Painting With Watercolor, Pen & Ink based on 0 ratings. 2 reviews.
I am a long time pen and ink artist who has done sketches in pen and ink for my own pleasure. In the past two years I have taken water color classes, and have heard Cluaudia Nices named mentioned from my instructor that if he was to write a book on watercolor painting, that the format that she used would be the way he would do it. The book is very good at discribing the thecniques used to combine watercolor painting with pen and ink. Very informative, I will be using it as a reference manual for all my future paintings and will buy other books from her in the future.
I bought this as a gift for someone wanting to start working in watercolor. She is already a professional artist but looking to try something new, so that is the context of her review. It's a very good introduction to the basics of water color. It has good information presented in a easy to understand format. There are plenty of pictures to illustrate techniques. This book should help overcome the initial hesitation many people have when trying something new. There are limits to how far any one book can go, but this is a good start. I'm not sure if combining watercolor with pen & ink serves the reader well, but there are enough similarites for me that it works.
