In Brooklyn Seminus demon Wraith chooses his prey carefully as all predators do, but also being a vampire he adheres to the Vampire Council ruling of one human kill a month. Still he enjoys hunting down the Upir gang, human vermin owned by vampires who appreciate blood sports especially since he can kill the vamps as if they are rodents. However, this time an unknown demon species hits him with a poisoned dart. Two weeks later, he awakens from unconsciousness to learn from his peers he has been poisoned and will die in four to six weeks unless he can obtain a charm possesses by archeologist Serena Kelley, who must willingly give him her artifact by giving him her virginity. Egotistical about his seduction prowess as an Incubus class demon, Wraith goes on the hunt with his prey being Serena. When she was seven years old, her mother gave her the charm that he covets and which has made her immortal; the only stipulation is that she must remain a virgin. However, he is not alone as the demon Byzamoth also wants that charm for a nefarious evil purpose. The third Demonica romantic urban fantasy (see PLEASURE UNBOUND and DESIRE UNCHAINED) is fast-paced from the onset in Brownsville and never slows down until the exhilarating climax in which much more than just two "souls" are at stake. Readers will be enthralled by the action and the charmed lead couple as the irresistible object (an incubus demon) meets the immovable force (an immortal mortal) as one must give up their immortality though both have eternal dreams; while also simply saving the world (something seems to always intrude). Passion Unleashed is the third book in Larissa Ione's Demonica series. I have to say this series has pretty much grabbed me by the, uh, fangs, in this case and held on. Each book seems to get better and better and somehow or another Ione grabs the reader's attention and doesn't let go. This book focuses on Wraith, a part human/vampire/demon. He doesn't care if he lives or dies and has shown that, despite his brother's feelings toward him, on several occasions. Previous books in the series have led him to be selfish and testy. Wraith becomes infected with a poison in which there is no antidote after he gets into a fight. Eidolon and Shade tell Wraith that he has to live or the hospital that they built with their blood (literally) will collapse. His only chance is to go after Serena Kelley, a charmed human. If he can take her virginity, he gets her charm which would cause him to stop dying. However, Wraith will soon discover that Serena is celibate for a good reason, because if she has sex, she will loose her charm and die. **Can you imagine?! Poor girl** What Wraith thinks will be easy, he soon finds is anything but. For the first time in his life, he is feeling something that he hasn't felt before.Protectiveness, possession, love. Without giving away additional details to the story I can tell you this was truly touching. You get to see a different side of Wraith and his transformation into someone who learns to put others before himself. The story is full of twists and turns, unexpected adventures, deceptiveness, loads of HOT sex scenes, and moments where you'll need a tissue box, and thus those reasons are why I would recommend this book, and this series, to readers around the world. I give this book five stars out of five.

Demons, vampires, and were's oh my... The is book has it all.. The different characters and the ever changing plot.. And let's not forget the 3 brothers.. mmmmm all sound like a set of dream boats.. I must admit some of the twists I did not see coming and I like that about a book.. Not to mention a Slayer who finds out she is half demon.. Now there is a plot twist for you.. I was told the series sucked but I am SO GLAD I still picked it up and read it.. looking forward to more..

Book 3 in this series is the best so far. I didn't believe any book in this series could be better than the first book. Boy, was I wrong! Wraith, the bad boy of the bunch, finds his equal in a human woman named Serena. The love story that develops between them is a slow build up that captures the spirit of these two characters. As with the other two books in this series, Ione is a master at developing side stories that keep the reader on edge. I savored every word! I highly recommend this series. Demons are my new favorite paranormal characters! I am looking forward to reading the next in this series.

Since this book has been previously reviewed in great detail by many, I'll keep my review brief. This is my favorite installment so far from the Demonica series. Wraith is truly my favorite of the brothers. His tragic life had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The book picks up about a year after Desire Unchained. Wraith has really stepped in it this time. Wraith has been poisoned with a toxin that has no known cure. His only hope is to get his hands on a powerful, ancient artifact that can save his life. Sadly the person currently in possession of it, Serena, needs it dearly to save her life. How do you convince someone to sacrifice themselves for you? Wraith really has a sudden attack of art imitates life; when the role he plays to seduce Serena metamorphose into reality. His bad boy exterior is cracking with each moment he deceives Serena by pretending to be human. Little does Wraith know that robbing Serena of her artifact could be the spark that ignites Armageddon. Meanwhile Wraith's life isn't the only one in jeopardy. The hospital is collapsing and the brothers have fallen ill. Demons are bum-rushing topside from Sheoul and chaos is rampant. Kenan and Gem got their much deserved attention in the spot light. I've always like them together but their relationship never seemed to get a chance to lift off the ground. I was always glad that Roag was dead but the prospect of a new brother, Lore, is appealing; especially one that can kill with his touch. My opinion hasn't changed from my review of the previous book Desire Unchained; to me, this series is a hybrid between dark paranormal romance and dark urban fantasy. I'm a dark urban fantasy reader and enjoy this series immensely. Urban fantasy readers need not be afraid. Don't miss the short story of when the brothers all meet for the first time during their rescue of Wraith at the end of the book. I highly recommend this book and also the entire series. I'm so looking forward to the next installment Ecstasy Unveiled due out 2/2010 and Larissa's short story in the anthology Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance 2 due out 9/21/09.

I enjoyed this book from begining to end. The drama, the suspence and the sacrifices offered by these characters take your breath away. You will be flipping pages faster than you thought you could. Larissa Ione's "Demonica Series" is new and original and her Underground General is like no other and who does'nt love when the bad boy falls in love Wraith offers all that and more....

You have to love Larissa Ione's Demonica Novels. Who wouldn't like a General Hospital for demons complete with daily drama and love stories? I loved all three of the novels in this series to date. This one being my favorite. The black sheep of the family finds love. It's a great story, and the action keeps you reading and reluctant to put the book down. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

This was the 3rd installment of the Demonica series and I just can't get enough of this world. I love the way the author melds the fantastic with the mundane to make a seamless world that might really exist. I always had a soft spot for Wraith, the youngest brother (or is he). I wasn't sure if the love interest had enough character to be a great foil for Wraith's inadequacies and foibles, but she came through. These books do not need to read in order to understand them, and stand alone as a great read.

I didn't believe it when people said Wraith was there favorite. After reading Shade's book, I didn't think it could get better than him. And even though I absolutely love Wraith after this book, Shade is still my favorite. Just because. But I was surprised to like Wraith so much. In the previous books, he was cocky, annoying, and just...intolerable pretty much. I mean, I knew that he cared about his brothers, obviously but I still didn't like him. But to my complete and utter disbelief...well...I fell in love. Wraith became caring, loving, and protective in a really sexy way. Not only that but I love Serena. Those two were absolutely perfect for each other. I hate to admit it, but the ending terrified because I actually thought Wraith might lose Serena. I even started crying.Overall, I really loved this book. Although my heart still belongs to Shade, I still achingly love Wraith. The plot was amazing and exciting, the characters were hilarious and heart-wrenching, and now more than ever I am desperate for the fourth book. Fingers crossed I'll get it soon because I am so excited to learn more about Lore.Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

I loved this book! I was waiting especially for Wraith's story to come out. This series is great. I loved the characters and how it was different than other paranormal books that I have read.

I read this book as part of the Early Reviewers program, so I wasn't originally aware it was part of a series. But I promised a review, so I read it anyways. Only a few pages into the book, I felt sorry for not reading the previous novels first, but by the end, I was glad I kept with it. The characters are lovable, the story is exciting, and the world is extremely interesting. I've been looking for a new world, a new series to get into, and I have to say, I think this is it! You know a series is good when you immediately want to go out and get the previous novels. Luckily, this book comes with a glossary infront to explain some terms that may be confusing for readers, as well as an encyclopedia of demons in the world, and a brief history of the Underworld General hospital, which does help a lot. I'm a fan of series such as those written by Laurell K. Hamilton and Sherrilyn Kenyon, and I enjoyed this, so anyone with similar tastes should definitely look up "Passion Unleashed!"

It took a little while for the book to grab me and pull me into it's pages. The world Larissa Ione builds is an interesting one but not having read the first two books of this series, I felt overwhelmed at the beginning with all the different species to sort through. But once I got past all that, I enjoyed the actually story unfolding. I would strongly suggest to read through the Glossary and the Compendium, located in the front and back respectively if you are new to the series. The book is about Serena Kelley, a human charmed by angels, and Wraith a Seminus demon, and the end of the world as they know it. Wraith is poisoned by an assassin. His only hope of living is to seduce Serena and steal her charm. Serena, a virgin, was bitten by a demon as a child is she gives up her virginity she will die. The charm is the only thing keeping her alive. I would have rated this story a 4 star if I hadn't had such a hard time getting past all the demonology at the onset. As with any series my strongest advise is to start at the beginning.

Special talents like finding artifacts had kept Wraith involved in his brothers live and their hospital, but when he discovered he was dying, he knew he could give it all up for them. The discovery of a cure though, led him to an archeologist (Serena Kelley) with a secret of her own. Oh yeah, she could cure him by giving him her special gift (which happened to be her virginity) but she was in danger of dying from it too. Book 3 ¿.. Gotta love the tortured bad boy who sees his solution only to stop and think twice about it because for once in his life he is thinking about the consequences (a little cliché). Really enjoyed that E & Shade made the appearances in the story. Thought Serena was a little timid, less than she should have been after her history. Not sure if Serena ¿tamed¿ Wraith or his illness did. Still really good, liked the adventure quality that was added to this one. Think I¿m addicted to the Underground General and all it¿s inhabitants, I really want more of the whole group. I am looking forward to learning more about Lore in Ecstasy Unveiled (book 4 of the Demonica series)

Serena Kelley closely guards two things¿ a charm that keeps her invincible to the danger all around her and her virginity. If she gives up her virginity she loses the invincibility and she¿ll die of the disease that was affecting her when she was given the charm to save her life at age seven. While out hunting one night, Wraith a Seminus (sex) demon was hit with a poisonous dart. The only thing that can save him is the charm Serena holds. As he sets about seducing her he learns some unexpected things: if he dies, his two brothers also die and the Underworld hospital they run is destroyed. Plus if Serena loses the charm the gates between Heaven and Hell are destroyed and Armageddon will begin on earth. Who will prevail when all options lead to death and destruction?I absolutely loved this book. There are actually two sets of characters that are followed in this book that ultimately tie together in the end. Obviously the world doesn¿t end and Wraith saves the day but the storyline is very unique with a couple of twists that I didn¿t see coming. The sex scenes are very steamy but not at all crass which in my opinion can take away a lot from a book.Passion Unleashed is book three in the Demonica series and I have yet to read Pleasure Unbound or Desire Unchained but I highly recommend reading them first. I wasn¿t lost but the back story on a lot of the characters in this book are explained in those two books. I¿m definitely reading those two and looking forward to book 4, Ecstasy Unveiled coming in February 2010.

When I first opened Pleasure Unbound (Book 1) last year, I instantly fell in love with Ione's fantasy world, her writing, and her characters-- especially E. Face it, when you start such a spectacular series like this, it's hard not to fall for the first hero you are introduced to. He'll stick in your mind for the rest of the series, towards the top of your list, even as you are introduced to more sexy alpha males. And even as much as I loved Shade's book, (review here), E's story was still fresh in my mind, too. I thought it would stay that way forever... ...And then I started Wraith's book, Passion Unleashed, and E, poor E, was the last guy on my mind! :D I love the bad guy appeal on a hero as much as the next person, but when we were first introduced to Wraith in book one, he was just a 'so-so' character. I think it was because we knew very little about him, and he seemed to (on the surface) not give a sh** about anyone else. But after reading even a few pages of his story, I was hooked-- I needed more Wraith. Wraith became my favorite of all the brothers, hands down. Not only because of his story, which was AMAZING, but also because of him, and the drastic change he makes in Passion Unleashed.Besides my complete obsession with Wraith, I also enjoyed this book because of the story line-- Ione keeps us on the edge of the seat until the very end. Will they be able to find a way to keep Wraith (and the other two brothers) alive before it's too late? Will they be able to stop the demons from taking over? Larissa Ione may not have as many books out as some of the other paranormal authors in the business, but the fan base that some authors accomplish after twenty years of books, I'm convinced that Ione can accomplish with only her Demonica series! Like all of her previous Demonica books, Passion Unleashed has everything-- touching romance, witty conversations, captivating story lines, full-blown paranormal themes (demons and vampires and werewolves, oh my!), and, of course, amazingly steamy love scenes. And be prepared for more than a few surprises along the way..... A new character comes into the story, and he'll play a big part in future books, I'm sure. ;) Really, what more do you need? Add in Wraith's interesting conversation and you have a picture perfect book. :)I keep pressing 'delete' while writing this review, but no matter how long I stare at the computer and try to rewrite it, I'll never be able to do Passion Unleashed the justice it deserves. I can't even beginning to explain all the little things that made me love this book like I did, it's simply too hard! All I can say is if you've been waiting for Wraith's story from book one, you won't be disappointed! Wraith's story is hot hot hot, but it's still got a solid romance between the hero and heroine, it's not just pure lust driven sex 24/7. After all, for Wraith to change his ways like he does, you know that she's got to mean a lot to him!5/5 STARS! Amazing, passionate... there are not enough good words in the world to describe it! But I will say this: if you thought that the Demonica series would end with Wraith, you're wrong. Like I said, a new hero comes into the story line in this book, and according to her website, she has another 2 books planned, though they won't be available until next year and the year after! ARRGH! There is no way I can survive the wait. Whatever will I do? Why, re-read Wraith's delicious story, of course!

3.5 starsI wasn't all that impressed with Wraith's story. I felt it could have been so much more interesting. There was a lot of action, but it was predictable. I knew 30 pages into the book how it was going to end, and it did. Serena was a Virgin Charmed human who possessed the key to the end of the world, and Wraith was a dying vampire/demon who needed her charm in order to stay alive. The whole treasure hunt didn't last that long, and it was mostly them having virtual sex, fighting off Byzymoth, the bad guy of the book, and a few subplots with Kynan and Gem. The only twist in the story was with Lore, and that WAS unexpected, but cool nonetheless.I was thinking that NBC should buy the rights to this series and make a really cool Medical show, instead of the crap that is out right now. Nothing says COOL, and BIG Ratings like an Underground Demon Hospital LOL

The third book in the UGH series. A lot of action. some of it was a bit predictable. But come on, they always end up living happily ever after in these books, so that shouldn't surprise anyone. I liked wraith from the very first book. This one gives a bit more info as to why he's a bit screwed up and shows a different side to him. It was a quick read, but a good one. I couldn't put it down because I wanted to see what would happen next.

YES! YES! YES! Excuse me, I'm having a private moment ;) I finished "Passion Unleashed" by Larissa Ione and I must say that this is one series I'm so very glad I'm hooked on. Her Demonica novels take place in an intricately built world, with enough differences from the raft of paranormals available to distinguish themselves. The characters are NOT one-dimensional caricatures of one creature or another...oh no, Ione has a vast selection of characters with multi-layered personalities on top of the traits attributable to their species and these differences from the average urban fantasy or paranormal romance today are just a couple of the things that make her novels stand-outs, IMHO :)In "Passion Unleashed" we finally get the story of Wraith, a sex demon who's 'gotta have it'! So 'have it' he does...often and with vigor. He's the 'bad boy' of the three brothers we've read about so far and Ione certainly puts him to the test in his love story. Wraith has been infected with a poison that has no antidote. He's only got one chance to save his life...find the 'Chosen' virgin and 'deflower' her. Hey! He's a sex demon--no problem.Serena is one of the 'Chosen'--she holds a relic that would be pivotal in the event of Armageddon. This same relic is all that protects her from an incurable disease she contracted at a young age. So holding on to her virginity isn't really a choice...it's the only thing keeping her alive. Good thing Armageddon isn't on the calendar, huh? Ummm, hold that thought. There's a fallen Angel turned renegade and he's after Serena's relic. So the chase...I mean race, is on. Oh, just one more thing. The fallen Angel can TAKE the relic from Serena, but Wraith will have to seduce it from her. But really, sex demon, no problem, right?I don't mean to make this book sound like a light-heated paranormal romance, because it's not. Although there is much more humor in this story than the previous two, it's still a nail-biter of a suspense/action novel. And Ione doesn't let the action/suspense overcome the love aspect either. Both Wraith and Serena face life and death decisions that will affect not just themselves, but their friends, loved ones, and heck...the whole world! No pressure.Others have reviewed "Passion Unleashed" and gone into more detail so I won't take up your time with more words. What I will say is that if you like urban fantasy, spicy paranormal romance, action and suspense, drama, and hot supernatural creatures...RUN, don't walk, to your nearest bookstore and pick up this whole series.

This is the third book in the Demonica Series. This book is about Wraith who is poisoned and must find a Sentinel to stop the poison and save his life. What I found to be interesting in this book is the way Larissa Ione let us get to see another side of Wraith. He was totally not what I had envisioned from the first two books. It was a great story with action, adventure, sex, and mystery. By the end of the book I actually reveresed my idea about Wraith and really started to like him. We also were introduced to some more underworld characters which I found interesting. Good reading - good paranormal read. When is book 4??? I can't wait!

Being born half incubus demon and half vampire, Wraith has always tried to escape what he is with a death wish which has seriously tested the patience of his half-brothers. However, when he is attacked and infected with a deadly poison for which there is no antidote he finds himself faced with the necessity of saving himself the only way he can...by seducing an innocent virgin and taking away the charm that protects her life. The problem is that the more time he spends with the Serena, the charmed archeologist, the more intriguing he finds her and the less he wants to do what he must to save himself and all those he holds dear.Although this is the third book of this author's Demonica series, it is the first one I've read by her and I have to say I was impressed. Although this bears similarities to other paranormal romances I've read in characterization and plot I thought it was very well written and engaging. It didn't strike me as redundant at all, which was a very pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed the leading two characters of Wraith and Serena and I liked the pace and progress of their relationship throughout the book. The secondary romance wasn't as appealing to me, but that may have been because I don't have the background to have made it more emotionally satisfying not having read the first two books. On the other hand this relationship, along with many of the other secondary characters, served to advance the overarching plot of the series and I think that those invested in the series would find it very interesting. Overall I really enjoyed this story, it moved well, the writing was smooth and the characters were interesting. Certainly this is one I'd recommend to fans of J.R.Ward's BDB series or Kenyon's Dark Hunter series who are looking for other romance series to explore.
