,
Tell me, what have I missed?
I was too busy trying to find Mr. Worth It.
And now I think I must've cursed it.
To feel the brush of his lips up against mine,
Makes me want to turn back the hands of time.
True love is too hard to find.
So, I'll just settle for someone fine this time.
    Never been kissed,
And I'm going to make sure the essence of sweet
    bliss is mine.
    It's long overdue,
    And it's time.
I see a cutie standing in line,
So it's time to claim what's rightfully mine.
    Never been kissed,
Oh, how I remember the time.

      The Connection

    I feel a gentle touch.
It sends shivers up my spine.
    My lips quiver,
From the thought of your top and
    bottom,
    Meeting mine.
    It's equivalent to a current.
    Sharp
    Quick
    Electric
I hope I can endure it.
    Your love
    My love
    Connected

      He is ...

He is the bass in my song,
    Playing over and over.
    He is the bridge,
    That carries me over.
    He doesn't use smooth tones,
    Or cheesy lines.
    His charming verse,
    Isn't well rehearsed.
He always keeps it real with me,
    My best friend,
Who will be there now and then.
    In love we get lost.
    We're going to ride,
Until the wheels on his car fall off.
And he likes that I'm my own boss,
And that I don't have to depend.
He sees me for who I am.
    He knows what's within.
He's the next best thing, next to kin,
Killing me oh, so softly with the text messages
    he sends.
Like candy apples dipped in hot fudge or
    caramel,
My sweet tooth for him will always prevail.
I guess I'll be crazy in love like Beyonce,
    And spinning on a carousel.
His chorus is so impressionable and bold.
And every note he knows just how to hold.
He is apart of my heart and soul.
He is as much a need as he is a want,
    And I can't control.
    When I cry,
    He cry,
    And we cry together.
When I look at him and he looks at me,
    I'll know it's forever.
    Like Now and Laters,
He'll stay longer than a while.
    He is my kool-aid man,
    With just enough sugar,
To make me a permanent fan.
He is truth, and his strength shines through.
And he's always spontaneous and new.
And by the time he reads this,
He already knows what to do.
    No need to ask how.
    Romeo, Romeo, where art thou?

      Kool-aid Man

They say there's nothing like Romeo's love,
    But Juliet's my homegirl,
So he's not the one I've been thinking of.
    Prince-charming is every girl's fantasy.
And the wannabe Casanova doesn't impress me.
    Yeah, he's conceited.
And Cinderella couldn't believe he cheated.
And you say in the book, you didn't read it.
But I thought I told you this is my story,
    A message much needed.
And all I want to feel is something real and free,
    Everlasting dreams,
    Someone only down for me.
Like a good juice that's new to me,
    Its taste is interesting,
    And so tempting.
    Like sweet tea,
    It's so fulfilling.
Down is something you can't be.
    Happily ever after,
    Is what you're after.
But it doesn't exist in a storybook,
'Cause I rewrote the last chapter.
Read between the lines and you'll find a fun, new
    surprise.
    It's a fairytale without lies,
A tall, fly, and sweet guy,
    With one dimple,
And a sparkle of love in his eyes.
    Yet he's so simple.
He changes his hair styles from fades to braids.
He wears all of your favorite color tees,
That you like on your guy.
And he's got a Thousand Watt smile to make you
    weak in the knees.
For your love he's not afraid to cry.
    He makes your chocolate melt,
    By the lemonade stand.
    His love you felt.
    Real love in the summertime,
Is what you really want to find.
    And he's right on time.
    He's my good, bad boy,
With plans of doing big things.
    He's a rider and provider.
    He keeps it tight.
    He's my baller.
And he always treats me right.
He's like the remix to my sprite.
    Yeah, he's alright.
    He's a Kool-aid man,
    With just enough sugar,
To make me a permanent fan.
He has more flavor than a soda can,
Keeping me hype off that natural caffeine.
I've never had a soldier like him,
If you know what I mean.
I'll be cruising with my Kool-aid man,
    Riding low.
His sweet crunk juice is so contagious.
    We're getting loose,
    And getting outrageous.
    There's no stopping it,
Because we're popping and locking it.
He's always showing me so much love.
    Like a snicker bar,
    His sugar is sneaking up,
    On me.
    And I can't get enough.
    Hot out of the oven,
    Yeah, he came with it.
He feeds my hunger, and I'm loving it.
    My love,
He's got it in the bag.
    Kool-aid man,
    Yeah, he's got swag.

Babyface ... An Ode to Hip
      Hop's Unwritten Past

Babyface is the only one for me.
    Like an unwritten story,
Hip Hop's love is a sure beat.
And a little bird told me,
    Babyface adores me.
    You're my history.
    You're my future.
    I don't know what I'll do,
    If I ever lose you.
    Born in 1988,
Growing up listening to all of the Greats,
    We were inseparable.
A lot of people wanted to hate,
    But you were real,
So with you I could relate.
    Your dreams,
    My dreams,
    Big dreams,
Sometimes things are harder than it seems,
But we get through it together,
    Because we're a good team.
    You should've been named Jovial,
Because you bring me so much joy,
    And boogie down,
    Because you love to dance.
And you never gave the other girls a chance.
One thing we both had in common,
Was the love of hip hop,
    And the flow of rhyming.
It was like an instant love shock.
    And the love won't stop,
    Can't stop.
Babyface is the only one for me.
    Like an unwritten story,
Hip Hop's love is a sure beat.
And a little bird told me,
    Babyface adores me.

      Expect the Unexpected

He came while I wasn't looking.
He came and I looked right over him,
As I reached for the box of cereal on the third
    shelf.
I felt his eyes glaring back at me when I turned
    to face him.
And in an instance, there were no words to say.
    Nothing would come out.
    He didn't budge.
Oh, how I hoped he would budge.
He was indescribable and his confidence ...
    bold.
Right before he could fathom enough words to
    say,
I turned to walk away, and headed towards the
    milk.
Hmmm ... visions of him linger as I fill up my
    cart.
Although, something new I definitely didn't
    want to start.
As I checked off everything on my list,
I found myself peering down every aisle.
Dang, the least I could've done was give him a
    smile.
I was ready to check out, and as soon as I did,
There he was in front of me,
    Smiling,
    Talking,
    Laughing,
    And then moving with me.
    He was different.
    He was something new.
    I wasn't paying attention, and I didn't plan it.
I guess it's true that when you're not looking,
    You can expect the unexpected.

      Hot Chocolate

    Hot chocolate,
    Sweet poetry,
    A treat doesn't quite say,
How good you make me feel today.
    You're looking mighty scrumptious,
    I must say.
With your white tee and fresh sneakers,
Oh, how I love your style,
    And features.
    I think this one's a keeper.
I wonder will he shower me with simple
    things,
    And something they all mean.
    And make my favorite,
    Chocolate cake,
Even if it's not a holiday.
    Would you like to celebrate,
    Pina Coladas,
    On the first date?
With him it would be like icing on a cake.
His love I surely would appreciate.
Together we can sail many seas.
    We can conquer anything.
When I'm around you it'll feel like spring.
    All the beautiful flowers,
    To me you'll bring.
    We'll sit in the park,
    Listening to Hummingbirds sing.
    With you,
    There are no attached strings.
    You stand tall,
    Like a self-confident king.
    You are a pioneer,
    My chocolate musketeer.
Through the distant whispers in the wind,
To hear your voice was my choice.
    And to see your eyes,
Is to find where my love lies,
And how fluently the connection ties.
    Hot chocolate,
    Sweet poetry,
You don't know what your love does to me.
I want to be your sweet candy girl.
Can I walk with you in your life?
Together we can shine light on this world.
    Let me,
    Ms. Poetic Inspiration,
    Be your girl.
In a world of fight and crime,
    We shall shine.
    It's our time,
    Changing views,
    And seeing that,
True love is what people should abuse.
A humble path you should choose.
    All is fair,
    In a lovers dare.
    Hot chocolate,
    Sweet poetry,
You don't know what your love does to me.
    On cold winter days,
    Whose love I crave.
    Your warmth fills me.
    Your heart comforts me.
    Your beautiful mind reassures me.
    You're a sugar rush,
    My kool-aid man,
    Drinking an icee slush.
I heard you have a great plan,
And you're still a stupid crush.
    I don't want to rush.
So, for now I'll keep what I'm feeling on the
    hush.
    Hot chocolate,
    We will rise,
Like a new little kids candy surprise.

      Strawberry Cheesecake

    Why creep?
Remember all of the promises you have to
    keep.
Can we go back to the way things used to be,
When you were always there for me?
You told me I was your angel.
Why do you want to set me free?
Why are you not only dedicated to me?
    I don't want to fuss.
I can live with a lie or two.
There's no need to explain, hush.
I dream of having your last name.
I'm seriously considering playing your game.
Although, I can't help but question us,
In the end, who's going to end up hurt,
With pain as sweet as yogurt?
Everyone is waiting for my heart to break.
And I guess somewhere in this love spell,
    I'm waiting too.
When I start to wish I could forget you,
I realize I can't get enough of you.
So keep doing what you do.
And heartbreaker to me, will you stay true?
I didn't plan for life without you.
You've never said I love you,
But do you feel it too?
    Just like strawberry cheesecake,
They say I don't need you.
    You're nothing but a stomachache,
    About to cause a heartache.
    And yet I'm still convinced.
    You are the best mistake.
