Parallels Between Platonism and Mahayana Buddhism
In Parallels Between Platonism and Mahayana Buddhism, Oscar Ichazo makes a comparison of the corresponding similarities between the two historical and classic teachings of Plato and Nagarjuna. He shows how the Greek Tradition and Buddhism are intertwined, using doctrinal similarities and numerous examples of the encounters between the Greek and Indian cultures to reveal how the theory of 'Mind-only' was first proposed in Greek Platonism. The exposition continues with an explanation of the structure of other Greek and Buddhist doctrines, making historical parallels of their doctrinal roots. Because of the in-depth scholarly approach, this book provides a valuable contribution to the foundation of historical Knowledge in terms of understanding the sources provided by Western culture and their enormous influence in respect to the higher perspective of the same Universal Truth as found in all true traditions, for the benefit of all humanity.

About the Author

Oscar lchazo is the originator of the new tradition of Integral Philosophy, which presents a complete analysis of the human condition from the lowest levels of subjectivity up to the Highest States of Enlightenment (Gk. Theosis). In 1968 he founded the Arica School of Knowledge, through which he presented the Enneagrammatic Theory of Protoanalysis (first analysis) as well as its Theoretical Teachings and Practices of Integralism.
From the beginning Ichazo’s Teachings answered three most important metaphysical questions: What is humankind? What is the Supreme Good of humanity? What is the Truth that gives meaning and value to human life? His work also includes the Universal Truths supported by a new logic of cycles called “Trialectics,” the logical Laws of the Mind in the ‘process of becoming.’
Ichazo wrote numerous books and training manuals (group trainings, individual trainings, and meditational practices), for over fifty?–?five years. The Oscar Ichazo Foundation was established to support the publications endeavor and is the nonprofit organization in which the copyrights of the Integral Philosophical Knowledge are held, including the teachings and trainings into the Higher States of attainment. The Arica School, through Arica Institute Training Sponsors, has presented Ichazo’s live group trainings of Protoanalysis and other related teachings worldwide.
Ichazo died at his home on Maui, Hawai’i in 2020 at the age of 88, and is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sarah, who is the editor and publisher of his teachings through The Oscar Ichazo Foundation. With many friends and students of the Arica School, she continues to offer Ichazo’s teachings for the benefit of all and the realization of a united humanity (Humanity–?One).
