This is a must reference for every Jew who wants to go beyond the superficial/literal meaning of the traditional Passover hagadah. I say reference because, while the volume contains the complete hagadah in both Hebrew and English, it is so full of wonderful explanatory material that it would be unwieldy to use in an actual seder by all the participants. Any leader who wishes to enrich the seder experience for his guests would benefit greatly from studying the Riskin hagadah before conducting a seder. Of course each of the seder steps are discussed and explained in a comprehensive way. The volume also contains eloquent short essays on such related subjects as the sanctity of time, universalism vs. particularism, the Chosen People, eating as a religious experience, hungry vs. needy, and the disbeiever at the seder.
