Penzo, LICSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with the VA Boston Healthcare System, where she utilizes dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills in her work with spinal-cord-injured patients and their caregivers. She is also a trained teacher who has worked with elementary and middle school students. Jeanine is the mother of three children, one of whom suffers from emotion dysregulation.

I found this book to be very informative, insightful and helpful. I have gone through DBT training with my family for my nephew and this book really helped me have a better understanding of this approach and the skills attached to it. This book gave me hope, and inspired me to keep trying. It has helped me accept that I am doing the best that I can, and I need to do better in a lot of areas of my life and relationships.
