Overview

A young-adult fiction novel written by a young-adult, Olivia Beattie (15).

What is paradise? Does 'paradise' even exist? Could it be a place, or perhaps a state of being?

A private high school steeped in corruption plays as the backdrop as an unlikely bunch of teenagers ends up in the Virtual Board Gaming club, and each of them begins to ponder those very questions. Amidst the rapidly increasing chaos on the compromised campus, the Virtual Board Gaming club-secretly known as the Paradise Syndicate-is planning a school-wide revolution, and no member will be left unchanged. But in all of this, will their questions find answers? And just what, exactly, are the shrouded origins of the curious syndicate?

About the Author

Olivia is a fifteen-year-old in high school who enjoys writing, composing, and the arts. This is her first novel, but don't worry, it's definitely not her last. Ms. Beattie is already, at her young age, an acclaimed author within the community of her two parents and best friend, Kasey. She often spends her time in an epic inner battle between the love of writing and the temptation of procrastination. Olivia's favorite things to do include eating cold pizza in the middle of the night, staring out windows, sleeping for ungodly amounts of time, and being sarcastic. Some things Olivia doesn't particularly enjoy are high pollen levels, those times when you think there's a hair in your mouth but there really isn't, and writing about herself. Over the years, Olivia has been endowed with piles and piles of 'good effort' and 'great participation' awards, but is still charging head-on towards her ultimate goal of the coveted title 'slightly above average'.
