Ivonne Acosta as always puts together incredible work. 'La Palabra como Delito, los discursos por los que condenaron a Pedro Albizu Campos 1948-1950' is an incredible compilation of the twelve speeches by Nationalist Party leader Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos that were used against him and sentence him to prison for wanting to overthrough the U.S. Government in Puerto Rico. It shows masterfully the lame excuses the government used to convict this great independence movement leader. Using the now famous 'Ley de la Mordaza' or the 'little Smith Law, ( a variation of the U.S. law), this man was convicted mearly for speaking his mind. The problem was that when he spoke, people listened, and what he spoke, was the truth. Taken from transcrips and recordings from the Police Force and FBI agents, this book illustrates the power this man had of pursuasion. A remarkable way to at least read the words of a great leader, and transport us to a place we never knew, but would have wanted to be a witness to.
