Parents of gifted children will find this book very supportive. As a parent of a gifted child, this guide has given me the encouragement to follow through and support my child no matter what level she is at. She is a person too and deserves to be treated as an equal human being. I found "Parenting for Life" inspiring and parents with gifted children would benefit from reading this book.

This thought provoking guide was easy to read and follow. It helped me to examine aspects of parenting on many levels. I began to look at my our childhood in a more examined way, not just what happened but to begin to understand some of why things happen and to both take joy and healing from that. I was able to more closely track how, what and why I did as a parent raising a child. I will be getting a copy to pass down to my grown girl so that we may both explore some of the aspects of her own childhood and help to strengthen our current day relationship. I also feel it a great gift to give my girl as she explores what kind of parents she and her partner want to be as they are getting reading to have their own children. I highly recommend this book!

As I recently divorced father with a 21 year old son, I was trying to figure out how to change the old paradigm and forge a new one with my son. This book is very well written and insightful and helped me figure out a new approach which I believe is working. I would recommend this book highly. Easy to read and I especially like the "take away" panels for those of us with short attention spans.

The basis for all of our relationships comes from the primary relationship with our parents. As a therapist who works with children and families to strengthen connections, to heal past traumas, and to deepen an understanding of how parents can best support their children through all ages and stages, I highly recommend this book to any parent with children of any age AS WELL as adult children who want to understand and/or heal their relationships with a parent or both parents. Parenting for Life is unique in that it offers the reader an understanding of the importance of early attachment, insight into the role of parenting for the entire lifespan, healing one's "inner child" as an adult, and has exercises at the end of each chapter to put these insights into action. Parenting for Life is a "must have" for any parent who is interested in conscious growth and learning at "all" stages of parenting and a book that one can refer to again and again for self-exploration and support in this most important role.

The ideal go-to manual for parents of all ages, who have children of all ages. This guide through the wilds of parent-child relationship is written from the perspective of a woman who is both a psychotherapist and mom who has 'been there, done that, got the t-shirt'. What makes the information all the more credible is that the author has raised her sons to successful young adulthood. Her personal and professional take on the topic is evident as she encourages the reader to take responsibility for his or her choices in the ways in which they parent. This magnificent book belongs not only on the shelves of parents, but those of therapists who work with families.

A great book for connecting, nurturing and creating a fantastic relationship with one's child(ren). Each chapter goes through the steps and understanding needed to understand how to be the best parent that one can be. Most people don't understand the concepts of attachment theory, but she eloquently illustrates how this understand can improve the relationship between a parent and a child. Each chapter has homework that enhances understanding. A lot of us start from scratch as new parents without a manual to guide oneself. This book is that parent's manual. Another aspect that I like with this book is being more conscious of oneself and one's children. A simple act of *real* listening can take one further then originally thought possible. I recommend this book to anyone. The evidence is already manifested of her knowledge and abilities with two great sons who are model adults.
