Four authors who also happen to be friends. Sixteen unique short stories. From tales of spies and trains and John Wayne, to monks, magic and marriage, readers will be entertained, challenged and inspired. The stories are as varied as the authors, yet they each portray individuals transitioning through the passageways of life.

Valerie D. Gray, Lisa Michelle Hess, Peter Leavell and Rebecca Carey Lyles met several years ago at a newly formed writers group in a back corner of Rediscovered Books, an Idaho indie bookstore. Over time, they became critique partners who share the ups and downs of the writing life as well as act as first readers for one another's work.

About the Author

Valerie D. Gray has finished her first young-adult novel, a time-travel mystery, and is now in the rewriting process, aiming for 2015 publication. She and her husband of 38 years, Bill Gray, gladly claim the title “trailing grandparents.” Several years ago, they followed their two daughters and their families from California to Boise, Idaho, where they all now reside. valeriegray.com

Lisa Michelle Hess is a literary fiction and non-fiction author and blogger, journalist, Christian non-profit consultant, mentor of women, homeschooling mom and a thoroughly Pacific Northwest girl. Her writing has appeared in numerous publications over the years. She is currently living in Boise, Idaho, and completing her first full-length novel.

Peter Leavell, a 2007 graduate of Boise State University with a degree in history, was the 2011 winner of Christian Writers Guild's Operation First Novel contest, and 2013 Christian Retailing's Best award for First-Time Author. His published works include “Gideon’s Call,” a Civil War novel, and “God & Gun,” a Dakota Territory western. Peter and his family live in Meridian, Idaho. peterleavell.com

Rebecca Carey Lyles grew up in Wyoming, the setting for her award-winning Kate Neilson novels, “Winds of Wyoming” and “Winds of Freedom.” She now lives in Idaho, where she serves as an editor and a mentor for aspiring authors and women transitioning from prison to life “on the outside.” She’s also writing the third book in the “Winds” series. beckylyles.com
