Landon Brinkley’s dreams are all coming true. She’s landed an internship with the fabulous Selah Smith, event planner for the Hollywood elite, taking her from small-town Texas to the bright lights of LA. Landon soon finds herself in a world in which spending a million dollars on an event—even a child’s birthday party—is de rigueur and the whims of celebrity clients are life-and-death matters. At first, the thrill of working on A-list parties and celebrity weddings is enough to get Landon through the seventy-five-hour workweeks and endless abuse at the hands of her mercurial boss. But when the reality of the business reveals itself, she’s forced to make a choice: do whatever it takes to get ahead, or stay true to herself.
Drawing on the author’s real-life experiences as an event planner to the stars, Party Girl takes readers on an adventure among Hollywood’s most beautiful—and most outrageous—people, revealing the ugly side of Hollywood’s prettiest parties.

"I' am strong, I' am Smart. I' am Courageous." This is Landon Blakely's mantra while working at SSE. After moving all the way from Texas. She's starting in a career she's always dreamed of, just not getting paid for it. She learns very quickly what is acceptable and what's totally not acceptable. Her boss Shelah totally reminds me of the character from the movie The Devil Wears Prada, totally just a, you know what. It is funny, sad and totally just throws you around. You totally feel for Blakely. But she puts her big girl panties on and pulls through. Handling things, that she was unsure she could get through. And also coming up with good ideas. Thankfully through all this, she has people in the office to help. I really liked Miko, she was pretty cool and genuinely wanting to help a girl. Throughout this whole book Landon really grows. She comes from Texas with a big dream and even with the bumps in the road, she comes out even stronger. Even more sure of herself. She learns to not let anyone just knock her around, she's no pushover. "Daddy was right. Half the battle is just having the courage to try." This was a fun, full of heart read and I really did enjoy this. Rachel brings these characters to life, in such an amazing way.....Lissa
