Lowrey knows journalism, and Kyla has experience in entrepreneurship; this has created the perfect synergy to launch the Happy Tails Books project. Lowrey has two adopted dogs of her own. Kyla has two adopted cats, an ex-puppy mill breeder dog, and a regular stream of foster dogs. Kyla and Lowrey donate a significant portion of book profits to animal welfare organizations.
