My favorite genre, westerns, has another great entry. This is the author's first shot at writing and he did a great job! This is the first episode of a planned series, and I can't wait to read the rest. Parsen is a gunfighter with a bit of a mean streak, and kind of a surly attitude. But he's not all bad as you'll see when you read it. All of the characters are interesting, and the descriptions right on. Dellamano really gives you the feeling of being in an Old West town.

Parsen is in town because his horse came up lame. But he doesn’t get much of a rest before his name causes quite a stir. Parsen is a gunslinger, but he knows his skills and he knows many people think they can make a name by killing him. There is a man that wants to even the playing field for others like him, a kid that figures this is the only way to get out of town, and some thugs that think they can force Parsen out of town. Clearly he is not going to get much of a rest before having to head out again. I liked this story. It was short and too the point. Parsen has a great history and I have to say that he has more control than I would have in these confrontations. Although he doesn’t come out of all of them without some bruises, he does take care of the problem. The writing is really well done and the fight sequences are well put together. Although this is a short read you don’t want to pass it up. I would like to read more from Robert. I can’t wait to see a full length novel. I received this story for free in exchange for an honest review.

Parsen Holt: Slinger is a classic western novel that truly makes the reader feel as though they're in the old west. Dellamano's dialogue and descriptives are so convincing, you'd swear he popped out of a painting of the American frontier sporting a ten-gallon hat. Parsen's a gunslinger who's in a bit of transition and finds himself holed up in a small Gold Rush settlement. But the small-town feel doesn't mean adventure and danger aren't abound; after all, this is the west. Masterfully written and richly evocative, this novel will make any reader want to kick up their boots and stay awhile.
